FINALLY! You've officially entered the AMV side of anime UA-cam! I've long waited for this day!!!! AMV stands for animated Music video. They are literally edited music videos of anime using popular songs. It's a HUGE part of older anime UA-cam. There are THOUSANDS of AMVs
This is basically a very high quality edit of mishmashed scenes from dozens of anime to make it look like a Got Talent season. I was honestly amazed when I first saw it years ago
Yeah, theis is what - 10+ years old? I remember channels like BestAMVsOfAllTime used to publish winning AMVs from various contests, but some years back everything got wiped with strikes. I have a few downloaded onto my hard disk, but so many of them are pretty hard to find now.
@@GOTGames: this video, along with "Anime 404", shows characters that have been extracted out of their own animes by hand, frame by frame! Please look up lolligerjoj (for example his Bakemonogatari video "Into the Labyrinth"), he did absolutely insane edits that basically take characters from one or several anime and re-arrange them to tell a completely new, unrelated story. He was also one of the first who used computer technology to interpolate 24fps anime to 60fps video. AMVs have a long history; afaik they started in the '90s when people used videotape recorders to cut and paste frames and scenes, just like musicians used captured and edited audio samples to create new music.
We need to start giving you the context for these 😅 This is an insanely well edited AMV of a lot of different anime, cropped and rotoscoped from years ago when the technology wasn't just push a button and AI does it for you. It was probably hundreds of hours of cutting anime episodes frame by frame. People don't make stuff like that no more (at least noone that I'm aware of). It is a part of anime community history, alongside other creators like Baka Oppai, Azukano, Defi Brilator to name a few more known
Souls team is still a pretty active crew. Some big editors have also released new edits within the past year or so. RealQwaqa, DN@ and Nostro come to mind. Its a time consuming art that they don't get income for, so the upload schedule isn't exactly fast
Honestly the show only really gets sad close to the end. Personally, I wasn't able to get attached to the characters since the violent comedy was often out of place

Anyways, respect to him for embracing the anime culture despite his lack of understanding. 1:38 Please react to Tenjou Tenge opening and ending I'm begging you! You already saw the TWO BIG reasons why some of us were recommending this anime to you before. I know, you know, everybody knows now that you like to see more of it. I can see it in your eye pupils, they haven't stop jiggling ever since dude! Just kidding lol
Holy moly this was a blast from the past. I remember when this video first came out, it was so cool seeing a bunch of anime characters together in a America's/Britain's Got Talent-like show which was still super popular at the time. Most of the anime shown here were some of the most popular ones from the pre-2015 era, including Your Lie in April (which you've done an opening/ending reaction to!)
Shame you didn’t seem to understand the video, it’s supposed to be like America’s Got Talent but with characters from basically all popular anime from back then. Basically the entirety of the video is just characters edited from their respective series with their backgrounds perfectly cut out and mashed together to form a coherent Anime’s Got Talent. It’s EXTREMELY impressive editing work.
You were right. This is called a amv (anime music video) and the concept is taking scenes from one or more animes and combine it with fitting music. Some AMVs fit the music to the anime, some do it the other way round and some -like this- make a movie out of both. This amv was made as a parody to the talentshow "america's got talent".
I was in absolute AWE when I watched this years ago, with the insane level of editing and love put into this one short video. I also find videos mashing animes together so fun to watch for some reason, like the girl from Your Lie in April casually crushing shonen Main Characters only to be topped by Lelouch. These different anime worlds colliding gave me so much dopamine every time I watched it XD
7:00 WHAT?! You haven't seen Avatar?! Bro, you are missing a lot, you should see avatar, it is a cult cartoon, it is very good when you see it as a kid, but watching it as an adult is a masterpiece, more than one of us had tears in our eyes watching it because of how emotional it is at times. Pleeeaaaase go watch it, even if it's offline, you won't regret it. Love your reactions ❤❤
Key is making everything tell a coherent story. Even with a massive library of potential clips to choose from and a relaxed theme, that requires planning and thought to go into the editing process.
Damn, daaaaamn, that's old. Nostalgia pure^^ Thx for reacting to this, I rly would love to see ppl reacting to more AMVs and ASMVs, there are so many fantastic ones. Absolutely a class of their own, and I love seeing ppl reacting to them. If u want to react to more ASMVs then u can check out John the Hellhound or Steel Fenders. They're also super high quality productions. There are many different kinds of AMvs and ASMVs for anybody anything, action to comedy to drama to just being a nice beat^^ Rly, that brought back so many memories. In the past I was watching so many of these. I was a blast^^ .... Maybe I should check out what did change in the last 10 years^^
Well its very good editing where they match up all of the characters and tell a story about a talent show!! We see multiple people competing. Lelouch is anong them and fails. The ones that advance are the violin girl from your lie in april, naruto, luffy from one piece and kaito kid from magic kaito and Detective Conan. So they do a second show. Luffy makes a decent show but not that impressive. Naruto does the sexy Jutsu, so Sakura comes on stage and punches him. Kaito kid does a great show but ends it by teleporting on the roof and is disqualified Because of that. Violin girl does a great show and is about to winn, but lelouche who failed earlyer wanted to win so he goes on stage on uses the geas to make the judges pick him as the winner!! So thats the main story! And the editing is really cool, the song is nice and you can play spot the anime that you know!
Ya know, it should've occurred to us that Luke, being British, might not get the overall reference, so I'll explain it here. There's a show in America (It used to be quite popular) called "America's Got Talent", where Americans across the continent would enter and show off their cool talents. A lot of singing, a lot of acrobatics, and a ton of other crazy stuff was done. (You should go watch some videos of "Tape Face", his performances were always good.) This video was a reference to that show, as anime characters all came together to participate in "Anime's Got Talent". In conclusion, this was one big reference to a facet of American culture from a decade ago, and it doesn't surprise me that you don't recognize it, bc you probably didn't grow up watching it, voting for your favorite acts to make it to the next round, etc.
What you were watching is called an ''Anime Music Video'' or AMV for short. Basically what the name suggests it's a video of anime clips that are edited often to match the music or theme of the video. There are very good ones out there and this one is especially good edited!
You have to see "your lie in April" you are going to love it, it is a very beautiful love story, I was not expecting the ending to be honest and that is the best part
Ok so the "Puniru is a Kawaii Slime" ED is unnecessarily good. The OP is pretty good too, and both are sung by Puniru's VA. I think the anime is going under people's radar too since many might think it's a kids anime, which it is not.
yeah this is pretty old but still its sooo amazing what they did back then . so great and thanks you reminded me of it while watching your reaction :D i enjoyed it :)
Mentioning "Your Lie in April" made me remember "Kono Oto Tomare! Sounds of Life". I don't really ever hear people talk about it, but I thought it was a fantastic music/competition/kinda romcom anime.
Oh, that takes me back! I remember how impressed I was when I first saw this video 😆 For the recommendation, since you recently enjoyed some out of context videos, I think you should check out some Osomatsu-san out of context videos. It is a brilliant comedy, targeted a little more at adults, but I absolutely love the show 😊
Check out Anime Lyrics 101 next Luke! For context, they're anime openings with re-written lyrics, replacing the real lyrics with random funny combinations of words that sound alike.
This is an AMV- an Anime Music Video. Essentially, someone took clips from an anime (or multiple anime, in this case) and used them to create a fan music video. This is one of the more well-edited and well-known examples from back when it was first released, which basically makes up an 'Anime's Got Talent' competition with characters from a ton of different anime, in the same vein as 'Britain's Got Talent'. A few other examples along similar lines would be 'Anime 101' and 'An AMV About TV'.
Around 7:00 you ask what's Fullmetal Panic. It's a mecha anime consisting of like three seasons plus the comedic FMP Fumoffu spinoff (where the big puppet judge comes from I think) taking place after the first season. It's quite good iirc.
yup, that's literally what it was, a fun music video about anime characters in a talent show. if you want to see more amvs in this style, where a bunch of anime characters come together for (insert reason here), here's a few suggestions. Anime Masterchef (self explanatory, anime characters competing against each other in a cooking show) Anime Magic Hour (anime characters spend a day at an amusement park) Anime 101 (if there was a high school class on anime. the creator went hard on this one, even writing literal essays and notes in characters books that only appear for a few seconds)
I think the main appeal is simply the editing. Which this probably hits harder back in the day when edits like these were super rare and hard to do. Nowa days though im pretty sure the tech is so advanced and learning it is easier so even your average shitposter could make something like this given enough time. But even now the editing of these videos is to be admired.
It's surreal that this is like a time capsule of mid-2010s anime humor. Though to some people, it along with Anime404, misheard lyrics, etc, probably didn't age well. But still kinda feels nostalgic in a way.
AMV means Anime music video. AMV's were a big thing during the early and mid 2010'th with the AcrossCon and BigCon beeing two yearly competitions of AMV createtors all over the world. AMV's often tell a story of their own by cutting together a lot of different animes with background music on their own. There are some really awesome AMV's out there to watch.
It's so interesting that you watch this and then when it gets to your favourite anime you instinctively go "That's my boy/girl right there!". Yes, I'm saying this as if it's near universal. I refuse to believe otherwise.
Seeing you watch this made me feel nostalgic then it suddenly hit me that damn these animes in this MV is really really old and DAMn I'm old enough to feel nostalgia to these lmao.

Moriarty the Patriot, "Dying Wish" & "Twisted Hearts" by Tasuku Hatanaka- op1: ua-cam.com/video/4REhyrzmEkk/v-deo.html op2: ua-cam.com/video/oa6ZwOjb2Q4/v-deo.html 3. for a fun video I'll recommend: "Code Geass where pizza hut and cheese-kun are on screen" lots of the refences were edited out in the version you watched on Patreon I'll also again do a less silly Dub recommendation: "Naruto's Speech to Zabuza Sadness and Sorrow (Dub720p)" (from the first arc, lots of versions but this one is short enough for a single video reaction with great lines)
Im surprised you didnt get it, its literally britains got talent but for anime characters man xD back then this kind of editing was crazy good! Its a great showcase of editing prowess
For reactions I recommend Radiant OPs (maybe endings too). The thing about it that origin of this anime was born... in France in the way of manga-like comics series. I believe you would be able to notice the differences in some scenes between JP-born and FR-born "manga"/anime (anime was made in Japan)
You are bang on. It is Your Lie in April. You should see it for sure! Edit: Also there is Anime 101 and Anime 404, the Otaku Lyrics series and also the master cheff version of anime got talent for you too react. Probably more as well in the meme anime space
Full Metal Panic is an old anime. It's a war anime abut a teenager mercenary hired to guard a girl for reasons I will not include in this as to not spoil anything. It is pretty good, very good even. The thing is, many didn't give it a chance becausethere are mechas in the anime, but it is a good watch, with funny moment, emotional moment, absolutely gut wrenching moment, joyful moment and all that jazz. THere is also the spin-off, Full Metal Panic Fumofu which is pretty good, it is spend entirely in school and it is a full blown comedy.
From the looks of it, it is a mix up off tons of different anime and the characters are displaying their individual unique talents, just like one of the continents Who's Got Talent shows. The music put to it is not half bad either.
When I think of this video I also think of Otaku lyrics. I think there are 7 of them but they are pretty short. I would prefer they all get reacted to in either one or two videos.
In case you've never watched this, it's basically a parody of the show named "America's Got Talent" (actually, some countries have this show, so you can change America to the name of the country where the show takes place), basically it is a competition between several people with different types of talents, dance, music, magic, stand up, etc. In the end there is only one winner, and this video you watched is a parody of that in an anime version.
Since he saw this, he should definitely check out the other classics like "Otaku Lyrics". but don't tell him what the context is. There's 101 ,301, 401,501,601, 701 each one is around 3-6 mins or so. Sadly 201 got taken down long ago so can only see it from old reaction vids.
Basically just an AMV with multiple anime sources, and a really well done compositing. There are allot of well done AMVs out there, I prefer single anime source ones myself, and the better ones have lip syncing done well.
I love that two of the juges are Koko (the main girl in Golden Time) and Shiroe (the MC from Log Horizon). I don't know who is the third juge and from what anime he is.
Oh Luke now looking AMV's. If you like that concept then i can really recommence you "Act of Genesis". Its quite old but was the winner of an AMV convention that was hold yearly back in the day.
Luke, please react to the Hunter x Hunter 1999 openings. You have never done a reaction to them, so it would be pretty cool to see the difference. Btw the op's for the 1999 version are all different.
to put it simple its a mashup parody of americas got talent, where a bunch of people across the US go to show their talents of to win prices (in this case anime characters from different shows), and as you see our boy lelouch wasn't gonna take the L and used geass on the judges, the secret ending shows that he will be the 4th judge but this never got a sequel sadly. This is a very very old video and extremely high quality for the time and even now tbh. Also zoro (the green hair dude at the end of the secret ending) is from one piece and a joke referencing that he always gets lost and arrives late to things so he only gets to the show when its already over.

Anime Masterchef (self explanatory, anime characters competing against each other in a cooking show)
Anime Magic Hour (anime characters spend a day at an amusement park)
Anime 101 (if there was a high school class on anime. the creator went hard on this one, even writing literal essays and notes in characters books that only appear for a few seconds)
6:09 The instant dose of nostalgia punched me right in the face with this song. I used to have it as my ringtone at some point.
It's surreal that this is like a time capsule of mid-2010s anime humor. Though to some people, it along with Anime404, misheard lyrics, etc, probably didn't age well. But still kinda feels nostalgic in a way.
Oh, this is so NOSTALGIC!!! I forgot about those gold amvs!!!!
That was certainly a nostalgic trip back
AMV means Anime music video.
Welcome to the peak of Anime Music Videos
It's so interesting that you watch this and then when it gets to your favourite anime you instinctively go "That's my boy/girl right there!".
Yes, I'm saying this as if it's near universal. I refuse to believe otherwise.
it feels like our boy has never watched "Britain's got talent" before
avatar the last airbender is technically considered more of a cartoon than an anime i think, but it's one of the best, you should watch it!
that amv was seriously amazing
Seeing you watch this made me feel nostalgic then it suddenly hit me that damn these animes in this MV is really really old and DAMn I'm old enough to feel nostalgia to these lmao.
Otaku lyrics 101 next
Wow. This video brings so much nostalgic feelings when i was searching animes from AMVs.
oh god, this unlocked a core memory
I have to compliment on the original video. The edits are really good

ohhh man the nostalgia... i had forgot this video was even a thing
for a fun video I'll recommend: "Code Geass where pizza hut and cheese-kun are on screen"
lots of the refences were edited out in the version you watched on Patreon
I'll also again do a less silly Dub recommendation:
"Naruto's Speech to Zabuza Sadness and Sorrow (Dub720p)" (from the first arc, lots of versions but this one is short enough for a single video reaction with great lines)
Man, the anime community doesn't really do things like this anymore, and it's sad. I loved these typed of videos.
Nostalgia bomb. I used to make AMVs back in the late 2000s.
Its a AMV Animated Music Video. They were very common in the early days of the Internet you set music to anime and edit it together.
And here we have another episode of "WTF am I watching?"
Yes the violinist is from You Lie of April.
People live this video because it's random, bizarre, and good vibes
Welp, time to get Luke to watch "Your lie in April" so he can understand why Kaori deserved the win
From the looks of it, it is a mix up off tons of different anime and the characters are displaying their individual unique talents, just like one of the continents Who's Got Talent shows. The music put to it is not half bad either.
Last Zoro's scene was best moment.
You should the Anime World Cup video as well
Its ovbiously a Talent show, what is there not to get? Doesn't matter how many times I've seen it, it never gets boring.
Yes😂 got to do otaku lyrics as well
When I think of this video I also think of Otaku lyrics.
Oh my Lord the nostalgia!!
I forgot how good this video was man 😂
If you liked this one you should realy check Anime Masterchef, another high quality AMV of many characters but cooking
The 3rd should be Moffle from Amagi Brilliant Park.
Good catch, the girl is indeed from Your Lie in April!
I have no idea what this is either, but I gotta respect the efforts that went into making this. Must've been a pain to do 😂
the anime version of America got talent but anime characters are the judge, audience, and participants.
man I remember watching this when I'm still in highschool, and that's like 10 years ago and I think they making 1 more video about anime cooking show
What's Full Metal Panic...
Yeah, you're still new^^
Oh Luke now looking AMV's.
If you like that concept then i can really recommence you "Act of Genesis". Its quite old but was the winner of an AMV convention that was hold yearly back in the day.
5:48 "Your Lie in April" moments((
Full Metal Panic would be an amazing one to see a reaction to~!
Luke, please react to the Hunter x Hunter 1999 openings. You have never done a reaction to them, so it would be pretty cool to see the difference. Btw the op's for the 1999 version are all different.
I remember seeing this yearsss ago! I think there's a football/soccer version as well
to put it simple its a mashup parody of americas got talent, where a bunch of people across the US go to show their talents of to win prices (in this case anime characters from different shows), and as you see our boy lelouch wasn't gonna take the L and used geass on the judges, the secret ending shows that he will be the 4th judge but this never got a sequel sadly. This is a very very old video and extremely high quality for the time and even now tbh. Also zoro (the green hair dude at the end of the secret ending) is from one piece and a joke referencing that he always gets lost and arrives late to things so he only gets to the show when its already over.
Based on this reaction. I rated your anime knowledge 1 out of 10.
makes me miss the golden age of AMV's.
Man... this really took me back... Now I gotta find another AMV that mashed Cowboy Bebop and Trigun together. Tainted Donuts, I believe it was...
