This is a great illustration of why I watch every interview with Michael Keaton that comes across my feed. He's effortlessly funny while keeping it all so completely straight-faced. The guy's timing is *chef's kiss*
Is anyone else getting burnt by these three part interviews where UA-cam recommends the last video after the first, so you have to go back to catch the middle? We really need a numbering system in the titles to these interviews.

One of the few guests who can keep Stephen challenged on his a-game throughout the interview. Very intelligent , quick, deep, strategic, and witty man. Not often we see Stephen so mentally engaged to keep up with a guest. Michael tested him. Awesome guest.
Stephen mentioned his past as a comedic actor, Keaton obliged by doing a bit. That levelled up a bunch of times. That was several slam dunks. Stephen barely touched the ball.
He is THE Batman. Modest, funny, charming. Not a total heart-throb/pretty boy, he set the (more) realistic standard of what a normal (rich) superhero would look and act like. There have been great Batman’s since. But Keaton is the man, mannn
The only Batman who could truly balance the ridiculous, self-deprecating aspects of the character, with the darker, brooding, more serious part. Every other interpretation tilted heavily on one or the other extreme.
I remember when his casting was announced. the sheer shock and outrage was immense. a goofy comedic actor playing the incredibly serious and dark Bat Man? Was that a sick joke? no one expected a serious, intense, brooding character study from him. he laid most everyone's fears to rest and made an amazing Bruce Wayne/Bat Man. my first Bat Man was Adam West. :-)
My FAVORITE Batman!!!! When I was a toddler I would watch the 1989 one almost daily. I was so obsessed my mom made me a Batman costume for Halloween when I was three years old and when people would ask if I was Batgirl I would get really offended and say “NO. I’m BATMAN.” I hope I get to meet him someday! :)
The Batman and best Yinzer ever!!! Love this man and he’s been a true inspiration. With quotable lines like “We’re gonna eat a dolphin!” from the smash hit ‘Multiplicity’… this man just oozes charisma.
2:42 The precise moment Stephen Colbert realizes that he's been dumped into the Improv Twilight Zone, and that Keaton is using him as a comedic Whetstone.
Honestly outside of animation - the only actor to truly nail the eccentric playboy and Batman while doing different voices for each. Kilmer's is too serious as is Bales (or he's just goofy in a couple scenes), Clooney was well... just himself, and Affleck was a close second, but I feel if he were in better written films, he'd have been as good or maybe better. And then Adam Wests is just great as it's own thing. But one of my favourite scenes is when he comes in to the armoury where Vicki and Knox are, just following them silently as they make fun of him, finally cuts in with "It's Japanese", 'How do you know', "I bought it in Japan" and just the whole thing through "Oh, and uh, get Knox a grant".
I see all these comments about all the roles MK has played over the years and he has played a TON of great characters, but I haven't seen anyone mention the movie, "Gung Ho". It's kind of an underrated film, in my opinion. I believe it came out in the mid-80s and is a comedy about blue-collar, American auto-workers, whose company is being bought out by a Japanese auto company. I always loved watching it when I was a kid and it has a bunch of familiar faces from 1980s Hollywood. If you've never seen it, give it a watch. I'm sure it's out there streaming in the interwebs, somewhere. :)
I'm usually disappointed I don't see people referencing Johnny Dangerously, lol. I love silly, slapstick movies like that. It's one of those movies that's so full of jokes and visual gags that you can watch it a dozen times and still notice things in the background that you've missed.
Keaton brings batman to life .I loved his character as batman and nails it for me . He really is the only batman i loved the most when I watched his batman movies I was alway copelled to see him wear the Iconic suit. I so happy that he got his comeback is so special and I will always love his movies are my favortite man .When it comes to batman keaton does it so well.
That 1989 movie featured - hands down - the best Batman, the best Batmobile, the best Batwing, the best Joker, etc. I can tell by reading through the very few comments allowed on the Yahoo article this clip was posted in, just how young the people commenting are. "He looks silly in that costume," "He should be wearing Depends," blah, blah, blah. Stick to your TikTok, kiddies, and let the adults in the room converse.
I remember when I saw he was cast as Batman and I expected Batman to be a comedy like the 60s TV show. When it was serious, my respect for Michael Keaton grew. He really nailed it.

I’m old. Adam West is always going to be Batman. Plus he was such a nice man. He went skiing every year at Timberline on Mt. Hood Oregon. He was kind and interested in every minimum wage employee.
Keaton is to Batman as Connery was to Bond. There have been great ones since him but he’s the benchmark. Actual legend.
Lewis Wilson.....
I agree. He's my Batman
Excellent point!
Bond 007 I could say the same about Bale. Those movies have great visuals and lines but not everything holds up to me.
Everyone has opinions
Psst??? Actors aren’t heroes!!! 🌞
The Academy owes Keaton an Oscar...and an apology. This man not having one is a travesty.

Keaton as Batman in 89 was the best. He had a pretty good side cast as well with KiM and Jack!
I love how he segued into that Mike Pence joke and kept it going effortlessly.
I had to replay the segment - was laughing too hard.
What a legend
I want to watch Pence watching this segment, just to see if his face ever changes. Or if he will plead to "Mother" to make it stop.
That was a nice little flash to what he was like as a young stand-up. Felt like he was winging it until you recognized he had a flight plan.
It was even funnier that even though the audience wasn't that into it, he just leaned into the bit relentlessly. Savage
"Sorry Steve, that leg's gonna have to come off..." funniest line of my childhood. Thank you both for all the laughs!
Extremely underrated movie
Even the Simpsons used that line when Bart broke his leg.

Probably made easier as Jack Nicholson did the same thing but was able to be visually much better as the villain of the piece.
