  • Road call to get a customers machine through regen so they can finish aerating the little league ballfields in time for opening day of their season.

    So I think I remember reading in the manual about long idling is not good on the 5100E and they recommend shutting it down... makes a lot of sense with these newer high tech machine and I guess short trippin is bad too. Thanks for the throttle up advice. I’m new to the John Deere tractors as I mentioned early this week that we got 3 new 5100E added to the fleet. I’m looking forward in some diags when they start acting up. Thx for the videos... you and Keith are just awesome to watch and learn from.

      Diesels are most inefficient at idle, no matter the year or make; they start wet-stacking.
      Either way, run the machine at high speed with a decent load and you shouldn't have problems. The FT4 machines have so much protection programmed in that your pretty safe. I'll see if I cant make some general videos on FT4 tractor op and maybe some no tool test methods for the machines.
      Keith is on his own level, he's a prime example of what dedication, training, and loving your job can push you pretty damn far. You put all them together and you can become great.

    I have a 3039r with a new dpf filter and diff pressure sensor. Still reads 126 percent soot. Let it Regen for 2 hours without a change. What do you think? How long should the forced Regen run

    We need a computer in order to help us operate a tractor. These are the times we live in! My JD shut itself down/off without warning due to this BS. Luckily I wasn't pushing a burn pile when it happened.

    Regen is the dumbest thing they ever came up with. The diesel tractor trailer trucks can blow tons of smoke in the air all day everyday but a tractor needs to regen .

      The semi trucks have this and def fluid...I know because I work on this crap all day long half the time. This is just dpf without def on this tractor. They’ve had dpf since 07, then both def and dpf since 2010 on big rigs.

    Such bs to have that crap on offroad equipment, its bad enough on highway vehicles. You won't be seeing that stuff running 30 years from now like the old 30 40 and 50 series and other non "emissions" equipment.

      I don't run into a whole lot of failures of the systems (off-road, HD trucks, or automotive) to be honest. I'd say 10% of the failures I deal with are emissions releated.
      This machine was run at low loads and low speed, no different than how short tripping your car constantly will give it issues.
