Oh No...The Baler...Its Broken!

This day got expensive in a hurry...Our Vermeer 605 Super M round baler is now down for the count. One of the tension rollers had a catastrophic failure and collapsed inwards pulling all the belts with it. Today we're going to dive into what caused this to happen, what we're going to do about it, and take a closer look at the 605 N Select that my Vermeer dealer is loaning me while ours is in the shop. We're even going to discuss whether or not we even continue to have a round baler at all. For 13 years this 605 Super M has been a faithful and stellar piece of equipment. However, its time on our farm may being coming to a close.

The opinion no one asked for…….. if you can fix somewhat inexpensively, and keep using your cutter, keep cutting hay. BUT, if you have to buy a new cutter and baler, I’d custom bale!
