Very relatable, from the constant body tension, to the irregular/un-restorative sleep, to the recent resurgence of that "intrinsically wanting to accomplish things" feeling! "Deep pains" like you said can fly under the radar for so long, and they absolutely can be a source of burnout if they dysregulate your automatic nervous system into a constant state of survival. Practices that help regulate the automatic nervous system, like yoga nidra and "coherent breathing," have recently given me my longest sequence of consistent and restful sleep in years - maybe worth trying if you haven't already, I got them from the book "Wake Up to Sleep." I really like your idea of using exercise-frequency as a marker of progression, as I've noticed a heavy aversion to exercise indicates I haven't been listening to my body enough - I think I'll try to keep better track of that. This video was indeed helpful, and I wish you all the peace and relaxation your body needs!
what a crossover
I'm glad you've been seeing success, this stuff is NO JOKE!!!
Just started running again shortly after making this update after a 2+ month break, and already feels like a different experience than before. Let's keep going and be our best selves! I wish you every ounce of healing and happiness you rightfully deserve. =)
I just start watching lazypurple again and I’m greeted with this, today jsut keeps getting weirder and weirder
Yeah, controlling your breathing helps a lot when you can’t sleep at night from what I’ve noticed. Even something really simple like focusing on your worries as leaves floating along a stream helps. Mindfulness goes hard when you wanna sleep. It’s really just little things like that which will bring forth progress, and I don’t think enough people know that
@@PPMD1 Kevin, check out Wim Hof if you haven't already. I've had some pretty bad anxiety for a long time and the breathing techniques that Wim Hof teaches are very very helpful.

This hits so different now that you’ve been so involved with the community.
I’ve always believed, and so have many others. Looking forward to the return!!

WE LOVE YOU PPMD
Ppmd, I had a stressful interview yesterday. But I just listened to your song from the metagame documentary titled “the final battle.” It plays during my favorite scene of the documentary where you are talking about how you have worked hard and deserve the win. I think that helped me out myself in the right mind space. I had been working so hard for that interview and I wanted to do well because I deserved it. The interview went well. Thank you so much for all that you do. It has inspired me and countless others, I’m sure!
Nice man keep that positive attitude going and work hard for what you want to achieve and you’ll always be happy with yourself, win or lose! 👍🏼👍🏼
@@murky16 Thanks man! I appreciate it!
Kevin you're an inspiration, I've been struggling to recover from an attempt to take my own life late last year and seeing your openness and refusal to give up gives me hope, love you man
Glad you're still here g.
I am also glad you are still here with us. You are a fucking legend, everyone in this community has you back no matter what
Love that man PPMD! Happy birthday Kevin!
Hope you doing well too, Kevin ❤
Kevin- I have faced very similar issues in my day to day. My coping mechanism was drinking-which obviously was terrible and caused further problems. I'm so happy to hear that you are finding relief now, as am I. I look forward to these every time you do them (despite the difficulty im sure they give you), as it helps me feel like other people are going through similar things, with success. Keep fighting the good fight brother, you got this, and thank you for the expanded perspective!
Hahahaha, when you brought up dropping the shoulders I realized that not only my shoulders but my feet and jaw were all tightened up too!
Best of luck to you PP, you're a great guy.
Wake up babe PPMD health update just came out
I CANNOT OVERSTATE HOW GOOD THIS IS TO HEAR!!!
Seeing healthy PP is best PP hehehe.
Watching these health updates really helped put some more perspective on myself and that I might have the same issue as you.
Ironically, I had to injure myself to actually realize how important physical activity is for your mind and how much more alert and WILLING you are as a result of it. Its usually something youre aware of but not something that sits on the forefront until youre forced to look at it.
Been doing PT for the last month or so and its a wave of revitalization for my mind. I have something that I truly appreciate being able to do, and its now my goal to never let that slip away again.
So good to hear things turning around for you. Congratulations, Kevin on your breakthroughs.
The world is yours. that feeling of excitement is a huge sign, it will carve itself out further and further until your freedom glares with a burning retribution.
God bless your story and struggle of commanding a rebirth within your body and soul through such hard work. It’s a beautiful sight like that of the phoenix that comes back stronger and more pure.
Clearly you have overcome so much to find and master yourself further. The rewards are pouring in now. Cheers and don’t stop.
really well put mekk, great post and i’m so happy for you pp, always keep fighting brother because it’s always worth it
YOU KNOW I WONT STOP. CHEERS KING

Dang man, huge props for acknowledging and working on your deeper traumas. You are an inspiration! Happy upcoming birthday! :)
Thanks for sharing this. I know what you mean about the "getting back the desire to DO" thing. Struggling to find the fire in me after losing it for several years now, but I'm finding it more often than I used to. Best of luck ♥️
Honestly one of my favorite people to listen to. He taught me about how to stick to your personal goals and health. Whatever he decides to do I am here for it.
11:50, best news of the update imo. The fact that you're just now experiencing it screams progress!
One way I try to spark it, is to think of something that could happen, and indulge fully in the feeling it gives you when you imagine it coming to fruition. Some might say this can be bad, and yes, if you never attempt to follow through, I'd say that's unhealthy, but the only way to make motion, is to put energy in!
Interesting tip, I'll try that out. I think it'd be most healthy if I imagine it as a byproduct of something productive I could actually do. Don't want to get stuck imagining grand ambitions that'll just make reality feel inadequate in comparison.
You’re an inspiration dude, I’ve been struggling with self realization and I always have these moments where I’m dead set on the negatives and my own inadequacies. You’re showing that the process to self healing is real and it’s truly waking me up. Thank you doc ❤
Your journey is a good reminder to me that recovery can take a long time (multiple years and that's ok). I hope others can watch this and also remind themselves that if they think they take too long, that it is not the case and that they shouldn't feel ashamed about themselves
My grandma told me that vulnerability is real strength and that you need to be vulnerable to build trust. Thanks for trusting us with how things are going in your life. Sometimes I find it hard to be honest with people I know, let alone thousands of people on the internet. You're inspiring in ways that are way bigger than melee
Hope you're going well 👍
Hi from France 🇫🇷😁
Hey buddy, just watched, glad to see you're looking into your mental health, I've also made some big steps in this area with a therapist recently, and it's paying dividends in everything I do from Smash to everyday life! Hope it keeps doing the same for you! Hope to see you soon 😃
Stay off twitter and reddit if you want to improve your mental health
Really proud of you that you're able to show us your vulnerable side! Takes a lot of courage! I think you're on a good way! Keep it up!
It’s so valuable to be able to be vulnerable, it’s really undervalued
It shows, man.
I've heard it said that people with great trauma end up either horrendous, or as a shining example. I think there's some truth to that.
You hold wisdom that's hardly accessible to those who haven't been through hell. Most importantly, you CHOOSE to act on it positively. That takes almost inhuman strength, man. Seriously.
Keep up the good work. Be that example to others still suffering that there IS a route upwards!
❤💪
Hi PP. Thank you for the update and I'm so happy to hear that things are improving. I also have myriad chronic health issues and hearing you talk about your health issues makes me feel more seen.
One thing I do want to say, and I think most of the community would agree with me on this, is that you have contributed more than enough to the melee scene. While we would all be happy to see you compete again, we are also happy to see the content and perspective you lend the game. In whatever way you want to be part of the community today, you will be welcome here. If there comes a time where you want to share less about your health, or stop making melee content, we will respect that.
It's a joy to hear from you. Stack it up, PP
This was very brave of you, Kevin! Thank you! I wish you nothing more than the very best of luck and that everything will work out for you :)
Gods don't bleed.
You can prove to the world you havent bled yet.

This vid is making me tear up, bro. So happy to see you're improving and making great strides.
Much love to you from the community ♥
We love you so much!! And take it as slow as you need! Mental health and physical health can't be rushed and you've been doing awesome!
Beyond happy to see you getting better. Your presense in Smash has made me resoundingly happy for years. Best wishes to you, PP!
STACK IT UP BABY!! I'm glad you're doing better Kevin!
Loved this video man! A lot of things always come down to sleep and rest. I've had sleep issues my whole life due to chronic allergies and congestion, sleep apnea, sleep paralysis, and sleep walking. Yet I never addressed these issues until my health began faltering as I was nearing 30. I also drank very heavily in my 20's and overall neglected my health a lot, recently got diagnosed with low testosterone as well. It's always great to see other people doing well and gives me a lot of hope. Keep it up and we are rooting for you!!
You got this, you’ve always been my favorite pro, and that hasn’t changed. It’s cool to look back and see how much you’ve improved over the years and I look forward to the return of the king
Glad to hear you've been working on your mental and emotional stuff, too. Not realizing that tension used to mean I'd get surprised by my own exhaustion or outbursts. Good luck on your healing 🙏
Love you PP, hope you know that so many people do care about you always
Ended up spending wayyyyy too much time at work this week. I needed this lol
Wishing Kevin happy birthday!! Take this +100 luck!🎉

Lotta French support for PP here. Awesome to see! I'm curious what brought his popularity over there

Thank you PP. I'm grateful for having you on my life and I'm cheering for you and everyone else here who do their best to help others and themselves.
I'm going on a very important trip next year to my hometown for the first time since I left when I was 9 years old (I'm 20 now), so your insight about your own experiences help me to better understand myself which I think it's what you're trying to do, so thank you so much again for being here and for your presence over the years. It has definitely made an impact on my life.
Love you PP, we appreciate the update!
Thanks for the update PP - sounds like you made some breakthroughs for your emotional/mental health! It’s crazy how everything is tied together. The fact that you’re feeling hyped is HUGE! I know what it’s like to feel that again after a while of stagnation, it almost feels like a switch turns on and there’s a lot of energy and excitement. You rock!
Love from belgium, we are at least 2 to support you from here 🇧🇪
hey pp, I'm going through a similar low energy situation in regards to depression, but I've also gone through some therapy and am starting to feel better. Was great to hear someone else going through this and also finding help and change through it :)
thank you for sharing it means a lot to me in my situation
PP YOU DA GOAT!!!
i still watch your sets with armada, the way you moved around was sick, truly a god of the neutral game. It was clear you were tired though, good thing you realized, health first, goat status second
So happy for you man im not into melee but you and M2K have always been my favorite. Love you so much man please take care of yourself both physically and mentally.
Your dedication to your body and your mind is nothing short of admirable! Take every thing at your own pace we love you PP!
Don’t feel any stress with sharing details, so many people in the community won’t share any of their struggles because they don’t want to be vulnerable. The fact that you’re being open at all shows huge growth and a good kind of vulnerability, keep feeling those feelings PP 💕
This is the best thing I've heard all year. I hope the healing continues and propagates more joy in your heart.
hello to the ppmd french community
Oui oui baguette community support you and is behind you !
There is something so genuine in the way you express your way through your pain. I have been dealing with depression my whole life, and chronic pain the past decade, and there's something about the way you talk about this that gives me a lot of hope. Currently going through a really tough year after thinking I was out of the woods for a year or two. It's such a difficult thing to monitor and it's incredible you share the process, I don't think anyone else does it so well.
Thanks for sharing PP, we love you and this means a lot. We are here with you 💜
That's awesome to hear! I'm so glad that you're doing better and It's really inspiring how positive you hold yourself despite the circumstances. We love you PP!
Glad to hear you're feeling better PP! You must know yourself super well now, the way you talk about yourself and how you're feeling, I strongly admire that trait! The PP gang will always support you, lots of love ❤
practiced with green falco during the entire video, glad ur doing well
Glad you’re able to share some of your journey with us and love to hear that you’re doing better! I’m sure it’s not been easy so far and hope you feel a great sense of support despite that.
Kevin,
Your willingness to be open about your struggles is a sign of great strength, not weakness. And I think it’s important work you’re doing to show other people that being vulnerable is okay!
It seems like you might have gone to hell and back with your training sessions, and the fact that you chose to pursue that route for the betterment of your well-being shows what a fighter you are. No one can ever take that away from you.
I can’t speak for anyone else but all I want is to see you healthy and happy, no matter how long that takes! “Returning to form” or competing again isn’t even in the conversation in my mind, just do whatever you gotta do to get well again :) And I think possibly healthier than ever before!
Hearing that you’ve found excitement about something again is massive. Take that W to the bank, that is extremely important!!
Keep fighting the good fight man, your journey is an inspiration. Much love ✌️
Just wanna say that vulnerability is a wonderful quality to find in a person. Anyone who's willing to say things to people without fear of judgement encourages others to approach them to do the same. Vulnerability conveys honesty.

I probably identify more with your struggles than I should (obviously I don't actually know you) but it's really nice to hear that you're feeling better. It gives me some motivation/hope of doing better for myself. I've always been a fan of your sick Marth/Falco, but that's not even 1% of why you're my favorite player. Stay strong PPMD, and good luck!
T1 diabetic of 27 years since age 5. Major depressive disorder as well. You know how hard it can be living with chronic illness! Stay strong and keep up the great work, it's a challenging balancing act that lots of people will never know or take for granted. You are worth it!
You are looking so much more energized and invigorated. I'm so happy for you and glad your health journey have yielded wonderful result. You are a real one for the advice and not being afraid to share your feelings and thoughts. Takes a brave ass dude to do that. Love ya.
Wishing the best for you PP, I can't imagine going through what you are going through. It's really incredible how much work you've put in yourself!
I haven’t followed Melee or Smash since probably 2018, but I am very glad to see you doing so much better. You’ve always seemed to be a really genuine honest person, and it’s very uplifting to see you starting to come out on the other side of it. Always wishing you the best.
You look great, PP. Glad you’re improving! Everyone has their own pace, and their own path, it’s only important that we all find our own and stay on it.
Really happy to hear you're gradually improving. Brings a tear to my eye. :')
Wishing you the best of luck!
Man you're looking so good. Glad to see you up and around!
I like you PP… you’re just a good dude. Heart of gold, and as sincere as a person gets. Much love and mad respect from a Wisconsin fan.
Happy birthday!!!!!!!! We all love ya
Sending love and positivity your way :) I got into melee more seriously during your rise and you were an incredible inspiration in the scene. So good to see you open up about things and I’m glad you’re as positive as you are! I was beyond thrilled to see you join GG Melee and look forward to what your future holds. MUCH LOVE TO THE GOOD DOCTOR
Good luck and happy birthday!
God bless you!! I remember watching the original health update video when I was a kid and was wondering what happened to your exposure in the scene.. since you came back into the community I've been SO blessed by your presence in the world of melee content, and tournaments/community in general. you're an inspiring example of the work Christ can do in us!
I've been having a rough like half decade as well man. And I recently have started feeling that "I want to do things" feeling too. I've been really, really struggling trying to get back into and get through school after changing a major and I've felt really isolated and overall alienated for the last as long as I can remember, really.
Just recently, I've been making huge, conscious strides towards doing more stuff. I recently made a weekly non-work, non-school commitment just for me and my pleasure. I've started trying to change up my routine a bit to be better too.
It's all these small steps that you can't necessarily see, but they do add up.
Thanks for being open and vulnerable. As a dude in the nerd sphere, especially a pretty insular and competitive nerd sphere, it takes a lot of guts to open up and be vulnerable, but it also sets a great example. We should deal with our issues and emotions and vulnerable thoughts without fear, and you doing it sets a fantastic example to others that it is not only okay to do, but healthy to do.
Keep up the good work, and keep getting better. One day at a time, one step at a time.
We love you Kevin! Best Wishes and we are hoping for the best for your health!
Hey, PP, it's a comments but I'm writing this to you. I trust you'll read this. You've always been my favorite melee player. I got into smash when I was like 7 with 64, but didn't learn about competitive melee until later. My very first tourney watching live was Apex 2015. Even with Zain around your still my favorite Marth I love watching the highlights. I love how you have become a teacher despite not playing competitively. Obviously, I'd love to see you play competitively again. The competition is fierce these days and I'd still be a PP guy; even if you're not #1, "that's okay." Even if you never enter a tourney again I'll still watch your stream and melee jeopardies. I just think it's amazing that you've managed to find a great melee niche and do what you love to do. You talk about self-expression being an amazing part of the game and I 100% agree, and I see it when you play. Just keep doing what you love. I love watching you play either way.
Really happy to hear that things are moving forward for you despite the challenges you are facing 💪
As someone that is about to go see an endocrinologist for the same exact issue as you're going through with low testosterone, this was nice to watch. I have seen all your videos also in regards to your health and I love to see where you're at because it feels like we're dealing with the same battle. Hope to see you in the next one, or not. Your choice. =)
This is a good day for this video. I'm coming to terms with the idea that I most likely have ADHD and never got treatment for it until now. I'm turning 27 soon and I can't stop thinking about what life could have been if this got checked sooner.
I think it's important to remember the positive aspects too. Now that I finally figured this out I've got an appointment with a psychiatrist scheduled, and I may finally be able to treat what very well may be the root cause of my mental illnesses and substance abuse.
Thank you for taking the time to share and push yourself. It makes me happy to see you're still hard at work on your life.
hi ppmd. i've discovered your channel with bronol's documentary, and ever since, ive watched every video youve posted. im glad youre doing well, and i hope that youre gonna come back to the scene again. tomorrow, or in several other years... ill watch your comeback! take care! lots of love from France
Congratulations on all the progress you’ve made and really appreciate you being able to show vulnerability. Happy upcoming bday🎉
Big ups man, you’re a hero to many. Also you look great, very healthy.
Love you man. Happy to see you happy
Glad to see things are getting better for you ! Hope they will continue to improve, you deserve it PP ❤️

One of the most difficult things a person can do is make themselves vulnerable - let alone a man - especially to society as a whole. I have a ton of respect for you, and even though we've never met, I wish the absolute best for you. Also I apologize if this is repetitive, but one of the best things to promote testosterone growth naturally is muscle building exercises. At any rate, I'm glad at the growth you've made and level of self-awareness you've reached so far. I hope you continue to grow and surround yourself with people that will love and support you in that growth!
Looking good man I hope you keep trucking along
Lots of love Kevin, you seem to be a very intelligent and kind person, and we appreciate all the hard work you do for this community. Good luck!
Love you PPMD! Always happy to hear from you
Good on you mate. Hope you continue your healing and growth
Stay well PPMD! Keep growing in your journey!
I hope you keep feeling better!
As someone who has struggled with chronic pain for several years now I relate to your journey a lot, I'm so glad things are improving for you, progress is the hardest thing to achieve and I'm glad you're feeling more positive, as I'm sure you know its a huge factor to how you feel day to day. I hope things keep getting better for you despite the daily struggle. I know all too well how hard it can be to be away from things you love (such as playing melee) due to physical issues. I find your mindset in and out of game very inspiring, especially as you mentioned trusting someone to support you mentally, as I'm working through physical and metal therapy.
I feel I can speak for everyone when I say we're all rooting for you and hope you can return to tournaments or do more coaching/slippi content or really wherever you decide to land, we will all love the great work you do for this community wholeheartedly.
thank you for all the inspiration over the years PPMD.
Sincerely, a struggling Falco main
Hey Happy Birthday, birthday buddy. Happy to see things are looking up Millhouse and God bless you PP 👍
It just warms my soul seeing all the improvements youve made and to see you looking this good! keep up the great work pp and happy freaking birthday!
Love you, give yourself your best, you deserve it!
Really glad to hear you're doing well, as someone whose struggled similarly I can't help but urge you to look into Neurodiversity and what's going on there. Congrats on appreciating vulnerability and best of luck moving forward
