and here I am mid-20s barely remembering what I did yesterday morning xD By the time I get to that age, people will have to remind me what I did 5 minutes ago
Tahsin Nirzhar that's how memory formation works as you age. The ones from your youth are stronger from retelling and just the advantage of a young mind creating them, then you get older and momentous events occur less frequently, your aged body forces you to live more vicariously through your progeny and the transmission of an oral history built by the memories of youth. The formation of memory naturally dulls and you mentally retreat to those solid unshakable moments in your life when you were young and could conquer anything if you put your mind to it. Until finally the silhouette of life's closing door grows wider as it creaks shut upon its hinges and you find yourself alone in a room entirely made of yesterday's yesterday.
I honestly think that he's always very genuine- he is just very awkward. He's on television for everything he says and does, and has to constantly follow a timeline while meeting with very different people who give very different responses. I think he's unique, and I like that.
RIP Bill Hayes Much love to Susan Hayes. Thanks to you both for over 5 decades on Days of Our Lives!! The last Christmas scenes will forever be cherished. 💕 😘 😍
same to everything you said. I was looking for a new comment here. I've seen this video before, but had to come back to watch it again. it's such a unique situation with Susan and Bill being married in real life and on the show, and both for sooo long. I don't know how she is going to act out anything coming up, as it won't even be acting, it will be real. but will she be at the 'fake' TV funeral, etc.? Calling her TV grandkids? it's a lot. I'd completely understand if she leaves the show. it's very sad, every time we saw Bill though lately, couldn't help but think how much longer?
@@user-xl3fp5js5i Susan was perfection in the memorial scenes for Doug on Days this week. The eulogy Julie gave for Doug is the same one Susan gave for Bill (with tweaks for real vs. TV family, etc). I don't think there was a lot of acting going on for anyone in these last episodes, I think they pulled from their own grief for the man to embody grief for the character.
That man is absolutely incredible!! The fact that he is 92 years old and he is so coherent. He talks and thinks and acts like he's in his 30s. What a bad ass!!!
He was a dude in the audience that his grandson JUST introduced to Jimmy during the commercial break. Exactly how much research did you expect them to do on ALL the audience members??
People always criticise Jimmy for fake laughing and not being genuine but he really is an outgoing and upbeat host and can be funny without the need of being snarky or full of himself. If the worst thing people can say about him is that he is too much of a people pleaser than he must be a really good guy.
@Anne Liesveld no he's not, alcoholic different from people like to drink, and yes Jimmy enjoy to drink but it's different to an alcoholic, this news even clear up by NBC that Jimmy never an alcoholic because he need to be on Tonight Show everyday, but you now people love to hate him, how he can be an alcoholic if he need to work 5/6 days a week, need on camera and always put together every single days if he's an alcoholic? this rumours already there years ago, he's an alcoholic, his marriage is over, etc. but until now none of this rumours is true, but of course once again people love to hate him
@@GTanya07 Johnny Carson had a problem with booze, and he did the "Tonight Show" back when the show mattered. None of the late night shows matter anymore. Just a vehicle to tout the latest movie, book, TV show, etc. Back in the day, stars did "The Tonight Show" just because.
You know what, so what if the late night shows mattered anymore? I surely wondered where the love for Jimmy went after his first late night show, treating him as if he was just getting into the game for the first time. I also wondered if any Conan would have gotten this level of flack if he worked here. I swear, everybody dislikes Jimmy, and for what? Being a hard laugher? I am a hard laugher. He is doing well carrying the sixth incarnation of the longest running talk show in history, and he can do it anyway he can. I love Jimmy because he is fun, is not a terrible person, and is one of my inspirations. I knew everybody loves him and his show and all the games they play. I really hope that everyone would see him past his laugh, and as the imperfect, but bright and awesome guy that he is.
it did to me and i have no idea who he is. he's the same age as my parents who are now gone. great to see him get that attention. his grandson looks just like him too.
I have loved the character of Doug on Days of our Lives for many years. He has such a wonderful voice. They are currently playing his last episodes right now.
I recognized him right away, as well as his wife next to him, from Days of our Lives. They were both on there forever, as husband wife. They have one of those rare, true love romances that stand the test of time.
Bill Hayes is now 96 and still starring on Days of Our Lives with his wife Susan Seaforth Hayes after 50+ years. Days just celebrated 56 years on the air November 8, 2021, NBCs longest running daytime drama. Bill and Susan were also the first daytime STARS to appear on the covet of TIME magazine, daytime ICONS and LEGENDS.
I am 74 and don't look that good. It is impossible to believe he was 92 at the time. He died two days ago at the age of 98. Also in the audience sitting next to him was his wife Susan Seaforth Hayes , who was also his wife on Days of Our Lives Hayes. They were so popular they made the cover of "Time" Magazine", the only Soap Opera actors to ever make the cover. GOD bless you and welcome you home Mr. Hayes.
Here again. I love this clip. It's so damn awesome. Just randomly have a legend in the audience, then go on and steals The Tonight Show like it was no big deal.
Wow, shocked that more ppl didn't know who he was. This man is "Doug, Hope Brady's dad" from Days of our lives!! "Julie" which is the lady that was next to him in the audience is his wife in real life an on Days, they've been married for many years! They are BOTH still currently on Days of our lives as of 2017... However, I had no idea that "Doug" was 92! He looks great!!!! As does his wife. What a blessed life.
Had to watch this again (five years later). They should have had him sing, his voice is as beautiful as his face. His adoring wife was there in the audience. This was a blast. He was fantastic on Your Show of Shows. Very committed performer. You can UA-cam him on YSoS.
His wife Susan Seaforth Hayes was sitting right next to him in the audience. it's hard to believe Jimmy does not know that they are one of the most popular supercouples on Days of Our lives. God bless him and Susan both
he looks great. I was an All My children fan back in the day but I remember him from Days of Our Lives , he and his wife were on there for years. My grandma used to watch her "stories" when I was a kid and that was the 60's -70's.
This is by far THE coolest thing to ever happen on any late night show! What a thrill to meet someone who was on the Tonight Show with different hosts AND on Your Show of Shows!
He reminds me of my grandmother, who is 91; Telling their life story without being a specific prompt, but you still love hearing them. And remembering every single detail. I asked my grandmother once how she is able to remember the stories so well, when I can barley remember last year. she said "well...I had nothing to do. So if it was exciting, I remembered."
Love Bill Hayes, he's a gentleman and an amazing actor and singer and entertainer. The world is a lot kinder with souls like him around. Have him back on please.
Bill Hayes - Ballad of Davy Crockett. is in my dads old 78s, i think i had two issues on 45rpm i think..Wow, I havent watched tv in a long time, Didn't even know bill was still alive, WOW. Amazeing,,
Please have Bill Hayes as a guest for a full segment and please campaign for him to receive an Honorary Grammy! He is fascinating, and I'm sure, full of stories!
I've seen this video many times, I keep coming back to it. So cool to see this. And if you do the research Bill Hayes really did do all those things he said, a living legend and remarkably sharp for his age. I'm sure that man has the best grandpa stories to pass down.
I keep coming back to it, too! Having been a DOOL fan since 1969, I knew Bill's background, but I thought Jimmy very sincere in his interview 'awe'--that's what I saw. Susan (which she soon realized) needn't have worried when Bill walked to the stage. He's just such a natural. We can't help lovin' him about as much as she does. We love her, too! She's probably part of what keeps him young.
Jimmy, you gotta have Bill Hayes on again for a full interview! I think it would be so fantastic! maybe a recurring segment called.. "the Call Back" where you have older stars on the show to re introduce them to the current audience. how cool would that be?
@Samuel Duplessis Man, you seem like a good-old wrestling fan, just like me. Still am, but I remember those years where my cousins and I used to get together on Mondays and Tuesdays and cheer for our favorite superstars. Good old days. #Happymemories
The DK yeah I'm 16 1/2 years old but I'm a huge mark for Pro Wrestling, I started watching at about 2006 or '07 and have been watching since, and since about 3 or 4 years ago I've wanted to become a Pro Wrestler so I started watching more promotions than just WWE, I've started watching TNA, ROH, a little bit of NJPW, PWG, etc... all on UA-cam except WWE, obviously but I know wrestling history thanks to studying the business and now back in October I started going to the gym and keep going , now my goal is to not just keep going to the gym but also eating like a Wrestler, and I'm starting to save my money to sign up for my local Wrestling School which costs 5000$, my teachers and buddies (especially the teachers) at school keep telling you're too small to be a Wrestler, and my teachers tell me that I'm obsessed with Pro Wrestling but I keep telling them, I'm not obsessed with Pro Wrestling , I just love the business and love talking about it, and it pisses me off that they do that, I hope that when school starts again in September they won't start saying that again, cause it just makes me want to just cut a promo on them to their face, and when they tell me I can't be a Wrestler, I tell them just look at guys like Neville, Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, TJ Perkins, Etc... they've been told that their dream of becoming a Pro Wrestler will never happen and look at them now they're working for WWE, the biggest company in Pro Wrestling. but then once I say that they change the subject by saying get a job in like marketing or something like that, and I tell them staying with my dream of becoming a Pro Wrestler. anyway back to my age I'm 16 1/2 years old but my dad told me like 5 years ago or something like that , that when he was a kid he grew up watching wrestling with guys like Hogan, Warrior (his favorite), "Macho Man" Randy Savage, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, etc... then he stopped then started watching again during the attitude era then stopped then a couple of years ago me and him drive for 16 hours all the way to the Bell Centre, for my first WWE Event (it was a house show, the weekend before Night of Champions) and 5 seconds into the Show I lost my voice, so my dad gave some water, but we had an amazing time anyway just a couple months me and dad went to our first independent show, he doesn't like wrestling anymore but he mostly only goes to Wrestling shows with me cause I'm a mark anyway back to what I was saying that yeah I maybe a young guy to be mentioning those guys but I know a lot of Pro Wrestling history.
@Samuel Duplessis It's obviously not the easiest job in the world, but if you work with sincere efforts, you should get there. Plus, there is so much more scope for pro wrestling these days with so many indie-promotions out there. Good luck, my friend, and maybe I can see you perform some day:).
I'm floored that audience members didn't know, nor Jimmy. He and Susan were the first supercouple of daytime TV. They fell in love on set and the show. Truly beautiful people.
Bill Hayes career is amazing! He passed at age 98, but there are kinescopes of his work on Broadway-what a tenor voice! His Oldsmobile commercials in the 1950s are musical productions. Song & dance man. ❤️
Wow! I've loved Bill and his wife Susan on Days of Our Lives since I was a child ... and I still sneak in an episode now and then via the internet. They still appear on the show from time to time. He is such an elegant man. (I'm surprised there seemed to be no recognition of his as a legend of daytime TV in this 3 plus minutes with Jimmy.)
I remember watching soaps with my grandmother growing up and watching Bill as Doug Williams on Days of Our Lives. Gods bless him, he looks great and could probably still act circles around half the talent in Hollywood.
I use to watch Bill Hayes when he was on Days Of Our Lives in the 60's and 70's. By the way, he looked amazing for 92. Also, Susan is still beautiful. Great seeing them both.
i have always absolutely adored Bill Hayes and i cant believe that no one there seemed to know him. cant believe hes 92 and hes still just as good looking!
92? Where has the time gone? When I was visiting friends in New York back in the 70's, they were avid soap opera enthusiasts. So, I sat and watched. Bill Hayes was the best part of watching Days of our Lives. He sang like a dream (and often) and it sounds like he's still got it! Too bad he didn't have a chance to introduce his wife, Susan Seaforth Hayes, who was sitting next to him. What a surprising treat!
January 12, 2024 Bill Hayes has passed away at the age of 98! Rest in Peace to this icon of Days of Our Lives! You will be missed!❤❤❤
RIP Bill Hayes (June 5, 1925 - January 12, 2024), aged 98
You will be remembered as a legend.
he is 92 and he still remembers every little detail from 60-70 years ago !!! damn! God bless him!
and here I am mid-20s barely remembering what I did yesterday morning xD By the time I get to that age, people will have to remind me what I did 5 minutes ago
People I've met who make it that far usually have very good memory
Zenzi Sage Agreed. My grandmother is 92 and remembers her childhood well.

He looks SO good for 92. He's practically male Betty White.
Quinn J omfg i was literally thinking the same thing.
lizzy and Quinn J omfgrofl I was literally literally thinking the same thing.
I was thinking that too! I would never give him 92!
He, and his wife seated next to him in the audiance, was also on Days of our Lives, for EVER!
Michelle Landroche They still are on Days of Our Lives.
I'm glad that Jimmy can still have an occasional genuine moment with a guest
David Hernandez he always
Just when I was about to give up hope he knew how to have a human moment with someone, he has to go out and do something like this. :)

You lived a great long life.

My great-grandfather died last year at 99 years old and he could still drive and looked pretty good for his age.
Maybe someone at NBC should do their homework and realize that this man and his wife were the stars of Days of Our Lives for a very long time.

He was so natural in front of the camera. That’s pure talent and charisma. Amazing!!!
Reliving the spot light he's adorable
What fun this was to see the guy who'd been on in the golden age of television with the greats.
I love how jimmy let him be a guest and god my mind is BLOWN ON THIS SIR'S MEMORY WOW

anyway back to my age I'm 16 1/2 years old but my dad told me like 5 years ago or something like that , that when he was a kid he grew up watching wrestling with guys like Hogan, Warrior (his favorite), "Macho Man" Randy Savage, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, etc... then he stopped then started watching again during the attitude era then stopped then a couple of years ago me and him drive for 16 hours all the way to the Bell Centre, for my first WWE Event (it was a house show, the weekend before Night of Champions) and 5 seconds into the Show I lost my voice, so my dad gave some water, but we had an amazing time anyway just a couple months me and dad went to our first independent show, he doesn't like wrestling anymore but he mostly only goes to Wrestling shows with me cause I'm a mark anyway back to what I was saying that yeah I maybe a young guy to be mentioning those guys but I know a lot of Pro Wrestling history.
@Samuel Duplessis It's obviously not the easiest job in the world, but if you work with sincere efforts, you should get there. Plus, there is so much more scope for pro wrestling these days with so many indie-promotions out there. Good luck, my friend, and maybe I can see you perform some day:).
The DK thank you, bud
that is such a great tribute, made Bill's day!!
Wow--he's still handsome! Loved him on Days of our Lives!
I'm floored that audience members didn't know, nor Jimmy. He and Susan were the first supercouple of daytime TV. They fell in love on set and the show. Truly beautiful people.
For Jimmy meeting Bill Hayes, it was a feeling of "I don't know this guy, but I know this guy".
(I'm surprised there seemed to be no recognition of his as a legend of daytime TV in this 3 plus minutes with Jimmy.)
so awesome... he is a great icon for sure
I remember watching soaps with my grandmother growing up and watching Bill as Doug Williams on Days of Our Lives. Gods bless him, he looks great and could probably still act circles around half the talent in Hollywood.
His memory is amaaazing
He’s now 96 and he’s still with us, ladies and gentlemen!
I like the way Jimmy communicate well with his audience
This man was born in my hometown! What a class act
He’s 96 now and kicking butt in the Marlena gets possessed storyline on Days of Our Lives!
My goodness time has been very good to him!
I use to watch Bill Hayes when he was on Days Of Our Lives in the 60's and 70's. By the way, he looked amazing for 92. Also, Susan is still beautiful. Great seeing them both.
I got so much respect for Jimmy for doing this! LOVE IT.
Wow!! He looks young!!!! God bless him🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. What a character 👌🏾😊
he looks 20 yrs younger than that

He was literally born in the same year as Johnny Carson
He looks excellent I can see him living past 100
Bruh at 92 he can stand up very well. Legend indeed
i have always absolutely adored Bill Hayes and i cant believe that no one there seemed to know him. cant believe hes 92 and hes still just as good looking!
Absolutely love it.. so special
I would have thought he was more like 72! Amazing.
He's 96 and still alive! I hope he can hit 100.
Me too 😊
Haha ❤️ Love you Bill Hayes. What a charmer!
