Very down to earth to meet. Extremely humble and thoughtful. Most would have an ego and he treated everyone kindly with respect with zero ego. Like you were on his same level.. Extremely kind. It's 31 years this year since I met him and I will never forget this about him. Incredible to be so well known and down to earth. I don't know if I could even be like that. humble considering his status.
Steve Allen was one of the funniest men who ever lived.I,too could sense his humility . A word that has a bad time of it today. He was a truly beautiful man.
On this day in 1962 {October 28th} Steve Allen appeared on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'... He performed a comedy sketch, "You Bet Your Bird", which was a take off on game shows... Between June 24th, 1956 and June 6th, 1960 he was in direct competition with Ed Sullivan, he had a one hour variety show on NBC-TV at 8:00 PM on Sundays, which was also the Sullivan time slot... R.I.P. Mr. Sullivan {1901 - 1974} and Mr. Allen {1921 - 2000}...
man, the stuff on TV today would give him a stroke. I'm a baby boomer and certainly no prude but the stuff on the comedy channel just disgusts me. I think these twenty-something entertainers actually think it's hip to say shockingly obscene things. Nothing we can do. I just keep the poker face and pretend I'm not yucked-out.
I could listen to this guy talk all night. RIP, Steve Allen.

Steve Allen Was a class act who was followed by lesser fellows.
Not well known at all in the UK, to my surprise.
Love you, Steve. What a brilliant man.
