randy95023 - I agree with you that the ball ammo from these rifles would easily penetrate the walls and wood that these soldiers are using for cover. Also, a .30 cal ~150 gr bullet traveling at about 2500-2800fps dumps quite a bit of energy in the body, causing considerable tissue maceration around the wound channel.
I read an article in a gun magazine back in the 60s or 70s about the company that provided and serviced all the firearms for this show. They really kept the MGs running well for all episodes but should have coached the producers better on what effect they would have in a real engagement. At the range shown here, the house would have been poor shelter from the German 8mm round.
I love Combat and it is pretty realistic. One "shortcoming" that continually bugs me is the power of the rifles in use. I have Mausers, Mosins, an M1 Carbine, M1 Garand and an Enflield SMLE. ALL, except the .30 caliber Carbine fire a very powerful round. German MG34/42 fires the same round as the Mauser 8MM (7.92x57). In fmj these rounds would pass right through that house and out the back, even if they hit the 2x4" or 4x6" beams! One "Long Burst" of that MG34 would end this show early...
randy95023 - Since none of us are involved in anything or have friends and stuff, no one can come up with a reason for this. All we can think of is whoever did this had a mistaken location. The police said this definitely wasn’t a drive by which would have had only a few shots fired, but a deliberate action. I’ve lived in my house since 1989, and the neighborhood has defenently changed, but I won’t let it scare me off.
randy95023 - Don’t know about firearms but know about them going through walls. My house got shot up 2 yrs ago, 0230 one morning. Police recovered 36 casings from 2 high caliber guns in the street, 8 slugs in the house, didn’t even bother taking those in the walls, TV or furniture. They came through the siding and drywall of a porch then the inside wall and across the room in the opposite walls. I just left the room when it happened. In spring I discovered the roof was peppered with holes too.
Nancycatxx - LOL, If you want destroyed furniture, you can have whatever you want from my house, after the kids, dog, cats, etc. My house looks like a Combat episode!
Poor little farmhouse! Didn't Saunders and the squad rip it up a few episodes ago taking out a German squad or OP? I remember it and the nice "concrete" walls in the yard.
+John Rayner Lots of episodes have had glimpses of modern buildings, highways, modern power lines and drainage ditches, even cars, but Season 5 seems to have somewhat more. Not sure why.
+John Rayner Forgot to mention the 6 foot chain link fencing with three strands of barbed wire at the top, which was "not common" in rural France in the Forties!
That was SOP. All medics got the nick name DOC, and never carried a weapon. The ones I was with in Vietnam were the same. We called every one of the DOC and they never carried a weapon. The we're the Really brave guys.
There’s a small town in north western Washington state that has a hardware store and there’s a painting of a local medic firing his colt 45 while he’s holding a bottle of plasma for his wounded soldier. I don’t remember if it’s from WWII in the pacific or if it’s in Vietnam. The medic is a local hero. The town is the county seat and it’s on the waterfront of the Pacific Ocean and a river. Just having a bad memory …
My God! I'm glad that you guys are OK (I'm assuming that's the case.) It's a shame that any maniac would fire a high powered weapon into an occupied residence. Of course I don't know why anyone fired at you, but I'm sure that you couldn't have done anything that would deserve such an act. I keep my weapon collection in a 600 lb. safe so that no burglar could put MY guns into the streets. IMO All responsible gun owners should take such safeguards.
The episode would be over in ten minutes if the realism of the weapons fired was a factor. That of course and all those handy fallen tree trunks that are always positioned right on cue at every ambush.
It IS a dangerous world! Let's keep the "violence" to the TV and Movies. We can enjoy watching our Soldier Friends on Combat, but NOBODY should be out shooting near where children and "civilians" live. btw; I left a comment on your channel. Peace to you!
+bafongue1 J your an example of luck and timing if you were born in 1923-24 there's a 99% chance you would of served had you of in ETO Europe you'd a known a medic who stayed unarmed was almost always given a free pass to do his job. Side note as a WWII researcher I've seen many Americans who were KIA IDPF file you wouldn't believe how many traumatic amputations were listed. meaning they died artillery and mortars
+wayne schumacher Something to do with maximum capacity per upload - don't know if it's his software or a UA-cam issue. Seems the color episodes have more bits than B&W.

Combat is rough. You have to kill or be kill. That is so very hard. It changes a person forever..
Estás si eran capitulos de combate felicidades

The bricks are very strong. In that particular part of the country, the bricks are superb.
Dang, in every episode I've watched (4 Seasons +) I've seen furniture that I wouldn't mind having in my house, get destroyed lol.

And machine guns don't regularly make that stupid richochet sound.
Can't believe any recon would venture out without a radio.

Since Mr. Flint is on this episode, I keep waiting for M-4 to show up and vaporize the Germans. 😂
Me gustaría que 🙏🏽 porfavor la pasen en ESPAÑOL yo siempre veo COMBATE amo 💕 💖 💚 ❤ la serie suban más capítulos en ESPAÑOL porfavor
Why do Krauts leave their cover ( a wagon...), stand up and run directly into enemy fire? Happens all the time on Combat.
Because its in the script. Do you want the director yelling at you?
Dave C that's one reason they lost the war
It allows you to have a fire fight to add action and drama but then end it quickly for storyline progression
COMBAT WHEN I WAS WATCHIN ON THE CHILD AGE SO 50 LONG YEARS AGO 50 YEARS AGO
I remember this episode from when I was 6 years old. The Germans came prancing in with the bazooka.
Doc grabbed the left leg first and right leg after.
Poor Doc doesn't have a leg to run on😅
Nancycatxx - LOL, If you want destroyed furniture, you can have whatever you want from my house, after the kids, dog, cats, etc. My house looks like a Combat episode!

The one guy is from. "The Battle of the Bulge".
OH MY GOD !!! You never told me this Elsbeth! Sure glad you and yours came out alright!!
Did they ever figure what happened..I mean Why it happened?
wow glad that house had walls that stop high velocity mg fire
Nancycatxx - No.
Police said the neighborhood was getting worse. I don't plan to move, this is my house, I love it.
Great episode, however at 8.38 have a look at the visible buildings poking up through the trees!

Not in the Pacific those little yellow bastards purposly took out medics so I'm pretty sure our medics were strapped
Nice...real nice. But thanks for ur service.

They don't like it when you return fire, cowards.

There sure are lots of tree trunks in Combat.
Shit!! If only one more second the grenade can be thrown into the house!! How can American bullets be so accurate and deadly?!
You're right! As long as the grenade thrown into the house, the victory will be ours! If only thrown out the grenade earlier
Muy.buena.la.serie.combate
All very true, Randy, but I suppose it's a dramatic concession, just like 8-round magazines seemed to triple in size.

Somehow I knew that baby faced young man wasn't going to survive. There sure were lots like him in the real war.
+PatriotNC1 Richard Eyer, early child star.
not in sarges platoon you had to be pushing 40 to get in Saunders squad

I think he played Genie in 7th Voyage of Sinbad.
Hamster gays
Morrow wears a different watch in every episode. Spoils of war? 😅
Seems like every German squad has a machine gun.
The MG-42 was made in great quantity and squad tactics were developed to go along with it.
Seems like they never run out or reload the ammo😊
Danny O should have showed up his father and joined the Marines. Then write him from Iwo Jima......
Striking power is better than the Americans
Haha, good place in the fight is standing right in center of the window . oh young man
Adoro so tinha q ser dublado
So, what is the stuff they sprinkle on the wounds?
Dick Stephenson Sulfa powder. Basically a powder penicillin. Then get them to the hospital ASAP.
Pixey Dust.
Don't these American soldiers run out of ammo in a seige ?
Quisiera ver las peliculas de combate en español
