This right here is why I love when racing games have no-lap track accommodations! I wish the likes of Sonic Riders or Allstars Racing had tracks like this! The only thing that could have made this better would be if arriving at the Beginner track started the music at the final chorus so that it could end on a more triumphant note.
when i saw the track selection in full glory my jaw just dropped! holy crap this emulation is getting closer to perfection! and the shiny car reflection looks nice!!!
Thank you a lot for your reply, Bart. I feel very honored by this ... your emulator is one of the very best around, and that emulating relatively recent arcade hardware. I got the r258 SVN from here: w w w .emucr .com / 2012 / 02 / supermodel-svn-r258 .html and ran it using Supermodel-UI v0.8 build 115 In one night I could revive all my arcade favorites that never saw a home port by SEGA: Star Wars Trilogy, Scud Race, Daytona USA 2, Lost World, Ocean Hunter ... KUDOS+++
I have very precise fingers :) Similar to a Jedi, I move the joystick simply by thinking about it and my body subconsciously translates those thoughts into barely perceptible twitches. If you find this technique too difficult to master, you can play with the joystick saturation settings, which are described in README.txt.
hey bart, just found this and is looking awsome!! truely amazing work man. also looks like the slow down poits on the advance track have been smoothed out?
Yes, the speed problems are fixed. However, we are still struggling with some other problems and inconsistencies. I expect that the VS2 games will be okay from the next version onwards.
@orimarc The slow-down has to do with texture uploads. Each time a texture is uploaded, Supermodel is forced to discard all cached geometry and re-parse it from scratch. We know what causes the mis-colored textures but I don't think it's fixable until the 3D engine is rewritten from scratch (at some point, it will be, but I'd rather get as much figured out as I can before doing that).
faster than 3 min to secure a win in single mode; 2m50s to secure a win in 4 player mode; 3m15s is the slowest to complete the course; tested in thousands acarde games 20 years ago...
Read the video description, please. This is a WIP version of Supermodel v0.3a (not yet released). The title screen graphics have been fixed. You can change the text to English by changing the region code (it's discussed in the README.txt file).
@hippocrates72 The "WIP" in 0.3a means "work-in-progress". I cannot provide builds because 0.3a is still in development and I don't have the time to maintain a rapid release schedule. Version 0.3a will be released when it's finished (probably not before June). The source repository at Sourceforge is freely accessible so that anyone with a compiler and the requisite know-how can build the latest development, work-in-progress versions.
That's really nice! I've been expecting an emulated version of Daytona USA 2 since ages. Now, I recall that the sound effects had better quality in the original. Will this be fixed?
Hi friend. I`m getting lags in some points of this track, do you think my hardware is not good enough or it is a problem with my room or with the Supermodel? Thanks for helping. I really love this arcade games and I wold like to play it with my G27 wheel to remember the old times.
Frame skipping will be implemented at some point. Why would you want to disable lighting? It would look terrible and the performance impact is negligible.
Hey Mr.bart, i have a question for the model 3 emulator, so I have downloaded the daytona usa 2 rom for it, but how do i load this to the emulator? Maybe you can answer it
@shadowmaster0111 It all depends on how many mhz you want to give the emulators to emulate. You can try using a PPC mhz of 50 or more. I did some testing back then with my Phen II x6 and found no problem to run any game at 60fps (at least the ones without trouble with geometry updates and similar).
Unfortunately I don't have a personal Mac that I can run Supermodel on. The Mac port was done a long time ago. I'm not even sure if the latest source code still builds for Mac because the new graphics engine uses OpenGL features that are not supported by Apple. :(
BartTrzynadlowski I have Terminal, the Supermodel file, and the Daytona 2 ROM installed, and I watched a video on how to run the games, and it says image not found :(
@@pra_stock34 Not sure that I can help, unfortunately. Assuming the ROM image is complete, it is as simple as running "./supermodel daytona2.zip" if daytona2.zip is in the same folder as "supermodel".
@@pra_stock34 You can also try looking at the instructions for a Windows terminal on the Supermodel web page. The process should be similar for Mac: place the ROMs and the executable in the same folder, get there in the terminal, and then run the command.
кылэ ςαλεσ lol, but I wish hotwheels made a game called: hotwheels Daytona revolution. it would be awesome with jumps, loops, and a BOOST. sadly, I don't know when Mattel will release another game. it would look nice on the Nintendo switch.
Pick up that can not as well as on a good touchscreen I’m guessing... try getting your phone fixed, or buy a new phone if the touchscreen is no good...
+fai hiu Easy. Check out the instructions in attract mode. Release the accelerator, tap the brake, turn, and re-apply gas. Alternatively, you can forego tapping the brake and instead simply release the accelerator at high speed, quickly jerk the steering wheel to cause the car to lose traction, and then hit the gas again.

Wow its like living my childhood at the mall's arcade all over again..
This racing track just made me remember all the memories of my childhood with this game.
This track is so beautiful....

Amazing slide drift towards the end, Bart - great video!
i am so sad we did not get a dreamcast version of this
yeah

+Ciprian Mogosanu - I also would have loved to see a PC version and a few other old console versions.
Not only did you take 1st place on the challenge course, you did it on the emulator you made. Even more badass.
Impressive, specially with the Scorpio and auto-shift.
I wish some racing games were like this.
@BartTrzynadlowski Good job, Bart. You are working very hard on this and your skills has greatly improved. Excellent.

Well done on your 1st place there Bart. I can't believe you manage to do so well just using a joypad, impressive thumb skills indeed.
MrThunderwing mine fingers are a bit faster when i play Mario Kart DS on a keyboard.

I'm glad this emulator has model 3 support. MAME is a great emulator but most of its games are not working.

Nice run! Have you figured out what causes the slowdown at 1:52? And if it's related to the road texture looking...LSD-ish?

How do I download this to Windows 7?

good work
very nice bart. Can you win using the Hornet Classic? I'm gonna upload my video tomorrow!!

4-23 game over YEAH
I'm too busy to take requests, sorry. You don't have to keep posting this anymore. You are free to try it yourself and upload your own video.
I wonder if this kind of track ever existed in real NASCAR competition

WHERE can we download Supermodel 0.3a-WIP ?
WHEN will it be available officially ??
Bart, how do I play this game in widescreen? Cuz I tried it and it doesn't work at all
FairCraft Use the -wide-screen option on the command line or set WideScreen=1. If you’re using a GUI, consult with their documentation.
great video and WHY U NO PICK MANUAL
