I honestly think Andrew Luck is just that genuine. There’s video of the colts fans finding out he retired while he was on the field and he had to be escorted off the field, broke my heart.
As a Colt fan, all the fans who boo’d him off the field when they announced his retirement (during the preseason game) all lost their fan-card. it was disgraceful, we miss him so much

Matthew Staffords micd up moment at the end of the video is the longest uncut micd up moment in nfl history. It was his first year in the NFL. On that play you see, he dislocated his shoulder on what shouldve been the last play of the game. But the defense was called for a penalty so they got one last shot. The doctors told him to stay out, he said “fvck it, if you need me to throw, I can throw” put himself back into the game and won. That 5 minute video of him is worth a reaction
Andrew Luck really is just that nice of a guy. He gave up Football and all of that potential money to avoid injury so he can remain mentally healthy for his family.
I'm hoping more players learn from his decision.
The Matthew Stafford Mic'd up moments have two iconic moments that deserve to be watched in it's entirety. There is the Clip at the Very end with comeback win + injury. The whole clip is like 3 minutes long and it is brilliant. It look like something out of a movie. The other was the "CLOCK IT!" Mic up moment, where he does a fake spike to score a touchdown to win the game. Matt Stafford was amazing to watch for the Lions with all his comeback wins. The only problem is that they had to come back to win if they were going to win. Glad he got his ring with the rams.
Andrew Luck is 100% not reverse psychology. he was just that kind of guy. it was weird how nice he was. you should look into him actually - he was labeled a generational prospect coming out of Stanford, went #1 overall and was an elite QB in the NFL but retired at just 30. he had a chance to be a hall of famer if he didn't retire and he's only 34 now.
He was really good but he never lived up to "elite" status. That's kind of revisionist history. He was a top 10 QB but injury prone and when he was playing he threw a lot of picks. It's sad he retired so early but he wasn't on pace to make the HOF or anything

As a Colts fan it wasn't reverse psychology although I totally understand why you would think so. He's just that type of guy. Super genuine and kid like when he played and never really got angry at anyone. Great guy.

I think Luck is genuine. I do think it psyches players out though because they can’t help but like him
I remember that last clip with Matthew Stafford watching it live. If I remember correctly it was later determined that he had broken his collarbone on that devastating hit and finished the game in pain playing with it broken. Every step must have been agony let alone people patting him on the shoulders in congratulations. Say what you want about his skills or accomplishments, but that is a Man right there.
Multiple players have talked about Luck throwing them off with all the compliments. If it makes you subconsciously hold up just that tiniest little amount when you have a hit on him, that's enough for a guy of his level to beat you. Sucks he retired early but he was looking out for his health.

Peyton Manning is really hilarious. You guys should really check out clips of the Manning brothers on Monday Night Football. They’re funny and it’s really interesting to hear them talk about what they’d do in the situation they’re watching on the field.

It was his running back, Donald Brown. He was supposed to take a play fake but just ran a completely wrong route (in the wrong direction, iirc).

Stafford's shoulder was dislocated on the touchdown pass--he went to the sideline, but Cleveland called time out, which gave Stafford a minute to collect himself and we went back in to make the 2point conversion to win the game then went back to the bench and the locker room where they put his shoulder back in place. Nothing like football players. Stafford won the SB with the Rams 2 years ago, but was injured almost all of last season. His best friend from grade school and high school is a terrific major league pitcher Clayton Kershaw. They both were excellent pitchers, but Stafford was also a great college QB and went NFL.

Yeah that Stafford shoulder injury reminds me of Univ of TN vs Arkansas in 2002. 6 OT’s and in the game winning TD UT QB Clausen there to Jason Witten you can see Clausen holding his left arm down and keeping people from hugging him as he had hurt it earlier in the game. Exactly how Stafford was trying to not let people hit him on the shoulder.
Stafford won the Super Bowl a couple years back with the Rams. He is one tough dude. They actually mic’d up that Super Bowl he played in. A bunch of the players were mic’d on both the Bengals and Rams.

Stafford on the last play was his rookie year and he separated his left shoulder. He was supposed to come out due to the injury timeout but the Browns called a timeout which allowed Stafford to return. He threw a TD on the final play then ran off to get his shoulder looked at. He missed the rest of the year if I recall

Colleges lack the major bargaining gambit of moving. You can’t pack up the university and move if the city doesn’t want to build something. Plus they’re usually in relatively small towns so there’s not major budgets to ask for anyway. The big colleges have enough money that it’s not an issue really, anyway. The small schools just have to make do with what they have.

Stafford was a long time lions Qb then finally moving teams and joining the rams and finally getting a Super Bowl ring. But that number 12 was Andrew luck. He was a real nice genuine guy and imo one of the big what IFs at the QB position. Andrew luck was so damn talented dude was an absolute monster he could do everything. He is the only guy when healthy and at his best reminds me of mahomes because he did all the crazy things mahomes did with running and throwing at awkward angles and making crazy passes. If only his body held up and if he was still playing he’d definitely be known as one of the greats. Injuries took that away from him sadly.
IMO with Luck, he IS that nice of a person...but he's also incredibly intelligent and is using it as a tactic so that the defensive pass rushers don't hate him and have less passion to come after him. He went to Stanford which is better than some Ivy league schools. A lot of top tier football schools that are also top tier academically will lower their standards in terms of admittance, if you're good enough at sports. Stanford doesn't do that.
