Regarding the very obviously not missing finger, I fell for it, even though I saw the whole finger. My way too trusting self just assumed you started the project before you lost your finger, and had to take a break to heal. Last time I trust you, sir!
Nah, 24 minutes is perfect for me, I enjoy this longer format, great background when washing dishes and doing the occasional housework (when absolutely necessary). The video format is entirely up to you, obviously, but I'd vote to keep these videos around this length. And also, magnificent work, love this wand and can't wait for more!
Aye man, I really love your video style and really love the new additions to your shop. I’ve been watching your videos for a bit and it’s cool to see what different disciplines you utilize and how you dedicate space to them. Keep up the great work.🤙🏾
@@garricksapprentice Well, I just looked up the price of a Wadkin lathe and my blood pressure went up so that’s fun. I just moved into my new shop with 3x what is in before and hope to show that off soon. I look forward to what’s next for you man.
This turned out so well, the natural wood grain is beautiful :) Jim Barr made some really unique handles when designing wands for the series and this is a great example of that. He also made Voldemort and Viktor Krum's wands. All 3 wands lead to their respective actors developing unique grips on their wand, Viktor holds his like a pistol, Tonks said that she didn't really find a suitable grip until Bill and Fleur's wedding scene and Voldemort has his iconic open hand grip (although they had to use fishing wire to secure it to his hand as he dropped it frequently when filming). Even Peter Pettigrew briefly got to use Voldemort's wand during the leadup to Voldemort's revival in Goblet of Fire and he also developed a unique grip with it.
an amazing job once again, you have made it so beautiful and awesome, the way with the handle it screams how flexible craving can be, this is probably my favorite wand you've made this year, and I hope too see others I the future 👍👍👍👍
It’s not often I’d say this but longer is definitely better when it comes to your videos. I could legit watch and listen to you all day! (you have a seriously nice voice and maybe i have a crush)
so cool! i love harry potter and seeing the process of these wands actually being made with the real woods is so interesting, i love your style of videos too, they are so funny and engaging and really keep me watching and wanting to see more!
My good man! I just wanted to remind you in case you forgot what an inspiration you are to the whole wand making community! You’re video quality and content are just superb!
Found you about 4 days ago and have watched most of your stuff since, I was guttered when you hadn’t uploaded in months. You’re super talented mate, your editing is perfect too. Kinda get a ‘I did a thing’ vibe from you
Absolutely gorgeous work as always. I'd like to see the House mascot and horcrux wands being made at some point too, if that's at all possible. Another suggestion is to try making house hybrids. I'm a 50/50 ravenclaw & gryffìndor hat-stall (basically like Hermione), so maybe that could inspire future episodes once you've you've run the gambit of character wands? With each pairing giving you at least 16 variations, it could make for a fun challenge in future
11:30 Fun Fact: The last person to use Salazar Slytherin's snakewood wand was Isolt Sayre, the founder of the American wizard school, Ilvermorny. It ended up going dormant and was buried. Afterwards, an indestructible Snakewood tree grew in that spot.
Part of me wanted the wand to have that striped pattern like the prop one. Nice job nonetheless. I'm curious, what would be an interesting way to achieve that striped pattern?
Also in regards to the video length, personally I enjoy these longer videos with extra facts about the wood/technique. But I know viewer retention's a nightmare for content creators, especially after the rise of shortform videos. :P
Yeah it's all a trade off so we'll see how this performs! I do need to crack out some shorter videos though just to help me progress a bit quicker with some of the less popular character wands!
amazing job, you really went simple woodturning to flat out sculpting for this one, btw i was wondering when you will open commisions for custom wands 🙏
I think if it had been almost any other wood I would have tried turning the shaft on three centres then sanding the transitions ...nothing wrong with a bit of dodgy bandsawing...it makes life interesting and keeps you on your toes...or should that be keeps your fingers on. ..hmm there is a very cobra like appearance to that flower hood beautiful wand and a great way to thank patreons ...completely original as far as I am aware thanks for sharing
Awesome work! Your videos always get me thinking about how the production designers made the wands in the first place (I read they first designed in wood to then make plastic replicas for the film). I have the Japanese version of the wand, and it's a bit different from the Noble Collection version sold elsewhere, albeit more accurate to the movie version (you can see the differences in the promo images of Tonks - the movie version does not have the woodgrain marks around the wand, the shaft isn't bent and its shape is more of a diamond rather than a triangle). I wonder why did they decide to sell a version that differs from the movie.
Tonk's Wand was a surprise. I thought Slughorn's wand would be next because of your Moody video explaining you were waiting for stuff from America and said you got something planned for Slughorn
Watch movieflame videos if you're curious about the characters lives. He's made so many, and there's still many more characters he'll probably make in the future. I think he did one on Tonks, and I'm pretty sure he did one on the Black sisters, whom are: Bellatrix, Narcissa, and Andromeda. Narcissa gave birth to Draco, and Andromeda gave birth to Tonks. This makes her and Draco first cousins. One of their parents' siblings had Sirius and Regulus through.. incest. This makes them second cousins, I think. I'm not good at family trees.
man i've stumbled across one of the best wand makers on UA-cam! LOVE your videos. Please Keep them coming! also, do you have a site for purchse? do you make custom wands at all?
I could be wrong but I thought no one used snake wood in wands since the one Isolt buried at Illvermorny that had belong to Slytherin. I thought that was why the Kowalski one was fake. I thought I read that in the back writings on Wizarding World. Again I could be wrong. Beautiful as usual.
Ok ok, so. Slytherins wand, snakewood. In ilvermorny, a tree grew from it. Yeah? Dumbledoor gives kowalski a snakewood "wand"....that wand may be from tbe ilvermorny tree.
Beautiful work, however, I do definitely think snakewood would have been a better choice with the more defined stripes. Lacewood is absolutely beautiful though

@@garricksapprentice But the shape is of a Flava picture plant is exactly like the wand shape! I keep them so I know them very well. The jack in a pulpit flower hood to the rest of the flower doesn't get thinner like the wand does.
I must not have been paying as much attention last video; I didn't think you lost an entire finger, just a finger nubbin. Like the fingernail and first joint but that's it. So I spent the remainder of the Fred and George video trying to see the missing nubbin and I couldn't tell one way or another.
Are you sure the wand was meant to be bent? It looked like a production mistake, not an intended part of the design... Regardless, really enjoy your work and the efforts you go into authenticity. I look forward to watching your next video!

That came out insanely good. I've never actually gotten a good look at a lot of the wands so this has been fun
Wow never knew that Tonks had a wand design. It's also one of the prettiest in my opinion. Very well done :)

Making these wands looks incredibly difficult, and I'm always amazed by the end results. :)
You're finally back... the world is healing.
Tonks was always my favourite character outside the golden trio and I still remember how her fate made me saddest, more than one of the Weasley twins.
Fascinating! I knew there were different types of trees, but I never knew there were different types of wood.
What an honour to be this early for one of these videos! Keep up the talented work, love watching these.

my favorite wandmaker is back !
I love the lines on the petal! Looks better than the original.
The gluing section from that last video is what tipped me off that the missing finger was a joke. I was so confused for a bit
The end of the wand looks like a cobra head😄

Faultless, funny and the perfect length
I was 99% sure you hadn't lost a finger but I'm glad to know for sure lol

Amazing as always mate 👏👏👏 Out of all the wands you've still got left to make, which one do you think will be the most challenging or difficult?
honestly I haven't really looked at a lot of them properly, but the tiny silver its on Slughorn/Narcissa will need some work!
