Part 2 of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon is set to release in April and we got a full trailer. Though its an awesome trailer, I still have my concerns because of Part 1. - Розваги

Why is Snyder doing the PG cuts? He explained it pretty clearly: There is NO full 100% hardcore version of Rebel Moon without the PG cut. If we had gotten ONE version of these films, Netflix would have demanded a compromised cut they could market more easily. So Snyder promised them a PG cut they could market to the GA and in return he got to do whatever he wanted with his director's cuts.
In simple terms: There is no R-rated cut without the PG cuts. Netflix nor ANY other studio would allow it. They would never finance a crazy 3-hour-R-rated movie with that money. It wouldn't get enough views (as you exclude kids and people with short attention spans from your target audience). They want to throw a broader net. Theater or not, R-rated cuts usually get fewer views on Netflix. The way they are doing it now, the PG cuts could create enough buzz to give the director's cuts better numbers.
Bingoooooo literally this is the most sensible thing I’ve read on any of the Rebel Moon videos I’ve seen lol people think Zack owed Netflix some fucking Oscar winning PG13 like if the guy NEVER wrote Rebel Moon to be PG13 but was ballsy enough to risk his project being roasted just to get his directors cuts greenlit, do y’all think he legit cares who’s crying over the PG13 cuts? And Zack’s a G he’s never gonna disown any cut of his films he knows HIS ACTUAL FANS are whom he’s releasing the weird ass rated r hardcore sci-fi adult fantasy fiction for. Dune and Star Wars are dope but this is like that kinda sci-fi mixed with retro shit like Heavy Metal and if all that had a baby with Frazetta artwork.
Modern fanboys don’t have the intelligence to grasp that whatever the internet dick rides one month isn’t necessarily the only good thing out in the genre keeping it alive. Having one Dune franchise doesn’t mean shit if people aren’t able to open their minds to all aspects of the genre. Rebel Moon PG13 was the basic of basic bones because Zack had that at the essence of his script for both parts. The guy has planned this ENTIRE UNIVERSE like THOUSANDS OF YEARS of lore. Does anyone online have the sense to grasp that if you needed THAT made no one right now will let anyone do that not Nolan not Villeneuve NO ONE. Even AVATAR conceptually HAD TO be PG13… again from the very conception. Rebel Moon was and always intended to be Rated R if you see the hate PG13 and don’t mind waiting sure watch Rated R cuts this summer they’re the actual organic vision for this world. Now if you’re someone with a brain and wise enough to know these facts and still try to enjoy the basic bones of PG13 Rebel Moon, then watch the fucking movies in peace lol it ain’t that serious how these weirdo hateful “critics” and douches online are coming at it. Zack is a genius and the full realization of that genius mad dream of an ADULT sci-fi fantasy universe is coming THIS SUMMER with SIX HOURS across two films 3+ hours EACH RATED R!

Believe Zack when he says EVERYONE including Warner Bros always said no to his pitch that was the RATED R pitch because that’s ALWAYS been his pitch. Even when he tried to retro for his original vision into a Star Wars pitch it was rated R. Don’t consider the PG13s as fake versions. They’re just solid to the point films that were never really intended to exist but do. I don’t think anyone unless they’re really sensitive to gore and sex and violence will prefer the PG13 to rated R. Zack’s intention for his vision is while all of his directors cuts are always the superior version. Difference is like he’s been saying, Netflix straight up said “we’re down for this then” he’s just been wording it off cuz Zack’s got adhd I’m pretty sure and Dyslexia for sure. I love him lol but he sometimes repeats his beats so much in interviews it gets confusing. Any Snyder fan that’s been paying attention to his wording can make sense of this easily. Netflix only said yes to rated R rebel moon (which they allowed him btw to go OFF and do anything for although they did make him cut some cock out of Army of the Dead so who knows how far R they went), because HE himself suggested to sweeten the pot with a Pg13 cut now I imagine it wasn’t just Zack, Debbie and the other producers probably said something on that front too.
So again, Rated R is the original intent. PG13 is like the carved down version. Think of it like a tree that’s planted from a seed and grows into some insane heights and roots going as far as you can see and shoots out light into the sky. Then you have a branch left lol that’s PG13 still part of the tree but it’s just what you see what you get. You can try to gain more insight from that little branch to see maybe where it originally came from and what could’ve been this massive tree. BUT, like Zack said, previously his directors cuts were what traditional that label means, responses to the studio making Zack cut things. This time Zack Snyder basically had to offer up that semi compromised cut (again I say semi because realistically no one would greenlight his rated R so MAYBE Zack could’ve spent time and just reworked his entire vision to be only PG13 but then I doubt he’d bother with an R version entirely as a concept it would’ve been soft rated R like BvS and ZSJL think about how different those rated Rs are versus 300 and Watchmen… INTENT)!

Just like the theatrical cut of BvS, the PG-13 RM will be forgotten once R-Rated RM gets released.
I think some people's long-lasting hatred of BvS stems from the theatrical cut. to this day. that wretched thing has done more damage to Zack's work than anything else in my opinion. that's what made him public enemy no.1

Gonna wait for the director's cut to drop at once. So I could judge the movie once. Same thing I did with Batman v Superman. Never watched the PG13 cut ever again.
I watch the first one once and i couldn't finish it because i got bored half way through. And i don't think I'm gonna watch the sequel only because i was disappointed with the first one but that's just me

I fell asleep first time I watched it. granted, it was late at night and I was tired, but still. I'm an insomniac lolololol. that wasn't a good sign. I watched it the whole way through later, but man, I remained unconvinced. something was missing. hopefully these longer cuts will have "it".

It was a fun flick. I think more people just want 8 to 13 episidics these days and hate movies. You can only put so much into one film, and this hit five or six different planets in a two hour time spand. That's pretty good.
Dont forget star wars a new hope only had one planet shown on tatooine and nearly everything was told to you, not shown so...
The thing I have come to understand about Snyder movies, he needs time to cook. I think Part 2 will be a huge success. Part 1 was decent, but left me wanting TONS more. Teased a bunch of lore throughout.

I think it comes from being in the studio system. Sometimes you want to do one version that might make zero dollars and the studio pushes you into a pg13 film instead. It's why some films extended cuts are called unrated you know that's the director saying "I wanted it to be edgier but it was never clear if they'd let me".
So I'm guessing he decided to get ahead of that corporate bs and plan for both versions so the film comes out to his satisfaction regardless.
Now obviously if they say yes to the R rated cut it kinda feels like he should go "well then let's not do the pg13 cut" but I'm just tossing out the guess he was just playing it safe and guaranteeing they got viewers

The idea was : seven samurais/magnificent seven. except in space and except with more modern sci fi ideas (+potential tie into zombie verse and maybe even Norse gods verse, but all of that is just a background and seeds for potential franchise things to come) + some Snyder reflections on Star Wars troupes ("Han Solo", guy harassing Luke, clunky space armor that offers 0 difference compared to normal clothing of the good guys when against blasters, ideas of Star Wars that were clear 1:1 rip-off from Dune book but then got into their own ways with all sequels and prequels, etc) . Therefore I really don't see how even normal Part 1 "failed" anything. Besides people that prayed God that this time ZS won't be dream lensing this time.
Also he mentioned before that his R rated cut may have some differences with PG version. As in Josstice L/ZSJL but this time Zack Snyder both times and fully intended.

I know this will come as a shock to some of you but.... Not EVERYONE is like us 😱🙊 I know I know shocking let me explain. There are ppl that PREFER *less* explicit/graphic content. They may like the same songs and movies but not want to be exposed to all the unsavory extras. There's a reason the censored market exists. And there's nothing wrong with it.
You can come to the same conclusion whether you hear the "fucken" or not, see the rape or not, see the guts or not. In fact the imagination is the most powerful vfx engine. So if you broaden the fan base and it's not at the cost of the uncensored vision I don't see an issue. There's a reason R rated historically has a smaller audience

Yeah as much as i liked the snyderverse and felt for the guy after what had happened, IM starting to dislike Snyder the more time goes on. The dude genuinely doesn’t seem that self aware and keeps saying dome questionable stuff. Still like some of his movies though, he just needs to stop writing stories because he is not good at that at all.
I'm not gonna try and defend Rebel Moon as it's definitely not Zack's best work (at least in its current iteration), BUT, it's not exclusively written by him. Shay Hatten has a writing credit as well, it isn't exclusively Zack writing. the only self-written film that he's done is Sucker Punch, and we haven't gotten to see the full version of that yet. personally though, I would much rather prefer a Snyderverse handled by the DCEU era Snyder than by the post 2019 Snyder.

More focus on action is gonna make this even worse then first one, it had not sufficient world building or character development, now there is gonna be even less. This is gonna make it even more tedious and a chore to sit through.
Netflix didn’t want the R rated and the only way he would make it is if he agreed to make and release the PG13 first. That’s why!
