I'm traveling solo on Virgin Voyages next month and I was glad to find your video. I'm surprised that while they provide solo cabins, they don't provide a concierge to organize events for solo cruisers. Royal Caribbean is a great cruise line and I've cruised with them quite a bit. They also do not cater to the solo cruiser. I love their ships, food in the specialty restaurants and the entertainment, but when I cruise solo on RC, I know I'm alone. One cruise line that really does solo cruising right is Norwegian. Not only do they offer solo cabins and a whole area for solo cruisers complete with a lounge, but they also have a dedicated concierge who gets events together for solos for dinner, parties, entertainment, etc. It's a great way to meet new people and have fun. I'm going to look into cruising with them again soon.
Thanks for sharing your experiences, Rebecca. Since this I've cruised solo with MSC, and on Royal Caribbean with my partner (so can't really judge the solo experience). MSC were great - they seated solo cruises with other solo cruisers for dinner and I got to know some lovely people that way, as well as meeting other couples and families when they were open to sharing their tables at lunch. There were regular solo meets but I confess I didn't go to those as I didn't need to - I was having so much fun both on my own and with other cruisers. Facebook (and WhatsApp) groups help a lot - I found some great connections this way. Hope you have a fab time on Virgin - they're still my favourite for food for sure, and I love their spa too!
You’ll have an amazing time! I’m just back from a week long solo cruise in Norway and had an incredible time. Met some lovely people and enjoyed time to myself too 😊
I liked your perspective. I’m travelling solo on my second sea cruise in January but I’ve booked a solo cabin on Resilient Lady for Christmas ‘23. I didn’t realise that the dates were inclusive of Xmas when I booked (I was solely looking for start and end dates during my known time off from work oooops) so it’ll be an interesting cruise. I picked Virgin because they have solo fares but I couldn’t justify the cost of a balcony. It’ll be my first trip without one as I generally like a place to bolt to if things get too much with my ASD. But I’ll have a porthole so maybe it’ll be ok. I’ll still be able to see out if I need time away from the rest of the sailors.
I was happy with my inside cabin as I spent most of my time on deck. There are loads of different types of spaces so you can be quiet or social and find appropriate places for whatever feels right 😊 Have a fabulous cruise!
Oh absolutely! It helped that before I got there I’d joined a Facebook group and connected with someone else who was a solo traveller and we we met before we even embarked the ship. But I did feel very safe even when I was on my own. Are you cruising with a company that does solo meets?
Great review. One point on the WiFi. Virgin only uses one satellite and it's over the Caribbean. So if you are on the Scarlet that is close to the satellite. It's great WiFi. But for the Valiant it's not so great right now.
Miss Walley, how brave you were to sail on Virgin for your 1st-time cruise! I thought any Virgin’s ships weren’t exactly for cruise virgins due to controversial issues by sailors. I also cruised on Valiant Lady last month for my 20th to the same old Zeebrugge. I brought my own party animals, 1 of which was Lucy, a stuffed Chow as pictured on my profile. We had an unforgettable hen party. June of London

Thank for for the honest review. I booked solo for the scarlet lady in January. I’m kinda nervous about going solo.

@@lifewithjodotco thank you. I’m sure I shall 💕
Thanks Jo that was a brilliant insight from a solo traveller. Good to know there is enough food for GF intolerances.
Thanks - it was surprisingly good for gluten free 😊
Just booked my first solo cruise. Im a little nervous, did you feel safe?

@@ameillam7841 I’m sure there will be a group for your cruise - it’s a great way to meet people and find out more before you go 😊 Enjoy!!!
Mine is 50 days away from today and I can't wait. The food sounds divine.
@@pamostman516 im on it now and it is exquisite. You will love it

I see! You’d think Virgin would have the tech stuff sorted.

Not sure what the controversial issues might be but I had a fab time!
