“I bowed to someone once” FORESHADOWINGGG OMLLLLL
OH MY GOSH
So was Anya recalling her distant relative had a yellow cat which is an obscure fact the guys would not have known & their shocked faces at her sudden memory of that in the animated version of that moment were so cute 😉
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AAHHHH
*-Jaws drop across the world-* 👁👄👁
is nobody going to mention how vlad hits dimitri with the book and then anya IMMEDIATELY hits him again
And then he gets hit by the chalkboard LMAO
Bonus Smack : 4:20
He’s just getting abused this entire song
I need that part
As a kid in the animated movie I’d didn’t understand why Dimitri had a crooked nose but now i remember that he got hit in the face with the butt of a gun
Oop-
I thought it was a russian thing omg
Don Bluth also said in a clip about how to draw Dimitri that they didn't want him to be tooo handsome so they put the bump in his nose 😂idk if it worked as I had a big crush as kid
Damara Carpenter ME TOO HES SO HANDSOME
Dang!
1) This poor guy got so beat up when Anastasia was concerned!
2) If it wasn’t a rated G film there’d be blood on his face.
the three of them have such great stage chemistry together
And if you watch the backstage vlogs, their friendship is absolutely adorable! And Derek and Christy had done shows together before this, so it makes sense that they made such a great Dmitri and Anya!
Dimitri and Anya is like such a cute ship
YES
What's the song that they dance together in boat btw?
Zabina Cinta I think it's "At the Beginning"?
what kind of boat would they look like tho
@@nepoleonbonderpand6255 A sinking boat
I wish they had made an entire DVD of the broadway show to purchase. I went to the show in my own country, but i would love to be able to watch the original Broadway version.
emmy04031991 you are so lucky the play is in your country I went to see Wicked and The Lion King while traveling in another continent, both amazing plays and very nice theaters.
emmy04031991 I have a bootleg if you want it
Hey It’s Sarah I’m interested I would love to see the entire show !
Hey It’s Sarah i am interested too if you would share :) is it with derek and christy?
darline mxl yes :) it’s the same exact cast except Ramin Karmiloo is Gleb
Am I floating?
Like a sinking boat.
I love Dimitri
Every change they made to the movie is so good. It's like the horse's name was always Romeo and they were just waiting to tell us.
Ditching Rasputin was the best decision that led to every other great decision in this play. The songwriters who worked on the movie and then made this HATED Rasputin and the whole idea of putting supernatural elements in a story that didn't need it. They didn't even write In The Dark Of The Night, instead handing that assignment to one of the Bat Out Of Hell guys.
You can FEEL the millstone being lifted from this story as they allow themselves to tell this story as it needs to be told
@@johndavidtibbetts7320 They even made the anachronisms work (everyone being reluctant to stop calling it St. Petersburg because they only changed the name three years ago and it doesn't feel any different.)
@Bill Volk yes! I caught the change and I really appreciated it :3
It wasn't until after seeing the show that I truly appreciated it because I have anxiety when it comes to change. I'm grateful someone filmed this for that reason.
I can't imagine how hard the actors had to work to make this as spectacular as it is.
i’ve always loved anya & dimitri...in the animated flick and in this musical too ☺️
Same
My sister took me for my birthday yesterday. And it was really fun and I liked it, but our Dimitri and anya had like no chemistry at all. You didn't think they're was a live story going on until like a bunch through the second act. It could be a number of things, an off day, tired, I think they were almost at the end of their stay, 🤷♀️ just a bummer. I honestly in ours thought she had more chemistry with gleb. So I wasn't too see it again for contrast!
the chaos in this song is amazingly awesome
the way the performers make it look so natural is really impressive too! a hectic scene like this isn't an easy thing to pull off but they did so wonderfully
That Dimitri is so prefect
Derek Klena is just a God and legend
@@EmareeVA and sadly married
@@nerdgeekcosplay909 LOL
DEREK KLENAAA 😍😍
@@nerdgeekcosplay909 and he has a son!!
I admire them taking this song and really turning it into a "Rain In Spain" moment
Who needs disney remakes? Not me! I need a movie from this with the original cast. ❤
Ps: They were the perfect choices for the roles.
Or an official recording of the show! I personally find that theatre shows have a certain je ne sais quoi that movies miss.
@@rebeccaservais8115 Thank you very much for correcting me! Neither English or French are my native language. I heard this expression used by a person while talking in English and recalled it like this. Sorry!
@@rebeccaservais8115 Wait, I just checked on internet and it says "je-ne-sais quoi" on all the websites I found. I'm kinda confused
@@rebeccaservais8115 I didn't use google translate. I know that it is not good. I checked multiple websites, among wich there are Cambridge Dictionary, the website of a very good italian publishing house and French websites. They either just explained what "je ne sais quoi" means or also said that both this version and the one with "pas" are correct, because "pas" is necessary with most verbs, but not with savoir and three others.
@@rebeccaservais8115 it’s a colloquial phrase, it’s Je ne sais quois xx
3:18 i'm loving how even her "uhhhh" has beautiful vibrato
all three of them are fantastic but my eyes are particularly drawn to the actor playing vlad-- he has great energy, and he ain't bad to look at either, haha. seriously though, they're all very talented and have wonderful chemistry onstage!
i wish this musical had gotten off the ground a bit more, it's a shame things didn't really work out. :( in a perfect world we'd have multiple stage musicals based after don bluth movies...god that'd be so cool
Vlad at 5:25 is literally me with any of my ships 😂
I'm a bad person, but I liked how Dimitri was hit by here too because of his sloppiness.
That little triangle *ding* every time she raises her pinky when holding a teacup...
muwaaah! *chef's kiss*
is no one going to talk about how when dimitri and anya stop dancing he looks directly into anya's eyes and just freezes and it's almost like he fell in love with her in that moment
The dance part is so cute 😍
😆
I like how the musical brings more about Russian music and dance
The prom dance Sue Snell and Tommy Ross never got
Tia16 yesssssss
this completed me
He also finally saw her in her blue dress. and I'm totally still crying over that

It’s okay, I didn’t need to be emotionally stable today😭🤚
Dmitri is cute lol...

"I bowed to someone once..."
"And then he bowed..."
that's gotta be the best ending of a musical theatre song ever. i love the way the did that
I don't remember when I was doing theater as it was; but to see them sing and move like that (especially dance those dances) I sweat just to see the video xD
Yet they don't seem sweaty even a little. xD
Now I see why the theatres are air conditioned to the point of audience members complaining, the actors are probably suffering with the choreography
@@KeepCalmContemplateYourChoices yep, those lights are quite brutal.
2:21 Christy Altomare is so cute my heart melted
I listened to this musical for the first time today and I fell in love with it.
This was my absolute favorite movie growing up. I still watch it. My sisters and I used to watch it all the time. My nephew and his chorus are singing Once Upon A December for a concert and I am excited! This is one of my favorite songs from the movie.
I want this to come to the UK (hopefully without all the cuts that were apparently done for the tour)
what cuts were made? :O
Heeii Du the part where anya gets angry
apparently they cut Crossing a Bridge as well :(
@@paisley4197 WHAT I LOVED THAT PART
@@oswinaltava I mean, it doesn't really move the story along, but it goes into some Anya character development. It's like when they cut True Love from Frozen, it felt like a part of Anna/Anya's character was missing
I saw the original Broadway version and it was lovely. I wish they would release it when the runs finish. The replacement actors do amazing but when you've gotten used to a certain voice it just hits different. #nostalgia
He's so tall and she's so short!😭😍😍
I miss this show so much
This entire clip takes me back. I was the lead spot in my high school's production of "The Pajama Game." I followed Kate (Rochelle Coyle) First show I'd ever crewed for, and I got the lead. To this day, I don't know how.
When Anya moves the gloves, man that must have been debated forever. Mr. Boyle, the director and stagecraft teacher at Sumner High School, debated with Rochelle and Ian Beck and Ian
Russell on where to put the jacket in one scene. I had to turn off the spot, it took so long. 😂
I have no idea what you're saying. Could you explain please?
That's crazy, we have a teacher named Dr. Boyle
@@clarizamae09 Sure, I was a follow spot, meaning I was the one who operated the spotlight on the performer on stage. One of the characters had to take of a jacket and put it on a chair. I kept the spot on the lead most of this debate. I ended up turning it off until we got back gong. It was in the middle of tech rehearsal.
I love watching this! It just looks so fun, especially when they dance
3:40 is just ✨abusing Derek✨
with a book
My goodness Christy you stole my heart
Popov is such a likeable character
He admitted that he bowed to Anya once, and I now realize. I WANT THE LOVE LIFE THAT DMITRY AND ANYA HAVE!!!!💖💓
When I saw it, the chair fell back when they lifted her onto it
Обажаю Владимира 💗 что в мультфильме, что в этом мюзикле!👏 Вот ты этот мюзикл приехал бы в Москву. Уж я бы посмотрела 👍
god i love this show so much
I’m still obsessed with John Bolton. Saw him this summer in the wicked tour twice!! he’s incredible with comedic roles
omg this was my favorite movie when i was little i had no idea there was a musical for it
I just gotta use this for a presentation at school I’m not a theater kid
What’s the presentation for?
💀💀

You were born in a palace by the sea
A palace by the sea?
Could it be?
Yes, that's right
You rode horseback when you were only three
Horseback riding? Me?
And the horse?
He was white!
You made faces and terrorized the cook!
Threw him in the brook!
Was I wild?
Wrote the book!
But you'd behave when your father gave that look!
Imagine how it was!
Your long-forgotten past!
We've lots and lots to teach you and the time is going fast!
All right... I'm ready!
Now, shoulders back and stand up tall
And do not walk, but try to float
I feel a little foolish
Am I floating?
Like a little boat!
You give a bow
What happens now?
Your hand receives a kiss!
Most of all remember this
If I can learn to do it, you can learn to do it
Something in you knows it
There's nothing to it!
Follow in my footsteps, shoe by shoe!
You can learn to do it too!
Now, elbows in and sit up straight
And never slurp the stroganoff
I never cared for stroganoff!
She said that like a Romanov!
The Samovar
The caviar
Dessert and then goodnight?
Not until you get this right!
If I can learn to do it
If he can learn to do it
You can learn to do it!
You can learn to do it
Pull yourself together
And you'll pull through it!
Tell yourself it's easy
And it's true!
You can learn to do it too!
Next, you must memorize the names of the royalty
Now here we have Kropotkin
Shot Potemkin
In the Botkin
Oh!
And dear old uncle Vanya loved his vodka
Got it Anya?
No!
The Baron Pushkin
He was...?
Short!
Count Anatoly
Had a...?
Wart!
Count Sergei
Wore a feathered hat
I hear he's gotten very fat
And I recall his yellow cat!
I don't believe we told her that
If you can learn to do it
I can learn to do it!
Don't know how you knew it
I simply knew it!
Suddenly I feel like someone new
Anya, you're a dream come true!
If I can learn to do it
If I can learn to do it
You can learn to do it!
You can learn to do it
Pull yourself together
And you'll pull through it!
Tell yourself it's easy
And it's true
You can learn to do it
Nothing to it!
You can learn to do it too!
Crying everynight with this video
I'm gonna watch anastasia just for these three-
This is the only thing I've seen of the musical. I've only one complaint, which would be that I don't like how they make her seem weak or just extremely frustrated, otherwise they did really good. I like almost everything else.
I think they changed it for the musical to emphasize how much time has passed. Its a looong trip to Paris and poor Anya is being bombarded with so much new information, so it makes sense that she'd sometimes be enthusiastic and excited, and other times be frustrated and burned out.
@@handsdowntoo7150 That does make sense. Seeing her like this makes her seem more human in a way, I guess?
@@Jay-fv3ij It also seems like when the show was on tour, they cut out the "tantrum" bit, going straight from Anya and Dmitry's argument over her past straight to the family tree segment.
I went to go see the tour but they took this part out 3:26 - 4:17
thats really stinks. its my favorite part of act one. i saw it on bway last September and it was amazing. christy shows so much emotion in that scene.
I just now realized that! We saw in NYC and it was amazing. I knew the tour cut out so much, it was a bit drab :/
Im pretty sure they cut out crossing a bridge... cuz they didnt sing that in the tour in toronto...
That also got cut out of the German and Dutch version of Anastasia😭😭😭
@@missmona5475 i saw it like a week ago and it was gone
I particularly love the part when gets hit with chalk board
Derek Klena 😍😍😍
The BEST cast, neither the tour version, Spain or mexico could match this one
OMG- SO like so similar with Dmitri from 1997😎
5:44 Vlad said "cockblock"
i got exhausted just watching this
Also does anyone know were I can get the soundtrack? It’s not on Apple Music.
Lilli's Realm it’s on Spotify
I found it in the iTunes store but not apple music.
It’s on there now!!
This was filmed very well. Was this done by the crew or.................?
Can someone please tell me the names of this cast? Please.
christy altomare, derek klena and john bolton
Ok but vlad is so cute tho
I need to watch the live action.
If only Warner Bros. Should make the remake #sonybuyswarnerbros #mickeymouseanastasia
I can't to.see it so bad
An idea of #WarnerBros gonna make a Live Action version of Anastasia
Vlad & Dmitry are such dorks lmao
Once they make that musical with the songs French, I’ll be the first one there! This music is my childhood, but it’s not as magical in another language…
From the arma song
Derek Kelna as Dimitri 😍😍
As in the full video.
Ahhhh short people represent !
4:19 is this apart of it or did he really just get hit by the board thing
0:30 sus
“Learn to do it”. AKA: The song were Dimitri gets beaten up constantly 😂
3:39. 3:44. 4:19. 5:17
Is it bad I can sing the vast majority of this song? No, no it is not because this song deserves that.
The song deserves to be memorized by you?
That voice...Is that Ryan McCartan?
blippi
Oh fuck, I learned to do it
This recording is better than the movie.
This missed the chemistry from the movie for this number. I blame production because the cast is pretty good.
“Like a sinking boat”-
I just wish Ana was as fiery as the movie and less meek Vlad is fantastic tho
5:28 can someone please do this part with me?
Best song about scamming an old woman ever.
People didn't like this show???
Your guys saying christy is short but she is taller than me she’s 5’4 and I’m 5’2 WTF
Sameeee, I’m laughing to not cry lol
The role for Anya calls for someone who’s small. I’m 5’2.5 feet tall we both have a chance
Don't let it bug you friend. I am 5'3.5 and most of my friends are 6'4... I understand the struggle
I mean how do they not use Kelsey Grammar as Vlad?!?!?
Me and my boyfriend never been in bordway before
side note, is this actually the medically correct way to treat and help someone with amnesia??
I'm just curious because when it makes Dmitri and Vlad secret, moronic, geniuses.
Anya is not blondie 😥😥
Ana Villagrán her hair color shouldn’t matter, as long as the actor carries her character well
The real Anastasia had strawberry blonde hair.
the real anastasia had strawberry blonde hair soo
Ana Villagrán she is strawberry blonde in the musical, probably because that is the real Anastasia’s hair color
Time to dye my hair
