Haha, slightly different topics though! I really should get my control suspension but considering I haven't been able to see my race car for nearly four months there really doesn't feel like much point :( might as well spend money on a car I can actually drive.
Good effort bloke! Good effort tackling a job that hard yourself, but also for making it entertaining and not looking sketchy ! Half the home mechanics in the world would be bashing and hacking away and looking horrid. Not bad production efforts given you were doing it all solo!
Cheers mate! Appreciate it, yeah really hard to film in my home garage compared to my old man's place, much more space and light but we work with what we have! I like learning new things and this is something I wanted to have a crack at, glad it worked out haha. Cheers for the support :)
Great video mate. About to do this and a lot of other preventative maintenance on ny Chaser. Any video on that thermo fan install you were going to do and what did you end up going with? I've heard good stuff about davies Craig fan controllers Thanks!
ummm not sure if i ever filmed it but yeah went with the davies craig controller and it's great! and then got hold of an AU falcon thermo fan setup as they are rock solid, adapted that in and she's been good! just make sure you get the later model davies craig controller wthat has the option to change out to a sscrew in temp sensor, as my is an older one and only has the sensor that sits in the rad fins, not the greatest design.
so in general buggered valve stem seals blow smoke when you are driving alone, shut off and let the engine go into vaccum and then put your foot down again, the vaccum sucks oil through the stems and then blows smoke. Idling at the lights can be rings, or turbo, most likely turbo, which is what mine was doing when turbo died :)
I think max spec for axially movement is less than .15mm on a lot of Toyota turbos (obviously doesn’t count for aftermarket) but dam, you could measure that with a tape measure!
It's insane huh! Something is definitely weird as it has no side to side shaft play and boosts great, I'll have to pull it apart and see what's happened for sure.
So I just worked it out and it's been on the car for about 6 years daily driving, not really boosted or thrashed, I wouldn't go that route again due to potential damage to the engine, the impella had been hitting the intake housing which is real bad, who knows how many alloy shavings it's sent off into my engine :/
You've come a long way since the first episodes of Nuggets. You look a lot more confident. How long did it actually take to do it like that ?? I've considered it a few time but than just took the head of and give it a good clean ( and a bit of a port job as well ) Never mind not remembering which valves you've done, not long from now you'll be standing in front of the fridge wondering what you're doing there. ( which isn't a bad thing cause you can grab a beer and drink that until you figure out what it actually was. )
Cheers mate :) once you get in a rhythm it's pretty fast, now i know what i'm doing i'd say i could do it again in 3-4 hours. Definitely easier with the head off but considering how good condition this engine is in and the cost of ARP head studs, gaskets, surfacing etc, it was a MUCH cheaper option :) Haha, i constantly finding myself doing that at the fridge, or going into the garage to go get something and come back an hour later after tinkering with the car and completley forgeting the thing i went to get haha.
@@aussietruckphotosandmodels8510 Nice :) I got the gearbox back in the soarer, new clutch, machined flywheel, new slave cylinder, new rear main seal, new gearbox input seal, all scrubbed up and cleaned. Didn't bother filming it as i just wanted to get it done and it's not that exciting anyway, next vid on this car should interest a few people though, just need to find the time to film and do it!
Hahah quite possibly :) this was a while ago now, so she's got all goodies on her now! running like a dream... i mean, bar an oil leak... and a drivetrain vibration.... and rear sub frame bushes.... god dammit haha
A few days ago I bought that tool set and in a few more days I will use it in my car, I hope it will be very useful to me.
Holy $#*!
A Big Rig video AND a Nugget video on the same day. Best weekend ever ! 😁👍👍

Im glad you mentioned that your supra dropped a valve because alot of ppl have this notion that 2jz or 1jz are not an interference engine.
So the 1jz is non interference but I'm not sure about the 2j, haven't had much experience with them :)
Only 2j that’s interference is a non turbo due to higher compression and thinner head gasket
@@Feedme_pizza see this is what im talking about. you didnt specify whether vvti or not which makes everyone who says that hard to believe.
@@divin3kag3242 it’s don’t matter vvti or not not turbo is non turbo
Awesome work. I always drop something in my engine bay. Looking forward to the next video.
It's the worst feeling man! Just listening to it rattle down! Gaarrr
It's been to long! You deserve more views....
Cheers mate, been a tough year for making content but I'm.doing my best!
Nice job on the pin recovery!
I was very relieved!

Some fancy C.A.D going on around the 12 minute mark
Huggies branded precision race parts!
Would idling at a stop light and taking off with a blue cloud of smoke be the valve stem seals or the turbo?

How long did you run the Kinugawa Turbo? I was thinking about buying one as an upgrade unit but that shaft play is massive.

Damn wish you were in brisbane would have paid you to help me do mine as workshops want 15 hours labour to do it and I can’t afford that 😂
Yeah it's bloody expensive that's why I've learnt to do most of the work myself, learning to weld next ;)

@@TheNuggetProjectYou have to watch what your doing when you go for a tinker in the shed cause you might end up building a race car.....
It's definitely a real risk :p

Fuck I’m in the exact same spot with my chaser. Valve stem seals, bad turbos and faulty vvti solenoid😂 do we have the same car
