Their wands, when combined tip-to-tip, create a Quidditch broom. George's wand handle is the broom handle, while Fred's wand handle is the bristles of the broom.
@@garricksapprentice It looks like a normal broom, but the wizarding world's brooms often have a little flair at the end of the shaft that is normally bare in a normal broom, so putting the two together would ressemble the HP specific brooms. Still a bit far fetched, almost anything you combine with Geroger's will have the same effect, but there you go.
I think you eventually also need to make your "own" wand. A fully custom design by you, using all the skills you've picked up from making all the other wands.
This has been a VERY intense 2 and a bit weeks or making and editing but I think I've improved my production a lot over this summer - I originally wanted to make it for April 1st but that was too ambitious and then it took an age to source some suitable dogwood from U.S.A! On the plus side I didn't get ANY copyright flags so didn't have to re-edit, re-export and re-upload anything! I'm hoping to make a couple more shorter videos but need to re-stock my shop first as I'm late and it's almost the Big C! I think I need a 200k views just to pay off the materials and replicas! lol I'm not going to financially recover from this video.....but hey Warner Brothers consider this a job application 🤝🪄

It’s really therapeutic to watch you work the wood and explaining what you’re doing. The improvement in your production skills is quite noticable in this video, too! 3 phase really is a lifesaver for anywhere that runs high-horsepower motors. Your patience in creating these wands is extraordinary, and you do a great job.

It's funny that you made the missing finger joke on this video, the prop maker (Terry Whitehouse) got a few nasty cuts when making the master copy of Fred's wand, apparently when carving out the 'pine cone' part of the handle. It also took him the longest by far to make. After that he swore to make less complicated designs. :P

@@garricksapprentice So the 'both wands combine to make a broom thing' is just a fun coincidence/popular fan theory. In reality the wands were made by two different prop makers a few years apart (John Weller made George's, which was first used in Prisoner of Azkaban when they give Harry the Marauder's Map and Terry Whitehouse made Fred's which I believe didn't appear until the room of requirement scenes in OOTP(?). All of the Weasley family members' wands have very rustic, natural looks aside from Ginny who presumably got a brand new, more expensive wand as the youngest sibling. :)

Molly and Arthur's give me homely vibes, they remind me of old fashion mallet/rolling pin/screw driver handles. Ron's (from HP3 onward) and Bill's look very similar to each other and Percy's looks a bit more ornate, like an old carved chair leg.
Phenomenal work as always, Fred's wand looks like an absolute nightmare to carve. The darker staining looks a lot closer to the real prop too, the replicas are far too reddish. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the wands. :)
As a machinist, I've met quite a few guys with missing digits. I've had couple close calls myself. My old boss called those "the Hard Lessons, where you need a clean pair of shorts. You don't forget them." The chuck key joke did make me chuckle (ba dum tsss).

Arthur's and Fred's wands are my favourite so far on your channel. It's because you're not trying to make them from "the correct wood" but you make them from the correct wood, if you get what I mean. I mean you take the wood that already has the correct colour and texture to it so you don't have to paint them or make any other manipulations. You just polish it and get the perfect finish and it ends up very very beautifuly. That's exactly how the original prop wands were made for the movies

Of note: When working with Leather, the best approach to bends is to thoroughly wetting the leather, Molding it (Around a tapered mandrel for example) And letting it dry. From then on, the leather will hold the shape perfectly

I have the display with Fred and George's wands. They are my favorite characters in the entire series!! I was even able to meet James and Oliver at a comic con a few years ago. I think the most interesting tidbit about the actors/characters is that the actors didn't initially know which twin they were going to play. While Fred/James is the older twin of the 2 characters, Oliver/George is the older of the actors.
I feel your pain. Had table saw accident last year. Still have my fingers. But the saw blade tore through the flesh of four fingers on my left hand, thumb included in a degloving injury. I could see the sharp pointy end of my finger bone...and believe me, the colour of living bones isn't white. The blade missed the bones and tendons but the surgeon had to carefully picked out wood splinters, snip of shredded flesh and somehow sew it back together over exposed bones. Had to go through months of physiotherapy because the injured hand is also my writing hand. Now I'm scared to go near any cutting machine...I rather use handsaw. Luckily still could write almost as good as before but the numb flesh in my fingers is a constant reminder.

I feel your pain. Had table saw accident last year. Still have my fingers. But the saw blade tore through the flesh of four fingers on my left hand, thumb included in a degloving injury. I could see the sharp pointy end of my finger bone...and believe me, the colour of living bones isn't white.
The blade missed the bones and tendons but the surgeon had to carefully picked out wood splinters, snip of shredded flesh and somehow sew it back together over exposed bones.
Had to go through months of physiotherapy because the injured hand is also my writing hand. Now I'm scared to go near any cutting machine...I rather use handsaw. Luckily still could write almost as good as before but the numb flesh in my fingers is a constant reminder.
Ooof that sounds horrendous, I'm also nervous after any close call but glad you can write again
