I've always had the same feelings over a fusco. After looking for a long time my local pet store unknowingly had a handful they'd gotten in and put in their assorted tank. The second I saw them I knew I had to grab a few and grow them out. My guy is finally on the edge of blowing up I think. Your guy is gorgeous. My one concern is quality of genetics with my guy. I'm not sure if he'll turn out how I want or not.
Watching your tanks makes me salivate on excitement! What magnificent specimen you have Ben. Welcome to the new addition and a special hello to James at the Cichlid Shack!
Hi Ben, it just goes to show that you could add 1-2 fish with a group of monster Africans and come out unscathed. I have done it probably a half a dozen times before and it just goes to show how good of a fish keeper you are
Don’t know too much about the Fusco, but his cousins the Venustus and Livingstoni have cured me of keeping any fish with Nimochromis in front of it’s name, lol. I don’t know about permanently, but I’m pretty solid it right now. They are gorgeous fish though. I’d like to comment on your choice of two tone substrate in that aquarium. Very clever I must say. You have the benefit of the lighter substrate to enhance the coloration of your fish and then you have the detritus concealing capability of the darker substrate. Not to mention it looks great. You can tell you’ve been keeping these fish for years.
Thank you. I’ve had Nimbochromis killers and ones that were mellow. Really the luck of the draw. Fingers crossed that none of mine snap and lose their mind after putting in size.
Ben, what a beauty! I placed an order using your promo code last week, including a Fusco. Seeing this video makes me even more excited for my order to ship!
Good looking fusco mine is pretty mellow but is the one I have to watch when I put new fish in the tank that are on the smaller side. He is the first to try to figure out if he can fit them in his mouth.
I absolutely love the Fusco. One of the worst losses I had last year when my heater failed in my African tank. And it is definitely on my restocking list. Awesome fish🐠🦯
@@BenOchart my sister gave me a gift certificate to the Cichlid shack for Christmas, and also, Jerry, gave me a gift certificate to the Cichlid shack as well to aid in my restocking. I lost every fish in that aquarium except for seven at the end of the year last year. Ink bird temperature controller next on the list!🐠🦯
Thank you. There’s some occasional chasing in the 90 so I’m looking forward to getting that 300 going so I can move out the Viejas and Nicaragua cichlids. The 90 might remain a Geo / Severum tank.
The fusco is my favorite african cichlid I’m soon getting a 180 gallon to move my South American community cichlids into from my 125 and I plan to make the 125 a hap tank with the fusco being one of the centerpieces I do also love the synodontis petricola if you were stocking a 125 with the focus being primarily on those 2 fish what other fish would you stock around them?
Trout, sanddiver, Malawi Gar, a few Protomelas like Taiwan Reef and Tangerine Tiger and possibly a Fire Hap (can be aggressive). Another Nimbochromis like a polystigma, Linni or livingstonii might work as well. Just have a second tank ready in case a fish goes crazy.
Very impressive F1 from The Cichlid Shack. You have definitely shown alot of patience in stocking that tank Ben. Don't forget about the full species list of the 210 here - Every Huge African Cichlid in The 210 Gallon Tank Identified - Link ua-cam.com/video/DxyGx7yMDr4/v-deo.html
I'm looking at a 65 gallon tank do u think I can Keep a group of smaller type of peacocks in it I had the same tank before with mbuna in it an some peacock but I'm trying g to keep just peas thise time
I have found peas to be pretty aggressive but some of the more docile varieties would include: Flavescent Bi-Color 500 Benga Sunshine Blue Neon A Z Rock Hap could work along with some of the bigger Lethrinops and some Placidochromis like Gissel and a Deep Water That would max out a 65 with maybe a panda synodontis cat and a bushynose pleco. Good luck.
I just want to share with ny friends (right) ? I had to put my 13 year old Papillion dog to sleep today. I am going to try to put a video my cichlid tank up tonight so I can quit crying over my dog. Ok?
Sorry to hear that Elizabeth. I went through it with two beagles that got old and started have old dog issues like lung and heart problems. It's never easy saying goodbye to them.
@@BenOchart thank you Ben. She went through 7 hours of seizures last night that elwete heart wrenching. It's 2:34am here soon something hours since it started and I am still leaking. Thank you. Fish have been neglected for 2 days but are fine. I'll do them in the am. Let's all remember that it's a good thing dogs can't speak English and fish can't talk a all.
Beautiful fish, Ben! The entire tank is absolutely stunning! 🙂👍
Your fish is beautiful and calm. That is awesome. I might have to take out some decorations.
Awesome beautiful fish good luck w him
I am so glad you got your Fusxo again

Thank you Denny. Everyone was well fed and the lights were off. Tank to tank with no floating bag to get them fired up might have also helped😀👍🏻
You have some awesome fish keeping going on the colors are phenomenal the health of them shows.
Awesome collection!!!
Your CICHLIDS look AMAZING !
great variety of color 🐟🐠👍
Thank you Frankie
Beautiful Tank Ben
Great Fish 💪🏽 I have all 3 growing out now. Can wait to watch your fish grow in your large aquarium.

@@BenOchart Are you hopefully going to Aquashella this year????
I just got a fusco the other day, he's only about 2 inches. I can't wait till he starts to color up like yours. Beautiful fish!
Hi Ben great fish love the Fusco, waiting for mine to show more color I guess it’s takes some time, keep up the best channel on here
Been wanting a fusco myself. Great looking fish!

Awesome fish and tank 👍👍👍
I saw one in pacific aquarium here in NYC it was 13 inches huge , blue head and red shining.

I lost one once, with lots of red coloration, to an oxygen issue. Grew him out from a 1” fry. It was very upsetting.

NEW TO THE CHANNEL. BEAUTIFUL TANKS BEN. MY BROTHER HAD ALOT OF FUSCOS IN A 450 GALLON TANK. THEY BRED LIKE CRAZY. 👍🐠
Welcome to the channel Richard 👍🏻😀👍🏻
That tank is beautiful. So jealous.
Thank you
Great video man! I love my fusco. The music played right over your voice the whole second half of the video so i couldn't hear what you were saying 🙁
There was a copyright issue with the music. I tried to clean it up and UA-cam had the video “processing” for 3 days! Very frustrating.
@@BenOchart ooh ok. That's ridiculous.
They become monsters! Beautiful fish! But Malawi trout is even better.
Love trouts…truth is I love all of them
Great fish Ben, have you ever thought about getting a Albino Red Empress? I have one and they are a great looking fish.
This aquarium has come a long way and is looking amazing.
How is your non African aquarium coming on ? 🙂

Just got him and he went right in... No quarantine?
He was in the 55 gallon for over a month.
Hi Ben where did you get your substrate? Thanks
It’s combo of 45% CaribSea black aragonite, 45% CaribSea crushed coral and 10% Imaginarium black sand from PetCo
Idk if u r up. But I did try topost my tank on YT. But.... I had to put my doig to sleep today I'm still having very wet eyes
What's is size now he looks stunning
Thank you. He’s right around 5”

What's the biggest you've seen? Can they reach 11"?
Sorry what’s the name of the fish at minute 1:32
Several fish in the frame but I think you’re referring to: DIMIDIOCHROMIS KIWINGE
Thanks 😊
Those can be aggressive
Fingers crossed ... so far mine has been mellow, growing fast and getting very pretty.
