We live in the forest in British Columbia, Canada. When we go for a walk we carry a walking stick with a set of one to two inch diameter bells, attached near the top of the stick that jingle with each step. . And sometimes we sing Bears have poor eyesight but good hearing. It might work for boars.

LOL! If ANYTHING you only get BONUS POINTS from me for taking something comfy to sit on! I used to do a lot of backpacking in the North Cascades, and I had ZERO REGRETS the extra weight that "luxury items" like my extra thick Thermarest pad added to my load LOL! The ONLY thing I take issue with, is not soaking your bread in the pan drippings & frying it up for pan toast! LOVE seeing you back in your happy place out in the woods Vanessa, and ALWAYS APPRECIATE your teaching us about the local plants, animal sign etc. You're THE BEST! Be well, be blessed, be happy...always.

Love those closeup shots of plants, mushrooms, tracks! Good point about a cold body in a sleeping bag. I agree - wet winter weather is very unpleasant and can be deadly if one gets wet without sufficient prep and equipment. I can see a definite improvement in your facial muscle tone. I'm amazed at such a fast recovery. Thanks for a cool and informative video. Looking forward to the next one.

I used to take those big clear plastic squeeze tubes, and fill them with peanut butter & jelly mixed together. I'd take some slices of bread or a nice loaf, & make PBJ sandwiches for quick tasty breakfasts! Carbs, health fats & protein and ready to ROCK the trail! Also, lots of freeze dried strawberries for snacks along with jerky and or smoked salmon or trout (smoked it myself!). Easy healthy trail food while hiking during the day!

Vanessa, you are full of surprises. You seem to be able to take care of yourself in all terrains. You would make a good infantry instructor for the Bundeswehr. I think you're fantastic! I like your choice of work gloves (to protect your hands) and an axe (to chop wood and as a weapon).

closest i've been with a rather big wild boar was in the mountains early evening day light, walking with my german shepard mix "Rintin" and we crosed paralel ways 5 yards away at walking pace. Rintin said nothing. boar said noting and i said nothing... we all continued walking our ways

My family (ancestors) came from your area to United States in 1830. Beautiful country. I like wild boar roasted and we hunt the Spanish version left by explorers, in the U.S. The European version are really beautiful silver tips like our grizzly bear and larger on average or they look it. I like your little buddy too.
Germany is beautiful place, spent 3 months recovering. Never got to see the woods. Thank you for video, kinda like east coast of U.S.. My southern woods are much different. We hunt wild hog here for sport and food
Good bushcraft, good eats, good company. and it all adds up to a good video. So good to see the Bavarian Wood Nymph on the mend and in her elements again. I told you I thought you were doing great. I see a big difference in your eyelid and face movements. You're still a cutie.....LOL. I've seen you wear gloves for winter alpine adventures, but this was the first time you put gloves on to protect your hands prepping the tinder and fuel wood for your fire. ATTA GIRL! Well, you did for dinner so that's a start.....LOL As you get older you begin to realize how important it is to protect you hands for the long haul. Stay safe, you're doing great on the recoop, keep those campfires burning.......it's good for the soul!
