Im actually surprised nick is the one struggling now while ethan, the guy dating the girl who started all of this and basically asked nick to run the story, is doing just fine. Seems like nick actually feels bad for the whole situation and even struggling while the other two have moved on with little else hitting them.

I think it's somewhere in the middle, he actively tried to ruin people's lives with false accusations. If this goes worse for SM, that's 2 or more innocent people's lives destroyed by NickIsNotGreen, EthanIsOnline and lexupdog.
Chud’s too softened by his old age and fatherhood. Nick’s head must remain on the pike lest other soy commentary channels get too comfortable and similarly act the fool.
At this point, he needs to just go away. Like IPOS, he played his hand catastrophically, and there is no recovering. Sometimes your career really is defined by one mistake, and the truth is the guy made himself into the perfect patsy.
The extreme doubling down early on, then the extended apology tour later. Idk, I feel like the only way out of this for him was to burn that relationship he had with Lex and Ethan to the ground. They obviously weren't his friends... It's too late now though.
There is absolutely recovering if he just shut up and made videos again. Look at his own best friend in the situation: Ethan is Online. Despite the fact he arguably had more involvement in the entire controversy that caused this, his channel is doing just fine because he just never really stopped to respond and just kept making videos. He's never apologized, in fact he still to this day believes he did the right thing, yet just by continuing to upload videos and ignore what people said, he ended up fine.
The reality is, people don't actually care as much as you think they do. There will be some level of hate that remains forever and a small portion of his audience may never forgive him, but it doesn't reflect the majority. Most people, if he were to just continue uploading videos like he used to, will eventually come back and his view count will go close to the same in around 6 months to a years time. The reason his videos now get barely any views compared to his older uploads is simply because he stopped uploading. There was close to a year break between uploads, so when he returned it killed his channel.
i think he could 100% recover from this if he was better adjusted. all he needs to do is make 1 video being honest, apologizing and not trying to make it a pity/cope party. put it behind him, and then ignore all other talk about the subject. and keep making more of his original content, or even shift into something else.
eventually, thisll just be a distant memory that people may occasionally bring up to clown on him for. but mostly forgotten
