My understanding is that naturopathic doctors are one of the types of holistic practitioners. All the naturopathic doctors I’ve known also take into account the mental, emotional, environmental, etc.
From someone trained in both practices, not all NDs are holistic. In holistic medicine we connect spiritual and ancestral aspects of health and healing. NDs do not recognize spiritual and ancestral components this is not part of the ND basic training
@@vabeachwellness Thank you for clarifying that for me; however, I think it would be confusing for most people as the term holistic is used to describe any form of healthcare practice that takes the entire person into account even without the spiritual and ancestral aspects. I appreciate the distinction, but I think it would be too confusing for most people, and they will probably just continue to use the word holistic how it’s always been used. Thank you.
@@Ane127the word holistic was coined as a marketing term in 2012. It does not change the practice of holistic medicine. The reason I created this video and channel is to educate people on the distinctions. There are not many true holistic doctors. I teach holistic providers on the distinctions. If a person is willing to learn it’s not confusing it’s a deeper level of understanding. I’ve been in the field over 20 yrs. I’m a leader in the field building a school teaching the distinctive practices
@@vabeachwellness Thank you for building a school. We definitely need more doctors trained in natural healing methods. I know you said not all naturopathic doctors are holistic. So all natural medicine doctors are holistic though? Which other healthcare practitioners would be considered holistic? Homeopaths? Traditional Chinese medicine doctors? Ayurvedic physicians? I hope you don’t mind the questions. Thank you.
Hello, no not all natural medicine doctors are holistic. Holistic providers look at all aspects of self. The ones you mentioned could be considered but I also encourage you to see holistic medicine has a healthcare system unique to itself.
Thank you but there is not a person I can refer you to that has my level of depth or training in the Dallas area. My perspective on healing is unique to my practice
As someone who wants to get into holistic medicine and herbalism which direction would you say I should take? Please respond. Gathering research before taking on this journey.
@@HolisticPractice thanks for responding! I would like to do both eventually. I want to practice herbalism and then be able to be in all around holistic medicine and help heal individuals in my community. Herbalism at the forefront.
@@DivineNiiji How are you going to practice herbalism without understanding biochemistry? Meaning how do you understand how to treat using them other than looking up the organs? Or symptoms? How do you prevent people from injury unknowingly ? These are good questions to ask yourself
@@HolisticPractice those are some good questions. Questions I will consider. Soaking up as much game as I can before diving in over my head so I think you. Would you suggest me taking up some biochemist classes prior to taking up any herbalist programs?
I like this. I am all about herbs and natural ways towards treating diseases.
Awesome ✊🏽
this was so helpful thank you queen!
Dr Erica, thanks for explaining this to me, because I always want to understand the differences between them!
Youre SO welcome! Thnx for watching

@@HolisticPractice that approach may take a while. Maybe start the herbalist path first then take up that direction.
