Good video Rod and you certainly covered a lot of ground. I remember My first trip to the Philippines. Ft Worth Texas had been in the grip of a 20 year drought and I was looking forward to seeing some rain. I got Super Typhoon Yolanda. Philippines is full of life. It isn't always sanitary or organized but then life isn't always that either. When I went home it seemed so lifeless. Take care Rod.
Thx Rod. As a former Minnesota boy myself, I certainly don't miss the cold, mosquito's, and the deer flies. When it's 112° here in Tucson, that Minnesota cold doesn't seem as bad.....lol.
Hi Rod, it's been 4 years since I was last in Cebu. It looks like it hasn’t changed much. I've stayed in several condos via Air BnB. They are outrageously priced, not always clean (despite charging cleaning fees), and the beddings are questionable. One time, I almost got electrocuted while cooking on an electric plate! The bathroom was so filthy, I ended up scrubbing it myself! Never again!
I’ve heard about the “pending “ crash in the condo market but l don’t intend to buy a condo, l would rather just rent, if the market does dip , it will likely make rental prices drop. I like how you do your channel and your lifestyle feels more like mine , l relate more to how you go about your daily routine.
Same here. It is easy to buy properties in the Philippines, every Tom, Dick and Harry is a wannabe real estate agent charging usually 20% of the sale price. But it is harder to sell.
Thanks for relating to my channel! I try to keep it as real as possible. I have been doing a lot of researching on the condo and real estate market. Metro Manila is getting hit the worst with high vacancies.
If there's a really screaming deal or a deep discounted REO sale, look into it. Rents are tied to economics and some tourism. As long as those factors are stable, rents are not going to drop that significantly.
I would never buy anything in the Philippines, i lived in cebu city for 7 years and always rented a condo. You want to be able to leave when u can, people come and go in condos and many Airbnbs. I had noise problems, construction near, very loud neighbors, people using Airbnb making noise all night, some allow dogs which bark a lot. They are building too many condos, here in cebu there is always construction of condos. But many are vacant, i lived in IT park and when i went to the pool you could count the vacant condos. I was renting a new studio for around $360 a month.
Metro Manila is having what many call a "crash" with high vacancy rates in office and condo buildings with a many year oversupply. Will is happen in Cebu. Video coming soon.
@@Southeastasiantraveler Mid value houses have gotten pretty cheap in Manila lately. The Philippines is seeing a lot of foreign money flowing into it at the moment and the instant it stops flowing in the crash will happen faster than the spurt. I bought a house that had been on the market for 2 years at P9 Million and I bought it a couple months ago for P5.7 Million and this is 450km outside of Manila where you would expect the effects to show up much later. I saw a solid modest home in Pasay a few months ago selling for P2.5M. I'd have bought that but I don't spend much time there and empty houses rot.
I have seen the video of the community outside Manila by the port that caught fire. I can't get that image out of my head. To know that there are about one million people that live there. Sure you could go in and feed a few people and feel good about what you have done. They are still pour. What little they had is now gone. Like the good book says, give a man a fish, feed him for a day. teach a man how to fish, feed him for life. Someone once asked Jesus about the pour. His response was, you will always have the pour. We can try to help people, but if they refuse to carry there own water. They will remain pour. It's my understanding it is illegal to give money to beggars in the Philippines. Now wouldn't that be something. Hay, what are you in here for? Giving money to homeless people. I want to save the world, but I struggle to save my self. Funny thing is, GOD gives me everything I need. Rod, Keep the videos coming And stay forever young.👍
Try using 'carne', instead of 'meat', Rod. LoL. Beware of the pot holes on the pavement, Amigo, they can result in serious injuries, as you well know. Bob.
It's about time to stop this price gouging to expats, tourists and locals. This is a welcome news. I am planning to retire in the philippines but only if businesses or investors are not overcharging us to the roof.
oh geez, ya know, oh gash, oh golly... get in your kire... don't forget your bigs... your grocery bigs... oh jeesh.... i drink ill-cohol with my buddy illix... oh jeesh... i must be from wis-KINE-son....oh jeesh

Thanks Robert and I agree. I see so many videos of the USA and other western countries and like....where are all the people?
Thx Rod.

Thanks for sharing your experience Marie. Airbnb can be good ...or very bad.
Howdy! Living the good life here in Santa Rosa Laguna!
Cool! Thanks Craig.

any updates news on condo market oversupply crash ?
Just put up the video Jim.
My gf LOVES a certain bakery on Osmena Blvd! I can't go to that area without her dropping by that bakery.
LOL! I bought some "stuff" from a local bakery last week.. I had 1 donut and the rest disappeared. GF took them to work.
Your walk arounds are always interesting, although, I have no desire to ever live in a city as crowded as Cebu City.
Thanks Jim. I appreciate the conveniences...but still lacking with "out of stock" too often.
I didn’t notice a handicap entrance in Robertson’s mall.
They do have sort of one but quite steep long ramp Richard.
There is no equivalent to the ADA in the Philippines to the best of my knowledge but things are changing slowly.
Question do you believe there well be a crash in the Condo market ?
No crash likely, unless something happens on a global scale. The Philippines is seeing a growth spurt right now, prices continue to rise.

I walked down that street multiple times! 😂

Thanks for the tip Bob, I will try to use "carne" more. It is a challenge here as you know.

Cebu is an obstacle course of broken sidewalks.
As is most of cities in the Philippines
And it will take many years to fix...if there is a will and money for it Rick.
