I lived there in Bartonville my whole life and was sad to hear they tore it down. It was very scary but a cherished landmark.

had some issues back when I was 11 and 12 because of losing my grandparents in a car crash...with the help of my mom and dad and my doctor I spent some time there back in 62. All I remember is the caring nurses and "candy stripers"...did they do experiments there? can't tell you but I went through a lot of different tests and was given drinks that I don't remember now what was in it....have lost most of what I knew, events that happened during my teenage years....I can only relay stories that were told to me by relatives and friends.....

We used to go in that place all the time as kids. There were these really creepy tunnels connecting the outer buildings to the main building. I went back a few years ago before it was purchased by the current owners and all the tunnels were bricked off. i was so disappointed.

Idk if you’re around anymore but if you see this, thank you for taking time out of your day 8 years ago to explore this place. I hope you’re safe and doing well. From one stranger to another on this planet.
I have just been trying to research this place and I’m finding nearly next to nothing on coverage about this place. Heard one story about this place but no real history other than the general over view of the building. But with the time this place was active and running, shit went DOWN and was wildly fucked up (sorry for language lol) so I wanted to know more about the REAL history of what happened behind those walls. That’s what I’m curious about - but I can’t seem to find ANYTHING on this place. Searching high and low though! Wish me luck lol! 🤍💙

If it makes you feel any better, he still is around! On Facebook he posts quite a lot about ghost adventures and has a paranormal talk show every Thursday

In 1968 the grounds were covered in crab apple trees that cranked out fruit by the ton

I live right down the street lol. Its really cool growing up in a town with this historical building, I remember prolly 10 years ago when the tunnels werent blocked off we were to scared to go in them but damn I wish I could now. Those tunnels were soooooo creepy we would yell down and I always thought I heard something. Ive been in it once and I grew up here. My aunt has a picture of a man standing in a hallway looks like a guy in a cowboy hat very detailed scary shit!!!!

The old laundry building was restored and turned into a masonic lodge

Love the tour host attitude towards death and ghost. The thought of being reduced to a 3 yr old with a lobotaomy sounds worst than putting a dog down.

That gorgeous tour guild. She made the beauty of the place. If I were a dementia patient in a place like that. I would love to have 400 woman like her taking care of me. Putting me in diapers or even a lock room {{ Seclusion Room }}. I get along well
