Always enjoy the vids man. Win,lose,or draw its always fun to get out on the water. I got my butt kicked today. Caught only 1. There's always the nxt time for shoar.
That Zako is a killer trailer. I use it on the zman willow blade head. Warmer water. No skirt. Get that thing going pretty quick and just slam them. Super glue is a must if you don't wanna spend 40 bucks on Yamamoto for one day fishing lol
My biggest chatterbait fish caught 2 within an hour for 12.2!! It was 48 degrees and I was hesitant to tie it on. I yo yo and slow rolled it as much as I could and it was working well that day..I’ve picked it up a lot and always though no below 50 but I’m learning it works above 45 degree water fairly good ..same with slow rolling a spinner . Jerkbait is my fav and a bald head still though
It's great to see someone lose a fish and just wind in and make another cast ,instead of acting like a child, throwing things, and cursing. I subbed because that's also how i fish.
Good video Gabe. I’ve never been able to catch or get a bite using a chatter bait. I’ve got my arsenal pretty much rebuilt except for chatterbaits & more storage. lol. So, what do you think is the best chatterbait to use & what colors for pre spawn, post spawn, fall & winter? I know that’s a lot in 1 question & I’m sorry. I got some colors from your videos. But just wanting a few colors per season. Keep the videos coming Gabe.
Honestly the 2 colors I mention in the video are my favorites. The Yamamoto Zako is one of the best if not the best trailer. I'll also use a Zoom Speed Craw or Yama Craw. 2 other colors that work great in Spring, especially in stained water, are Black n Blue and Red. That's all you need. Get some in 3/8 and 1/2. The Z Man Jack Hammer is good and the bladed jig from Titty's Jig Works is another good one. Start throwing that sucker in late March and you'll get bites.
Chatterbaits are great baits. You can catch bass even if you fish them wrong. You just need confidence. Use a mid to slow baitcaster 6 or low 7s to 1. 14-16lb line. Mod fast rod is beat but honestly any rod will get you bit. Greenpumpkin or a variant of GP is the best all around color. You can mix trailer colors with GP. So white, blue, red, chartreuse or whatever works with a GP colored chatterbait. Jackhammer chatterbaits are the most popular but any of the Z man's work. Best trailers are Zakos, Spunkshads, Menace grubs are some of my favorite and popular choices. Throw it until you get bit, don't put it down. Good luck.
I fished them in the past and never had a bite, then watched Matt Stephen talk about fishing them in the grass so I went down to the river and found grass beds so I tied on a black and blue zman chatterbait with a fluke because it was tha biggest trailer I had with me. I made a cast and backlashed a few loops so after I got my reel straighten out I yanked my rod tip straight up to try and lift my lure off the bottom and bam. My PB smallmouth at the time. Fishing those here during the prespawn has caught me everything from 3½ to 4½ lb smallmouth. It's a female grabber here in Tenn. Thanks for the winter tips.
I've been catching a lot of fish on the Bill Lewis Scope Stik 100 in Pro Blue and Phantom Purple. It's been a great bait for me. They have them at Bait WrX. You can use code THM10 for 10% if you find some you like. The Berkley Stunna is a good one too.
Dirty water is what I cut my teeth on. My local lake is only 2-3 ft deep and never more than a foot visibility most of the year. Unfortunately this has given me zero confidence in clean water. Fish are harder to catch with high visibility in my opinion.
This is one of my favorite things to use in the winter time and I’ve never seen many talk about it
Cool. It's a great bait that I keep getting more n more confidence in. Thanks for the feedback.
You just proved that you can catch bass in cold water if you keep working at it and find the bait. Good job. Thanks for another lesson.
Thanks buddy.
Man it always amazes me how hard the hit in cold water at times. That one was a dandy Gabe!
No kidding. When they commit they commit!
That shows we need not limit ourselves to the normal selections, keep and open mind, and try stuff. Hard to believe that last fish got off.
Nailed it. Ya that fish was hot!!!!!
Bladed jig wouldn't have been my first choice on a day like this, but I have to admit... you made it work!
It's all about the confidence and trying something different. I'm wondering if I can catch one in 39 degree water.
I have to use a chatter bait more. Been a spinnerbait guy forever. Great video Thanks for posting
Thanks Scott. Tie one on this spring and just throw it on a couple of trips instead of a spinnerbait. You will gain confidence quick. Tight lines.
That's why I pay that compliment there is because I saw that deer on your video
That deer was sick. I felt sorry for it.
Just received another subscriber with this video. Thanks for the tips
Thanks man! I really appreciate it.
Really do enjoy your vids. You really had a good day bummer you didn't land the big one...
Thanks Barry. Ya Those last 2 fish swam a 100MPH at the boat. Next time

Man those days keep us coming back. Winter can be super tough to get a bite. Glad you caught one.
Nice vid, thanks for posting.
Thanks Jerry.

Zako is money. I need to give that rig a chance. Thanks
A Chatterbait has become my favorite bait over the last several years.
It's an amazing bait. Seems like you can always get a bite on it.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks Bill. I'm going to start posting in the evenings now. Appreciate you.
Try using it basically like a blade bait. Lift till the blade starts kicking then drop back down. Ive had success but could have been dumb luck too.😂
Exactly how I use it! Maybe you are on to something lol
Thanks Richard. I'll give that a try again. I've done that in the past but that's a retrieve I forget about.
Love your videos by the way ❤
Thanks, appreciate it! 🤘

Ya I've been experimenting with a bladed jig in colder water the last few years. It definitely works in the right conditions.
I need a c-map breakdown of the depths of that lake, all my bites been deep lately
Ya it's a conditions thing plus they tend to live a little shallower in that lake.
@TheTinHorseMonty that's what I was thinking was more that lake specific thing
@@danielt3425 yup
34 degrees, that’s dedication Tin man!
Thanks God for the sun!
We're all frozen up here in WV May be a few months until we hit the water. Gonna put this technique in the "to do" category
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can fight off cabin fever with some UA-cam content. Stay warm.
That's why I go fishing Troy lake why are they to see wild game reindeer 🦌 all kinds of wild game that is peaceful
I like watching the wildlife too buddy. Sometimes I see bobcats.
try dragging and slow popping(small hops) off bottom with a rattrap too
Ok Thanks.
Was that box you got in leftover from our LOZ tournament 🤔😂 saw my chug-bug in there 😉
LOL That's my junk drawer. Got a little bit of everything in there. Chug Bug's are good luck in the boat!
Indeed they are🤙🏼🤘🏼

Thanks for the sub and checking out the channel. Agree it just happens sometimes. Lets me know I'm doing something right. Take care Marshall

@@kevinbeaudean704 Thanks for the tips. Love it when folks help other folks!!
@@itllkeal Thanks man. Great feedback. Just takes a few bites to get confidence in a bait!
Man heartbroken on that last fish.
Sucker was moving fast.
Black and blue on a glass rod in the cold water

How deep were you fisging?

Just found your channel. What state or area of the country are you in? I’m I’m Missouri. Thx!
Glad you found me. I'm in the Cape Girardeau MO area.
Ring... Ring... ;). What water were you on?
Lake X
15 lb. line, what line floor?
Fluorocarbon
what is a good jerkbait and color to throw this time of year? Thanks..

Where was the big thumper. ??
Funny you brought this up. I have a video coming out soon that you may like LOL
Was that actually a jackhammer ? Look like a home made bladed jig
Yes it was. Titty's Jig Works makes some sweet home mades tho.
No Finley
It was a bit chilly for her that day.
Let me tell you about colorado blade spinnerbaits, but...$$$
O ya I know about them. Stay tuned.
Has anyone ever drilled small holes in the blade of a chatterbait?
Yes There are a few companies that make a bladed jig with holes in the blade. Smaller companies I believe.
Dirty water is what I cut my teeth on. My local lake is only 2-3 ft deep and never more than a foot visibility most of the year. Unfortunately this has given me zero confidence in clean water. Fish are harder to catch with high visibility in my opinion.
Totally understand. When I fish dirty water and run to a clearer part of the lake I feel like I may not get a bite. If I start in clear water I'm ok.
This is one of my favorite things to use in the winter time and I’ve never seen many talk about it
Cool. I get more n more confidence in it year after year. Thanks for checking it out.
