Excellent video, Crafsman! Here are a couple of tips for steady crafmens who may not can order stuff from online for whatever reason, but still wanna do a little molding and casting like the Crafsman: You can make your own mold putty from a tube of silicone and a box of cornstarch. But mix it up on your back porch, the silicone/cornstarch cures quicker than just silicone by itself, and the smell of vinegar it makes when curing will run you outta the house!
I make mine like making strange biscuits. I throw down a sheet of wax paper, drop about a half cup of the cornstarch on it, then I squeeze out however much silicone from the tube that I think I'll need. Coat my gloves and some wide, flat craft sticks with vaseline and then I cut the silicone into the cornstarch. I sprinkle more and more starch, cutting it in, then continue mixing with my fingers and hands , until I have it at about the consistency of biscuit dough. It goes from being real sticky to a tacky putty in just a couple minutes.
You'll have about three or so minutes of working time to press it into the object you want to mold. I usually play it safe by spraying a little cooking spray on the object first tho. It cures fast, like in twenty or thirty minutes. Anyhow, sorry for the long comment.

In case anybody’s wondering, nickel silver, also known as German silver, does not contain any real silver. It just looks silvery. It’s usually about 60% copper, 20% nickel, and 20% zinc.
Some people get skin irritation from jewelry containing nickel. If you’re one of those people, you probably want to avoid nickel silver powder (although it isn’t toxic).

You can actually thin JB Weld and it's clones to a thinner consistency. I needed to make strong pegs for a 3-d printed ukulele project: the 3-d PLA printed tuning pegs were useless under string tension, and always broke. I made silicone molds of the printed pegs and then poured thinned JB Weld into that mold, and those pegs were strong enough to work. I used acetone as the thinner - do that outdoors in a ventilated space. It will take a lot longer to cure than straight JB weld out of the package. But might capture more surface detail you want, as well as hold onto colorant powders.

I'm curious to know @TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin if the epoxy is infused with metal is it attracted to magnets? Also if you use copper powders like you did in this video, can you patina it in liver of sulpher or will the epoxy disintegrate?

Have you ever tried rub n buff? Could give the metal shine effect without using the nickel powder.

Rub n buff is a paint, it wouldn't be heat resistant. I used it a lot for touching up picture frames

I've used jb weld for years. Works well. Repaired some patio furniture. Very sticky and smells like hot (temperature) mustard.

Ok so what’s your favorite rainblo gum flavor? Me: the yellow one and I generally dislike yellow colored candy, but the yellow gum is my jam.

Crafsman that is very helpful. So the other powders can handle ironing too right? The real test was the epoxy I'm hoping. What epoxy was the most detailed?

Hey Crafsman! Love your videos! Just seeing you mentioning the wooden buttons! I love that idea!
How about you vacuum them with some resin before you work on them, so they'll last a lifetime!
