What a roomy tank it was. I grew up in one of these. My entire family, all seven of us crammed into one of these beasts and drove from Ottawa, Ontario to Camrose, Alberta in July of 1976. I'll never forget that trip as long as I live. These cars just floated down the highway and were so comfortable to be in.
Exactly like my first car, paid 400 bucks for it in August of 85; always regretted selling her. I wonder if this is her? Such a smooth ride with plenty of horses under the hood when you needed it to get up and go.......sigh.
My first was one just like this but candy apple red w/black top and interior. Paid $750 in ‘86 for her. I’m feel the same as you, WISH I still had that car. What I wouldn’t give to have one again! Loved it!
Looks like a 383 big block. I am not sure if it was the same engine used in the road runners. Those had the 4 barrel intake and a mild street cam. The one I see here is more likely the 383 2 barrel but I could be wrong as the performance engine may have been an option.
Yes, it's a 383 bb 2 barrelsetup, the economy variant. As an option one could have the 4bbl setup with over 300 hp. This car has the standard 275 hp, but with added dual exhaust.

My first car was a ‘71 Newport, candy apple red, black top and black interior. Oh how I wish I still had that beast! ❤

Nice ride. My dad owned a green Newport Custom when I was a kid in the '70s. Brings back memories.
