      I don't want to sound too fanboyish, but I think Sig has been innovating on a level that no other firearm company has. When you try to push the envelope, sometimes you're going to have failures. Most are QC'd out before they hit the market, but there are limitations to how much development you can apply to a product before you release it and begin seeing a return of investment.

    • @KitBadger

      I feel you, but I do appreciate that they move on. Look at SureFire for example. They make some amazing muzzle devices, and their cans are great, especially from a durability standpoint, but they are still using the same locking ring that can require you to shoot the can off after it becomes welded on with carbon. Sometimes you need to let things die and move on to better tech.

      Technically it still is molten hot metal, but small enough to be classified as 'sintering'. The metal is in powdered form, a microscopic combo if the material and flux; then a laser heats up a point on the surface and fuses a small portion of the powder together. Lol OSS copy cats all the way down to the tapered mounting so no fouling into the locking mechanism

    • @joshparker4491

      Wrong. Flow through silencers with out the front venting have existed since at least 1910, and flow through silencers with out the front venting with coaxial spiraling elements have existed since at least 1919/1927. Multiple layers sending gas back and forth have existed since at least 1925. OSS didn't invent any of that stuff at all, and they sure didn't come up with taper mounts either. YHM's mount patent from 2006 specifically mentions using a gas sealing taper in front of the threads and secondary retention method.

      @@joshparker4491 YHM's 06 design didn't catch the eyes of the industry, OSS's flow through design(their design no on elses) brought something new to the industry. It's their design, they made it. SIG saw the mass attention OSS got and followed suit to make their own copy of it, kinda like how Chevy copies Ford after Ford made the raptor and would you look at all the chevy trucks today the resemblance of the Ford Raptor. Using your logic if someone made a simple metal brick that could hold up the empire state building by using their own methods and metallurgy to make the brick withstand the immense weight of an entire building, they didn't invent shit because someone else "designed" the brick and someone else "discovered" the specific metal they used 1,000 years ago. lmfao

    q the fix knock off, not sure how you can promote their product given your relationship to Q.

    • @KitBadger
      @KitBadger  4 роки тому

      People that want a Fix, don't want a Cross. And anyone that begins comparing the two, really just wants a Fix and are trying to justify spending less on the Cross. They are largely two separate markets. The Cross is probably a great rifle (I haven't spent meaningful time with it), and for the price beats out anything else in that price range, but it isn't the Fix.

    • @joshparker4491
      @joshparker4491 4 роки тому

      You're wrong, you have it completely backwards. Q copied the Fix from a SIG striker fired rifle prototype which existed long before Q was even a thought. Even Ethan Lessard, who is Q's head engineer, told me about it a number of years ago. Q wasn't launched until 1 MAR 2016. The Fix was publicly announce 28 DEC 2016. Preorders for the Fix were started 1 FEB 2017. The means they were designed, prototyped, tested, and everything necessary to go to production had been complete in only a 7-8 month window, and that's because they had a significant head start because they copied it from SIG's prototype, not because they had EnGiNeErS. Q also took the Erector from SIG when they left. A SIG video from April 2015 titled "SIG Silencers, Episode 1: Why SIG" even shows a SIG employee working on the Erector, that guy now works at Q. Either way the Erector is a copy of a 1992 Heckler & Koch patent for scalable thread together baffles and also a copy of the scalable thread together baffles with exterior tool features from Nielsen and Schultz & Larsen silencers. Q just happened to release a version of it before SIG, just like they did with the Fix.

    So I learned hardly anything at all about the can! Yay! No cutaway or video to show a comparison with their oldwr designa or other baffle designs or against something like OSS or Larue Or LMT...
