Steelers just gotta keep improving each week on offense and man it’s scary. Even if they play like they did against la they can win
Coach definitely ain’t putting their best stuff on film yet. I see them slowly growing the playbook with Justin fields and what has me so pumped is the balance they have on offense. I was hoping Russel Wilson started but I will say Fields legs made me a believer.

They don't want it to be out there for teams to study, especially with the 2nd part of their schedule after the bye week. People don't understand this but it's true and it's really a thing amongst NFL coaches*

It feels like the Steelers made all the right moves. All of the things that the Steelers did in the offseason that I had some question marks about have all turned out to be the correct moves. Getting Fields? Hiring Arthur Smith? Trading away Dionte Johnson for Donte Jackson? It's all looking like it's working out. I'm still only tentatively hopeful. We still have a lot of football to play and football is a game of injuries. Let's see how we're doing around week 15.

Making the playoffs repeatedly doesn’t really matter when you can’t get the job done. No one goes to the hall of fame for getting beat in the playoffs every year other than Dan Marino. People doubt the Steelers for the same reason as the cowboys, they can’t get it done when it matters.

McCarthy lost most games to Tomlin due to a trick play (onside kicks, etc), he'll be ready.
I'm a Steeler fan but appreciate McCarthy as a fellow yinzer.
They are taking a page from the 85 bears running the ball and rest your defense. Control the clock and a strong defense can win a lot of games

@@UmadBro88 each team put up almost 30 on their other opponents and then put up only 6-8 points against the Steelers… they all won before or after playing us. It helps to pay attention 👍🏼
I'm a Steelers fan myself but I say look at the statistic "average number of playoff wins per season" among currently active coaches. A Steelers talk show discussed this at the end of last season. Tomlin was 12 out of 15, with most of his playoff wins at the start of his career. Playoff wins matter and Steelers fans expect lots of them. There really hasn't been much to brag about since the Steelers' loss to Packers in Super Bowl XLV.
Fields is making passes like Ben used to. Thread the needle passes where you like , how was that not intercepted? Now some of those will be intercepted, but just like Ben’s TD to Santonio in the Super Bowl, you gotta rip it and take the risk . Love what I’m seeing from Fields .

As a Steelers fan, I want to believe. Justin gets more comfortable in the offense every week, but historically, the 3-5th week is usually when the QB falls apart for the Steelers, so I will sweat it out for another couple weeks. There is a lot of football to play and we have to stay healthy. It helps watching the Browns, Bengals and Ravens lose to teams they should run through
Steelers fan since 78. Defense is awesome and will keep em in games providing they stay healthy. The offense, even with the improving play from JF, still has huge question marks. As long as they keep improving and opening up the playbook a little at a time, things are looking up. BUT it’s a long season.

This is what the Steelers did in the 90's. Run heavy, Top Defense and wind down that clock. They went to a Superbowl that way. I love the old school Steeler Football!

Game could have been 27-10 but they ran the clock out on the 1yard line. They move the ball and are able to score points. The other recievers are starting to get comfortable and as that Happens Pickens gonna start murdering it . Austin has game breaking speed and can run nice routes, Wilson will probably get his first game under his belt this week at Indy and I believe he will be a problem as the season goes on for defenses. Fields footwork has improved dramatically and he has been insanely accurate.

Falcons and Broncos are supposedly “bad teams” yet Denver looked good week 1 bs Seattle and dominated a Bucs team who people were up on. ATL week 1 was all excuses then they beat Philly and take KC to wire. LAC been dominate and now it’s “Herbert got hurt” bro didn’t go down till end of 3rd and they were getting dominated. The Steelers feel like a team straight out of the 2000's with their defense. Still a lot to be seen out of them but if they make the playoffs that defense is not one I'd want to face

I want the Steelers to win another Superbowl badly. And I get the frustration with Tomlin and the Steelers for falling short. But I will ride with Tomlin no matter what. The way the players talk about him and the respect they have for him is enough for me to believe in Tomlin to get it done. I hope he stays as the coach for a long time. HERE WE GO!

As a die hard but realistic steeler fan, while I'd like to say were contenders, were not there yet. We have the best pass rush with a pretty decent linebacker group and great run defense, however, unless donte jackson can play like jpj I will ALWAYS have questions about our secondary because man coverage corners are more effective especially if they have minkah in the box. Our offense has improved with utilizing Justin Fields skill set. My main concern is still being too conservative on offense. 1st off, arthur smith needs to have at least 1 or 2 more chunk rpos installed in the offense that will test justins throwing ability. He clearly has an arm and can actually throw accurately, but I need to see couple more drag and rpo middle of the field throws that can be over 20 yards. Lastly is scoring... my main critique of our proven head coach is always keeping games close rather than winning by more than 2 scores. We absolutely have to put up 30 points in a game at least 4 times this year in order for the Steelers to go the distance in the potential playoffs and maybe onward when they face some tougher defenses.
Ive always had love for Coach T but i have been very skeptical the past few years. Ive been absolutely loving what im seeing this year. Im not quite excited enough to have hope but Coach T and the black and gold are settling some of my woes. Now lets see if they can get past the classic steelers trap games

They say defense wins championships and as long as this defense stays healthy, the Steelers will be contenders. Look at Super Bowl 50, Broncos vs Panthers. It was marketed as the number 1 defense against the number 1 offense and the defense team won. The offense has shown improvement every single week and if they keep improving bit by bit then the Steelers will be a threat. New OC, new coordinators, young o-line dealing with injuries and the run game is always better in Nov/Dec, it’s not a fairytale that the O will continue to improve each week.
Two games ahead of the Ravens.
Imagine Fields goes into Indy and goes somewhere close to 20/30 with 270+ yds, 2 TD's and the Steelers win 27-13 or something close to that. There would be no way that they could go to Russ, hell, I don't see how they go to Russ now.

Rick, Mike is Mike, we know this. Yes he’s a great coach but hasn’t had a true contender since 2010. Yes, all winning seasons, great guy but we want contenders. Right now it does look good. Not getting ahead myself but Fields and the O growing as D is great. We haven’t had a balance in a long time. This is why fans talked about change and Tomlin going. He needs to have our Steelers being a threat in the playoffs, winning and hasn’t over a decade.
This doesn’t change how great he is as a coach. He’s got another 3 years to prove it. Fans will talk smack and frustration if it doesn’t happen.
I’m happy where we are and want to keep improving. Hopefully we found the key.

Steelers D held the Chargers to -4 total yards in the second half. Opponents have only scored 10, 6 and 10 points. Falcons, Broncos and Chargers.. A couple key acquisitions on D, most notably Patrick Queen, and they are nasty. Once they grind you down, Tomlin unleashes the front five and it's game over. Here we Go! Here we come Indy, it's a "two chinstrap game" as Jerome Bettis used to say.

Steelers fan here living 12 miles outside the city. I don't hate Tomlin, don't buy into the whole super coach moniker though. Results? Yea... never a losing season W-L wise, but also not enough playoff wins for a long time.... and that's the yardstick Steelers fans use... yea he got a SB win... not much to brag about since. To be fair, Steelers teams have under performed more times than I care to remember... that's got alot to do with coaching of course, but the players also have to step up... and that wasn't the case alot also.... Mike's a guaranteed HOF coach... he's no Belichek, no Reid... sorry... you can't just keep pulling that never losing season nonsense out... he's lacking in playoffs too much overall.... and that's where it really matters in the long run... am i wrong?
We'll revisit the Tomlin thing after the second half of the schedule, when they play real teams. We are a watt, or Hayward injury away from our offense not being able to put up enough points. Our secondary is getting gashed.. wide open blown coverages.

If Fields starts every game, they are going nowhere. He is in a new division that have not practiced or prepared to play against Justin. It took a few games until the defenses found his flaws and shut him down. He has some very noticeable weaknesses and he isnt gonna help he Steelers.

This is nothing new for PIT. Great D (doesnt always happen but it does happen frequently for them) and just enuf Offense. Not surprised. The only surprise is they started this way instead of finishing this way to squeak into the playoffs or avoid a losing season. We'll see what happens this week with a trip to Indy (a team theyre supposed to beat and the kiss of death for Tomlin's career).
