It doesn't matter how fancy the interior is, black just looks cheap. May as well not pay for the upscale interior if it's going to be black because it's going to look just like a work truck model.
These trucks are getting ridiculous with all the comforts and toys. While all nice for sure it, it is crazy that some of these trucks are now getting over $100k here in Canada.

I can tell you that if you’re driving and not paying attention the cruise control feature is amazing. I have a Ford F150 platinum. It will drive itself. And if I need to check a text message or grab some thing in my truck where I can’t get full attention to the road it’s great. Also it really allows you to relax on long drives with winding roads
Super Cruise Feature would be great for long trip. I drive to Houston often and I drive down highways/interstates that are hundreds of miles long. This would make that trip much easier
Also, being the premium version I would of expected some kind of rear seat screen. I have a Yukon Denali and the only thing that keeps me sane on road trips is the AV stuff the kids have access to in the middle seats! Only having a USB-C, and USB doesn't really carry a "Premium" label. At least in my opinion.
I agree my 2019 Nissan Platinum has 110 in the rear seats as well as usb. 10 year bumper to bumper warranty also. This is a beauty, 20k more than a Platinum Titan? No way.
You aren’t wrong. My brother has a 2021 Laramie addition and I absolutely love the interior! We have a 2017 Sierra Denali and will be trading it in soon for one of these new Denali’s. Interior on these news one is nice but probably not as nice as the Ram
This may very well knock Ram 1500 off the best interior. Ram still has a VERY nice interior but people are getting accustom to it already and are expecting the next WOW factor. Denali I think just got the WOW factor here.
Yeah it sucks that GM is still not offering panoramic sunroofs on their trucks despite all their major competitors offering it. Even Toyota got with the program after not offering one for years
I like having a sunroof, I live in Arizona and right now the temperature is great . I don’t have to use the a/c right now and enjoy the tilt feature it’s quiet compared to a window being down.

Great review! I had a 2018 1500 denali and have the 2020 2500 SLT now and this interior is a huge step up. It has almost become too luxurious. Beautiful. I will never like power running boards or the multipro tailgate (too many things collect in the gaps)
So to answer the questions... The panoramic roof is a must although I rarely open mine I love seeing the stars and looking out it at night.. and the super cruise well I don't own a gm but on Tesla basically any long trip prop up a laptop find a good movie makes trips so much easier..
I use "self drive" constantly, alot more then I thought I would. Still keep my hand on the wheel for the most part. But it is a game changer when looking down for something or grabbing sunglasses, etc. Feel a lot safer to glance away from the road.
I have the Panoramic sunroof in my Ram 1500. I’m with you JD. It just had it when I bought it. Not something I sought after. I love having it when I feel like bringing in more light, which, isn’t that often. Typically longer trips. Most of the time, I have it all closed up. Sun is just too hot most days and not looking to have a super bright cab all the time. It’s never opened up in the winter and hail makes me anxious lol. I wouldn’t bother with them if I have the choice. Just my experience with it. Knock on wood, no repairs or failures yet. That’s another aspect to consider…
13:30 - you meant to say "column" shifter... caught that error several times. OOPS. HD trucks for sure need a column shifter. It's also VERY CONVENIENT having the tow/haul mode button on the tip of the column shifter on my Silverado 3500HD Dually.
I have a Cadillac ct6, I live in Missouri. The hands free trips to Colorado are a game changer. Decreases fatigue, you actually get out after 8 hours feeling refreshed. Gm also said this new version will tow also, after the trailer details are entered into the truck.
Love the new interior, not a fan of the console shifter on a full size truck but its not a deal breaker, just personal preference. Maybe when its time to upgrade in a few years I'll take another look at a Denali, loved my '16.
Thanks for the thorough review. Looks like a nice vehicle. I have never used my sunroof even once since purchasing my Chevy Avalanche in 2013. Speaking of which, at the risk of being a bore, GM made a big mistake discontinuing the Avalanche. The waxy frame coating is failing and while the body panels look great, the frame looks awful. Treating the rust, that damn coating just gets in the way.
I have 25 years as a Chevy Service advisor. So many customers wish for the return of the Avalanche. We still service a handful, but here in NH with rust, most of them rotted out.
The biggest question for me is it reliable transmission engine all of that technology that’s what’s important to me especially for the money you’re spending on these trucks
Ditch the sun roof and put air vents in the rear seat head bump area. Also controls back there for the hvac would be nice… always a battle between front seat riders and back seat riders with temp. I mean everybody else has been doing this for years. Nice looking truck though.
I’m so glad GM sweated the small details and finally updated their interior. The design team knocked it out of the park on these 2022 models. Larger screens and HUD.. Even the little animation unique to ‘ultimate’ trim level; well done 👏
I wish GM would have the Back seat recline a small bit, on long trips it is not comfortable for family sitting in the back, the back support is to straight. Also why can’t the rear window role down WTH it is about time what are we waiting for

The GMC Denali 2500 has been my dream truck but I never pulled the trigger to purchase because the interior was not up to par. I have a 2022 Yukon Denali diesel version on order for my wife and when the Denali 2500 comes out I will be ordering that. The interior is exactly what I’ve always wanted. Price tag for my wife’s Yukon 85k. And I’m assuming the 2500 will be about the same. I’ve been waiting years and it’s almost time. I can’t wait!

it is absolutely beautiful ❤️. GM has done it with the interior of these vehicles. I absolutely love the steering wheels! Because of my disability, I have to have a 4 prong steering wheel so that I can drive. The steering wheel on the Cadillac Escalade is not a vehicle that I could have just because of the steering wheel. It is that hidious 3 prong steering wheel that everyone in the auto industry is going through. Thankfully maybe GM will keep these steering wheels long enough until I can afford one. I may have to keep my 2010 Cadillac Escalade until I die. It has the type of steering wheel that I can drive with! I love GM VEHICLES!

I have used a sunroof in my current truck less than 5 times. I'd rather NOT have a sunroof and have a quieter interior. Big miss on not having a power port in the backseat area. The 2021 Sierra Denali has a wireless charge spot for your phone to rest. As tricked out as this one is, I must assume it has the same feature. Hopefully they have a way to turn off that super cruise stuff. I don't like my phone nor my vehicle watching me. Hell, I'd get rid of that option if we can order the truck without super cruise. Overall, this Denali Ultimate might be at the top of my short list. Not overly impressed by any of the other trucks out there. This one is almost perfect....I said ALMOST.

killer interior. i pick up my 2022 3500 DRW on Thursday - wish the HD got the overhaul like the half ton this year. my parking sensors turn off on my '19 when i plug in the trailer.... another carry over from another model is the radio control near the gear shifter. our XT4 has the radio controls right near the gear shifter - super comfortable and convenient.
Wow, nice truck! The severely outdated plasticky interior was the only thing that stopped me from buying the Denali this year and went with a '21 Ford F150. If this was out then, I would've bought it. Guess I'll be looking to trade for one of these in the next year or so. Very nice
I ordered my 2022 F450 8 weeks ago and specifically did not get the sun roof, I agree, I open my current one maybe 2 days in early spring and another 2 days in the fall, other then that it stays closed. Not worth my money or any risk of a failure or worse, a leak.
I open mine literally everyday, even when it’s 20F outside. I only buy a Toyota’s(I’ve had 10) and I’ve never had one leak. These aren’t new either (my Land Cruiser is 21 years old).

That’s a great truck with a beautiful interior. I hope that carries over to the HDs. I’m anti sunroof. I open it when I buy it to make sure it works and never again.
Sunroofs are great for kids in a car wash, but they are also great for anyone who lives where it gets hot in the summer. South Texas gets pretty hot in August. The first thing I do when getting in a hot vehicle in the summer is open the sunroof and all the windows. If possible I open an opposite side door too. This helps to get the super heated hot air out. But also, just popping the top up when parked on a hot day can give an outlet for air movement. Of course on the nice days, it's fun to roll with it open and windows down, but I use a sun roof at LEAST weekly. Do I NEED it? No. But to NOT have it on the tip top trim level is bad. Same for some of the other features. I wouldn't expect it on the lowest trim, but as an option on any trim seems to be the trend.
On my Denali HD my sunroof is open more than it's not, if you crack the sliding rear window, it's like you have all the windows down without the cross wind.
I'd be scared to scratch it up and actually use it for work. Very nice upgrade for the interior though, they are finally catching up to Dodge/ford's interior
I feel like this is the truck Toyota wishes they built. Im far from being a GM guy but I think they knocked the design out of the park. Looks really classy.
I have a Cadillac Escalade with Super Cruise, I use everyday, I love it. By the way, my wife prefers Super Cruise driving than me, she says Super Cruise is more careful than me.

I'm on the list to get one when they are available. It will be my 4th Sierra Denali. I am eagerly anticipating it. The first thing I do when I start my truck is toggle off the stupid auto-shut off. I didn't see that option on the toggle bank- I hope we didn't lose the ability to override that! Second. I was hoping to finally have a place to store my sunglasses in the overhead console. Come-on GMC! Please- someday? Otherwise, absolutely beautiful!

Thank god they improved their interior. Those small touch screens were so cheesey for an expensive truck like this. Also switching the the shifter from the steering column to the center console just looks and feels better. But I will probably never get one bc I would rather spend the money on a house. And as far as sunroofs go, I only open mine on a nice summer night. It’s too hot during the day and too cold in the winter.

I think the seats in my Ram Limited are nicer. Plus the reclining and cooled rear seats are way nicer. Also the air suspension is awesome.

The column shifter has not been physically enabled for a long time.Its fully electronic for several years.
I caught this mistake as well. Called the "column" shifter a "console" shifter.

Im kind Disappointed of this $80,000 you should get more bigger sunroof and Air conditioning seat for the Rear seat Recline back seat to look at the Ram 1500 limited look they give you alot of Truck

I have used a sunroof in my current truck less than 5 times. I'd rather NOT have a sunroof and have a quieter interior. Big miss on not having a power port in the backseat area. The 2021 Sierra Denali has a wireless charge spot for your phone to rest. As tricked out as this one is, I must assume it has the same feature. Hopefully they have a way to turn off that super cruise stuff. I don't like my phone nor my vehicle watching me. Hell, I'd get rid of that option if we can order the truck without super cruise. Overall, this Denali Ultimate might be at the top of my short list. Not overly impressed by any of the other trucks out there. This one is almost perfect....I said ALMOST.
I agree on the power ports…how the heck does a truck like this not have all the bells and whistles?

my parking sensors turn off on my '19 when i plug in the trailer....
another carry over from another model is the radio control near the gear shifter. our XT4 has the radio controls right near the gear shifter - super comfortable and convenient.
I'm going to wait until the 3500 at4 gets this interior

Wow, nice truck! The severely outdated plasticky interior was the only thing that stopped me from buying the Denali this year and went with a '21 Ford F150. If this was out then, I would've bought it. Guess I'll be looking to trade for one of these in the next year or so. Very nice

I ordered my 2022 F450 8 weeks ago and specifically did not get the sun roof, I agree, I open my current one maybe 2 days in early spring and another 2 days in the fall, other then that it stays closed. Not worth my money or any risk of a failure or worse, a leak.
I open mine literally everyday, even when it’s 20F outside. I only buy a Toyota’s(I’ve had 10) and I’ve never had one leak. These aren’t new either (my Land Cruiser is 21 years old).

Still have them God awful mirrors. Mirrors need to be in the window corner not in the door panel. The 90's called and they want their mirrors back

Sunroofs are great for kids in a car wash, but they are also great for anyone who lives where it gets hot in the summer. South Texas gets pretty hot in August. The first thing I do when getting in a hot vehicle in the summer is open the sunroof and all the windows. If possible I open an opposite side door too. This helps to get the super heated hot air out. But also, just popping the top up when parked on a hot day can give an outlet for air movement. Of course on the nice days, it's fun to roll with it open and windows down, but I use a sun roof at LEAST weekly. Do I NEED it? No. But to NOT have it on the tip top trim level is bad. Same for some of the other features. I wouldn't expect it on the lowest trim, but as an option on any trim seems to be the trend.
Waiting on a salvage title ones where all those features don’t work but got damn it’s a ultimate Denali lol 😆
On my Denali HD my sunroof is open more than it's not, if you crack the sliding rear window, it's like you have all the windows down without the cross wind.
I am a Ford guy that said these are THE BEST looking trucks on the planet.

I'd be scared to scratch it up and actually use it for work. Very nice upgrade for the interior though, they are finally catching up to Dodge/ford's interior
I feel like this is the truck Toyota wishes they built. Im far from being a GM guy but I think they knocked the design out of the park. Looks really classy.

I have a Cadillac Escalade with Super Cruise, I use everyday, I love it. By the way, my wife prefers Super Cruise driving than me, she says Super Cruise is more careful than me.

It is a nice truck but most folks will not be able to enjoy it due to it's high sticker price. I'd say at least $60 at a minimum for it.

@@jamesbass9797 Actually you wouldn't lose anything right now because there is a shortage of vehicles. Depends on how fast normal supply is restored, if ever. My used 2016 F-150 that I paid $30,000 for pre-pandemic is now worth about $33,000 even with 8000 additional miles.

I'm on the list to get one when they are available. It will be my 4th Sierra Denali. I am eagerly anticipating it. The first thing I do when I start my truck is toggle off the stupid auto-shut off. I didn't see that option on the toggle bank- I hope we didn't lose the ability to override that! Second. I was hoping to finally have a place to store my sunglasses in the overhead console. Come-on GMC! Please- someday? Otherwise, absolutely beautiful!

Needs vented rear seats. Surprised gm and Ford haven’t picked that up yet.
They just recently went back to having rear ac vents. It will probably take them another 10 years for vented rear seats.
Did the GM "engineers" fix the problem with the tailgate down and unfolded not hitting the tow ball?
Thank god they improved their interior. Those small touch screens were so cheesey for an expensive truck like this. Also switching the the shifter from the steering column to the center console just looks and feels better. But I will probably never get one bc I would rather spend the money on a house. And as far as sunroofs go, I only open mine on a nice summer night. It’s too hot during the day and too cold in the winter.
