Unexpectedly, from the outside, these speakers look much more expensive and better than from the inside. The mid-range speaker of the closed type is generally not the best solution, it gives a lot of overtones. Twitter was not impressed either. More or less good woofer, similar to a professional, but sad, he on a stamped basket, and a crossover and a small magnet of a low-frequency speaker, probably speak about the total savings of modern speaker manufacturers. It doesn't produce more overtones. The problem is that the Fs (resonance) is higher up the spectrum than with a larger external enclosure and also the q is higher, so the range of the driver is more narrow and more peaky (but you can get it under control with a good x-over).
Mabye you should listen to them first before you judge them, as I always say "you can't see sound" just because a speaker has a massive magnet, doesn't always mean it's good, these go all the way down to 16hz

Probably is better sound quality from open drivers. Or they double as woofers. Seems to be a lack of dedicated "midrange only" hifi drivers in general.
Являюсь обладателем таких колонок. Обошлись в 90 тыров. Слушаю с SANSUI AU-α907L Extra в режиме директ. Особенность - глубокий, бархатный бас. В прямом сравнении в чистую переиграли DIATONE DS-97C. В тоже время мои уши и мозг привык к хрустальным сибилянтам последних и в Магнатах их не хватает. Диатоны оставил подключёнными к Pioneer VSX 932, в связке с которым, при прослушивании цифры, включении всех улучшайзеров и добавлении +6 дБ по верхам и низам звучат кайфово.
These look fun AF. I would love to battle them against my JBL Studio 590's that were 200 spacebucks less. The only 2 things that would bug me about this speaker here is that they're not mirror imaged. (Maybe I'd just buy 3 for LCR to justify non mirror imaged?) And that the midrange is a sealed back. Sealed backs get distortion when they are crossed as low as this one is and you play the speaker loud. It seams like a really, really well built speaker, It's silly they couldn't be bothered to just put an isolation cup on the back of the midrange. Pretty unique tweeter, I'd love to try it!
This Transpuls 1500s shown is the RIGHT SIDE version, with the dual tweeter assembly situated to the right of the midrange. So for a stereo pair, we would need to get the complete matching pair -- one RIGHT SIDE version and the other one being the LEFT SIDE model, with the twin tweeters being to the left of the midrange driver. Here in this demo, you have two RIGHT SIDE versions of the 1500 and no LEFT SIDE version. What!? So your stereo soundscape is going to be quite off. With the smaller TRANSPULS 1000 speakers, you in fact do have separate models for the LEFT SIDE and the RIGHT SIDE. But for the TRANSPULS 1500, I only see one model, the RIGHT SIDE model even listed on the Magnat product page. You are using two of them here, in both the tweeter assembly is on the right. There must or should be a dedicated LEFT SIDE version of the TRANSPULS 1500 with the tweeter being on the far left side, as it is in the TRANSPULS 1000 LEFT. If there isn't, the 1500 should be only used in mono for best results. Not in stereophonic with the proper left-to-right panorama. That would be a huge loss, really, as these babies look quite good. Rather strange brew from Magnat. At least they corrected this omission with the TRANSPULS 1000 -- with those, you do get a dedicated LEFT and separate RIGHT side speaker. Oh well, there is always something to spoil the fun, isn't there?
You r right about distortion on lower frequencies of the sealed back but the right Notch filter or custom crossover can fix that and I am sure they did. Cheaper construction with the sealed back. Probably trying to keep the price at $1200. There are always improvements that can be made but at some point the price keeps going up and then they loose the targeted customers they were going for. I think for myself I can build a speaker that is far better quality and sound great than what I can buy.

some people think they are ported. apparently the ports are tuned to resonate frequency of the driver and the port with foam in stop them producing a hump at that frequency.. I'm considering buying these in the uk as they are only £700.. I want Vegas but one can not get them at all
Reminds me of my DB+ from the eighties! Not the highest quality drivers, but the secret here is efficiency. I;m sure they JAM! It would be easy to build these.
The 1000's would be nice comparison !.The 15'' version is huge ...Maybe the 10'' version would be better for smaller rooms.The economy went into the crossover ...So it's very easy to take this marvel/price to another level .4 caps and one inductor.
Good rock speakers :) The price is very nice ... they sound good. Connect a good 2 × 200 amp in a 40m2 living room and listen to old rock. JBL Studio Monitor 4429 E is much better, but the price is higher x 6. Solid construction without going crazy. Other small loudspeakers are also not better built :). A crossover built according to the rules ...

You have to listen to know of these speakers are good. The drivers look a bit cheap, and the crossover is complicated, but made of cheap capacitors. The cabinat looks nice, there is some bracing on the inside. The acoustic dampening is cheap as well. They are not really expensive for new speakers, I think they look O.K but that's it.
You can get amazing actively powered 3-way studio monitors for this price. Studio monitor quality, balanced inputs, sometimes DSP as well, triple amplifiers inside, etc.
Why is that bassport so close to the wall and acoustic foam.. probly for more db loss with damping, but still its kinda bad that the bassport can sometimes be blocked by the acoustic woll if it ever gets loos

I have Cerwin-Vega, the American version since 1993. Believe me, they are more than shit inside. But the sound is brilliant. No one strives to make them beautiful inside. It just doesn't make sense. Klipsch rf7 mk3 are expensive and luxory but the sound is worse then Magnat Transpuls 1500.

Cerwin Vega 15 inch three way speakers rock. It's been that way from more than 40 years ago to present day. Usually efficiency is in the 101 db range. The Magnat is at 95 db which is still very good. But what this means is that the Cerwin Vegas will play at the same volume level as the Magnats with only 1/3 the power. Cerwin Vegas using a 50 watt per channel amp will get just as loud as the Magnats with a 150 watt per channel amp. The only speakers i know of that can match or exceed the efficiency of the Vegas by a tiny bit are the Klipschorns.
Andrew Robinson and Kristi Wright gave those Magnat Transpuls 1500 speakers a very positive review today, October 24, 2021, where they described them and their sound capabilities in great detail.
They don't think speaker break in is real and called the audience idiots if they do, conversation ends there as far as I'm concerned. They don't know audio from a hole in the ground. They are interested in finding what they like and it's sometimes entertaining; however they are not providing an unbiased review or measurements.

@@Techscrews it cannot be a closed box if there are bloody great holes in it. Its bass reflex....and after some searching it doesnt even het within an octave of 16hz......and driver placement...and untreated edge diffraction....off axis is almost certainly in the horror show league.
@@think2023 From Magnat side they say that they put a foam in front of the ports to improve the sound, but from our tests they were fake ports, because no air was circulating through the ports. So it's a fake design which only looks good.
It is a simply cheap loudspeaker just in really big size outfit 😉 Not the best quality from Magnat. Typical vintage-retro looked, as I wrote to another yt blog, in the '70s some manufacturers made these type loudspeakers like sony ss860, wega disco 1, marantz, sansui, kenwood, etc. I think they all have big sensitivity, but not the best freq response. Big woofers just for big sound pressure, not for the deepest, warm and calm - all rounded bass. As other readers wrote : cabinet is good, well built, the crossower maybe good too, but I think magnat could built in 1 but more serious tweeter, an opened house midrange with own seperated box, and a more serious woofer. But it is not that price range in this size.

Hey, GR research goal is to sell you stuff. No-rez, Crossover upgrades, wire, etc. Buy a speaker and listen to it. If it pleases your ears then it's a good speaker. It's about the music, not the equipment.
@@kevonmanuel Yeah and most speaker manufacturers just want to sell you speakers. Its hard to find ones that are truthful and honest about their specifications and not afraid to show all of them off. GR research at least shows how speakers measure. Dont get me wrong. There are speakers out there that measure well but dont sound good. Thats why its important for speaker manufactures to make speakers that measure well and sound good. Regardless of price. Again hard to find.
Every time I see a speaker review, I wonder first, how could GR Research improve it. And, seeing the components in this one, it's definitely a good candidate for upgrade evaluation.

I’m not seeing anything that would justify the $1200 price tag. The front baffle looks very thin, the crossover is tiny with junk parts, the woofer basket is stamped rather than cast, the magnet looks small too but it could be a neodymium magnet which are smaller in size. I was surprised to see some cabinet bracing and decent damping material. Hi-fi MFGs have basically given the middle class the middle finger, they greatly overcharge for everything now and they don’t care if you can’t afford it. I’ll never own a good stereo system again but with the state of music the way it is that’s probably not a bad thing.
This a perfectly fair price for a PAIR of well made, friggin big 3-way speakers. In what decade have you been stuck to believe that 1200 bucks gets you more than that? Please provide a link to a similar speaker with better cabinet, cast woofers with magnets the same size as it's cone, xover full with polycaps and aircoils etcetcetc for the same price or less.
You never want to have two tweeters. I doubt that paper cone woofer will produce anything under 30-35hz. (spec says 16hz maybe it's a -10db point but even this seems impossible. )
@@randomtube8226 These speakers have a very interesting musicality for their price and are reminiscent of the range sound of the 70s/80s. Moreover, l find that they do not lack serious : having listened to the organ on these Magnat Transpuls, l did notre feel any lack.
If you want powerfull sound, that they are very good choice. They sound a lot better than they look inside. On discounts they can be found for about $900-800.

I don't know how it sounds, but by looking at the price, then at the drivers, and then at the crossover, I would say the customer pays mainly for the woofer. The tweeter and the midrange driver both seem like something came out of a dirt cheap Radio Cassette Recorder. Most of the capacitors are electrolytic, probably the cheapest bipolars money can buy, and only the tweeter got film caps. The resistors are the well known sugar cubes, everyones absolute favorite. The wires and inductors seem like okay, the big one is something I would try to avoid at all costs, but it was probably necessary. I don't really know how I feel about the $1200 price tag...
You definitely should learn the difference between Pozidrive vs Philips screws... You are using the wrong screwdriver bit and damaging the screws heads.

some people think they are ported. apparently the ports are tuned to resonate frequency of the driver and the port with foam in stop them producing a hump at that frequency.. I'm considering buying these in the uk as they are only £700.. I want Vegas but one can not get them at all

The 1000's would be nice comparison !.The 15'' version is huge ...Maybe the 10'' version would be better for smaller rooms.The economy went into the crossover ...So it's very easy to take this marvel/price to another level .4 caps and one inductor.
Good rock speakers :) The price is very nice ... they sound good. Connect a good 2 × 200 amp in a 40m2 living room and listen to old rock. JBL Studio Monitor 4429 E is much better, but the price is higher x 6. Solid construction without going crazy. Other small loudspeakers are also not better built :). A crossover built according to the rules ...

You have to listen to know of these speakers are good. The drivers look a bit cheap, and the crossover is complicated, but made of cheap capacitors.
The cabinat looks nice, there is some bracing on the inside. The acoustic dampening is cheap as well.
They are not really expensive for new speakers, I think they look O.K but that's it.

You can get amazing actively powered 3-way studio monitors for this price. Studio monitor quality, balanced inputs, sometimes DSP as well, triple amplifiers inside, etc.

@@Techscrews O wow i didnt knew thats possible, i always thought this way the air pressure in the box would get dynamic, so you get unstable uneven air pressure on different hz tones, i wonder if this type of port still functions properly after using them for years with dust build up etc

I have Cerwin-Vega, the American version since 1993. Believe me, they are more than shit inside. But the sound is brilliant. No one strives to make them beautiful inside. It just doesn't make sense. Klipsch rf7 mk3 are expensive and luxory but the sound is worse then Magnat Transpuls 1500.
I agree that the products should be listened by the ears, not the eyes.

Cerwin Vega 15 inch three way speakers rock. It's been that way from more than 40 years ago to present day. Usually efficiency is in the 101 db range. The Magnat is at 95 db which is still very good.
But what this means is that the Cerwin Vegas will play at the same volume level as the Magnats with only 1/3 the power.
Cerwin Vegas using a 50 watt per channel amp will get just as loud as the Magnats with a 150 watt per channel amp.
The only speakers i know of that can match or exceed the efficiency of the Vegas by a tiny bit are the Klipschorns.
JBL 590 studio series, which ordinarily sells at $ 1,990.00. a pair.

The magnets are really small compared to JBL L100 Classic (with 12" woofer), but then, those speakers are in a very different class.
Andrew Robinson and Kristi Wright gave those Magnat Transpuls 1500 speakers a very positive review today, October 24, 2021, where they described them and their sound capabilities in great detail.

They don't think speaker break in is real and called the audience idiots if they do, conversation ends there as far as I'm concerned. They don't know audio from a hole in the ground. They are interested in finding what they like and it's sometimes entertaining; however they are not providing an unbiased review or measurements.

Its bass reflex....and after some searching it doesnt even het within an octave of 16hz......and driver placement...and untreated edge diffraction....off axis is almost certainly in the horror show league.
@@think2023 From Magnat side they say that they put a foam in front of the ports to improve the sound, but from our tests they were fake ports, because no air was circulating through the ports. So it's a fake design which only looks good.

Not the best quality from Magnat.
Typical vintage-retro looked, as I wrote to another yt blog, in the '70s some manufacturers made these type loudspeakers like sony ss860, wega disco 1, marantz, sansui, kenwood, etc.
I think they all have big sensitivity, but not the best freq response. Big woofers just for big sound pressure, not for the deepest, warm and calm - all rounded bass.
As other readers wrote : cabinet is good, well built, the crossower maybe good too, but I think magnat could built in 1 but more serious tweeter, an opened house midrange with own seperated box, and a more serious woofer.
But it is not that price range in this size.
My old pioneers similar to this were CHEAP !

Okay. But if you once have the possibility, you might try to get the Canton Quinto 540. They are really good. They are 40 years old now but they outperform many modern speakers, I have a pair of them.

Hey, GR research goal is to sell you stuff. No-rez, Crossover upgrades, wire, etc. Buy a speaker and listen to it. If it pleases your ears then it's a good speaker. It's about the music, not the equipment.
@@kevonmanuel Yeah and most speaker manufacturers just want to sell you speakers. Its hard to find ones that are truthful and honest about their specifications and not afraid to show all of them off. GR research at least shows how speakers measure. Dont get me wrong. There are speakers out there that measure well but dont sound good. Thats why its important for speaker manufactures to make speakers that measure well and sound good. Regardless of price. Again hard to find.
Every time I see a speaker review, I wonder first, how could GR Research improve it. And, seeing the components in this one, it's definitely a good candidate for upgrade evaluation.

I own a pair and for the money, they punch WAAYYYY above their price point. Also search out Andrew Robinsons review of them.

I’m not seeing anything that would justify the $1200 price tag. The front baffle looks very thin, the crossover is tiny with junk parts, the woofer basket is stamped rather than cast, the magnet looks small too but it could be a neodymium magnet which are smaller in size. I was surprised to see some cabinet bracing and decent damping material. Hi-fi MFGs have basically given the middle class the middle finger, they greatly overcharge for everything now and they don’t care if you can’t afford it. I’ll never own a good stereo system again but with the state of music the way it is that’s probably not a bad thing.
This a perfectly fair price for a PAIR of well made, friggin big 3-way speakers.
In what decade have you been stuck to believe that 1200 bucks gets you more than that? Please provide a link to a similar speaker with better cabinet, cast woofers with magnets the same size as it's cone, xover full with polycaps and aircoils etcetcetc for the same price or less.

I doubt that paper cone woofer will produce anything under 30-35hz. (spec says 16hz maybe it's a -10db point but even this seems impossible. )

If you want powerfull sound, that they are very good choice. They sound a lot better than they look inside. On discounts they can be found for about $900-800.

I don't know how it sounds, but by looking at the price, then at the drivers, and then at the crossover, I would say the customer pays mainly for the woofer. The tweeter and the midrange driver both seem like something came out of a dirt cheap Radio Cassette Recorder. Most of the capacitors are electrolytic, probably the cheapest bipolars money can buy, and only the tweeter got film caps. The resistors are the well known sugar cubes, everyones absolute favorite. The wires and inductors seem like okay, the big one is something I would try to avoid at all costs, but it was probably necessary.
I don't really know how I feel about the $1200 price tag...

That's a very small.magnet on the woofer. My buddy has pioneer hpm150's from thej 70's . The magnet on the woofer is ten times bigger than these
