2007 Kawasaki Prairie 360 Belt light reset limp mode proper procedure

  • Every reset procedure on You Tube and the internet is false and does not work. Everyone says to connect the grey to black and black to grey. This is not correct for this year. Watch the video to learn how to do it properly. Thanks. Moto Pros Cycles Tea, SD. WWW.MOTOPROSLLC.COM

I have a 2005 Prairie 360. A couple of years ago I changed the belt. I have tried several procedures based on what I have seen on the web, including the one in this video, and none of them have reset the belt light.
My 4WD actuator failed and while replacing it I tried again to reset the flashing belt light. That was before I found this video. Apparently when I used a different procedure which involved switching the grey and white plugs and unplugging either the two black wire plug and the other multi-wire black plug by the two wire plug (I tried both) I managed to put the bike into Limp mode. When I did this the belt light and 4WD light both came on solid (no flashing) . I followed your procedure and my belt light is again flashing as it did before I changed the 4WD Actuator, the 4WD light is working correctly and I am out of limp mode. I can live with the flashing belt light.
    Thanks

Clear, concise, and correct. This method worked immediately after I wasted probably an hour trying the other method many times and double-checked the belt setup. Thank you for posting this.

Perfect video. Followed along with you. Been riding the quad for a year with a bunch of dash lights blinking. Replaced belt and cleared all lights. Quad rides well again.

This is the right way only on this model year rest of the 360 prairies had 5 wire black and grey connectors and on those you swap them.

Okay, so I did this and it worked long enough for me to get around the garden. I shut her off to run inside and when I came back out and turned her on, she was back into limp mode again and the light was flashing .... is there a reason? I just installed a new belt. That was the only difference. It never went into that mode before...

08 brute force 750i. I tried both ways, changed the belt, made sure the switch inside the cvt was on... it won't come off, and the light doesn't blink faster or slower. Also, the primary sheave is not engaging in forward or reverse, not until you get it about half throttle... something is up here? Im guessing they is something wrong with the sheave?

Hi. Can you or someone else help me with troubleshooting this or determining what I need to do? It will no longer go into 4x4 which in the past it has always worked until last fall when I replaced the belt. The belt light has been flashing for years but in the last couple it runs horrible until I have it run for quite a long time. When I changed the belt the switch was wired into the on position and I cut that bailing wire out and just left it in the on position when I reassembled everything. After following your procedures and having it not work I did check the switch lead and it shows as a dead short. Is this correct? Here is the video.

Because either it's not the correct machine, you're not doing it right or you have other issues with the unit. Works for us and many others.
