I love it when you feature the cars that were common on the road in my childhood. I was a car nut back as far as I can remember. My grandfather had an old derelict Model T in his yard that I would play with when I was a tiker.
Always liked these mid to late 30's cars with the headlights moved to the inside of the fenders. Body styling came a long way in just a few years. Great looking car, never saw any of these before.
What a stunning beauty bob kane must have used this car for the first batmobile in 1939 holy Moses it is awsome beautyfull color i love it motor wow absolutly stunning and easy to work on thank you jeff and Jordan for this 😊 😊 😊 drivning around in this would be fun thanks maybe gotham city
My neighbor had his grandfather's '39 Plymouth two-door sedan. We always wanted it. He refused to sell it and preferred to watch it rot. It's nice to see basically what it should have looked like.
Yes, very impressive and more. Buying a car in the 30's & 40's from Detroit, Michigan. Rock-In-roll for Detroit Rides. 😀 • Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
To think that a few years earlier, most cars were like boxy relics from a past era. By 1939 almost all new US cars were streamlined. USA really led the way in car design. Does anyone know if the headlights were sealed beam and where were the front marker lights?- inside the headlamp unit perhaps?
If you still have this car I would love to come by and see it. I recently found a photo of my dad from around 1942 standing next to this exact car. It took me a while to figure out what it was. Looks like the Chrysler badge is only on the driver side of the hood which was not visible in my photo.

I agree, I personally think it's the best era in car design.

King George VI and his queen Elizabeth rode in one of those during their visit to the United States in 1939.
It is my understanding that Chrysler and Desoto shared the same body
Restored the way it should be done
