How time flies. As I listen to this I can't help but think back to being 17, long hair and my mom constantly shouting at me to "TURN THAT SHIT DOWN"!!! Love you mom!
+Springfeeeel YES!! I'm 13 and my dad got me into metal with Metallica and Testament but now when I talk to my friends about music they're always on about "oh look at this new Taylor Swift album I got. better than your metal crap" it annoys me so much that this crappy music that lives now is so popular and my friends don't approve of metal so Stuff 'Em All :(
+Oliver Mousley I'm 31 and things weren't any different when I was your age, sadly. Except it was Eminem and Limp Bizkit in the early 2000's, and it's just become worse over time. But at 13 you should take pride in the fact that you're already in individual thinking for himself. that separates you from most your age.
MrMisterMan special old testament, this album is some damn badass, my opinion, heaviest album ever in band and chuck billy singing excelently! louie is beast from hell with drums!
Damn near every solo Alex Skolnick played back then, had so much feeling. You could tell just by listening to his solos, they sounded like he was playing from the soul. I'm lucky I got to meet him
We're gonna take you back Through the pages of the past Just another lonely boy I could laugh and play And live in any other way Then the devil took my soul The fortune and the fame I knew I was not the same And I know I'd never return Looking at the sky I knew I would never die And forever shining through Wish the sky would say That blue would turn to grey And I know I'd be there Life was like a fantasy Taken by reality Does anyone remember me You once knew me Flashes of the day I knew I was here to stay But no one stays the same Turn the pages back in time Through the chapters in my mind Life's too short to leave behind It's too late Life was like a fantasy Taken by reality Does anyone remember me You once knew me Flashes of the day I knew I was here to stay But no one Knows my name

I remember buying the greatest hits CD from them. I couldn't stop listening to this one. I would sit outside in my backyard and had CD player and beer. Just jamming out. Good ole times.
Such a killer song! I shed tears almost every time I listen to it. So much nostalgia goes with this song. Wether it was my teen years, partying with like minded ppl, blasting it while driving or doing dishes and not ashamed to say or even having a good time with a man and this song was playing in the background.
Man how can you forget the days when you had to keep rewinding your cassette to listen to your favorite jam. I'll never forget the days Testament had Greg Christian and Luie Clemente 👍🤘🎤🎸
I am sorry, but if a NON-GUITAR player like me can appreciate the genius of Alex Skolnick then that says something. I tell my oldest son, a guitar player, about Alex and why I love his playing. I say to him yea Alex can shred like anyone else and go really fast, but the beauty of Alex's playing is the creation. It's the orchestration of notes. I've never heard guitar solos with such depth and intellect. It's literally like every note he plays has a purpose. It seems a million people can play really fast flight of the bubble bee shit with notes all over the measure. But WHAT NOTES to play is the key and Alex for me is the best I've ever heard. First time I heard him playing his wonderful stuff on The Legacy till today, he's the man. I'd love to meet him some day, shake his hand and say thank you for the great tunes he and his Testament bros gave us.
To me,Testament have gotten an unfair amount of criticism from people over the years for their "ballads". These aren't the same "lovey dovey" type of ballads that bands like Poison or Motley Crue do or have done. These songs are nothing like those songs, they're introspective yet still kick ass! Nothing personal against those other bands but Testament's "ballads" would chew up those other songs and devour their bones along with the raw meat!
Testament never got the recognition they rightly deserved imo. They always had really good songs and albums and thanks to Chuck and Alex, they sounded different than anyone else.
Never forget this one cause I was in high school when it came out. After all these years and I still have my original cassette tape from Souls of Black. Never gets old 👍🎤🎸🤘
I'd say that they make the best ballads of any thrash band. They have this beautiful, hypnotic kind of darkness, that I've never heard from any other band. I love all of their music, though I wish they still wrote these ballads today.
“We’re going to take you back, through the pages of the past...” Man this rings so true more than ever. I was 15 when this came out. I remember getting this album and when this video was in rotation on Headbangers Ball. There was four of us in my group of friends. We had my one friend’s house to ourselves every weekend when his single dad would go hang with his girlfriend. He’d leave us with some pizzas and we’d pool our money to get beer and weed and party all weekend. Lots of dude and girls came and went and metal was the soundtrack to our young carefree lives. It’s amazing the trip down memory lane a song can trigger.
I was somewhere around 14 the year this was released same year my mom's best friend's son who was 5 years older than me made me aware of this epic song. Looking back I thank that dude almost daily he was my musical mentor his was Tony Chaney from Suffolk VA. Unfortunately he passed on over a decade now.. Tony I thank your for opening my ears real music not radio noise like Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica even though we all know Megadeths better! Dio, Ozzy, Queensrych and tossed on Merciful Fate for good measure... Yes I think him almost daily every time I hear something great from that age.
*This is what it's all about for me.. what an amazing song by a gifted band, it feels like 2 minutes go. I never really liked* *ballads, but this song & Laaz Rockit's The Omen touch the depths of your Soul...*
I got into Testament back in 1991. I was 13 and they got me into thrash metal. Souls Of Black was the album that turned me onto them, and I haven't looked back since. Metallica may be the band that has done it for many other kids, Testament was mine!
This piece has all the necessary components to be considered one of the best metal ballads, just technical and atmospheric, rigid and powerful voice, heavy drums. Simply THE LEGACY.🇦🇷

+Tommy Riggins no shit bro, i so damn feel you XD .....
I feel bad for the kids that have to grow up with today's mainstream horse shit. I can't imagine growing up thinking Katy Perry is good music.

Alex Skolnick: One of the best musicians alive!!!

The Ballad, The Legacy And Return To Serenity Are My Favorite Testament Songs. Chuck Billy He's Got A Beautiful Voice In Testament. 🤘🏻🤘🏻♥❤🔥
only testament could make soul crushing riffs then turn around and make the best ballads ever
MrMisterMan special old testament, this album is some damn badass, my opinion, heaviest album ever in band and chuck billy singing excelently! louie is beast from hell with drums!
Not to take anything away from Testament, but Metallica did that too.
so did megadeth, machine head, pantera to name a few well known ones. But yeah, this song catches your soul like no other ballads \m/
@@zweihanderr221 Does Megadeth have any ballads?

Yeah his playing was very esoteric
When it comes to thrash guitar players he’s definitely top five for sure
He's the Metal version of my favorite guitarist David Gilmore.
the solo STILL gives me the chills, 30 years later. damn.
Para siempre ❤...
We're gonna take you back
Through the pages of the past
Just another lonely boy
I could laugh and play
And live in any other way
Then the devil took my soul
The fortune and the fame
I knew I was not the same
And I know I'd never return
Looking at the sky
I knew I would never die
And forever shining through
Wish the sky would say
That blue would turn to grey
And I know I'd be there
Life was like a fantasy
Taken by reality
Does anyone remember me
You once knew me
Flashes of the day
I knew I was here to stay
But no one stays the same
Turn the pages back in time
Through the chapters in my mind
Life's too short to leave behind
It's too late
Life was like a fantasy
Taken by reality
Does anyone remember me
You once knew me
Flashes of the day
I knew I was here to stay
But no one
Knows my name
