Duik Ángela is here, and I've got the complete guide to help you start rigging and animating characters in After Effects! Character rigging and animation is a complicated subject that takes a lot of practice to get the hang of, which is why it's so important that you really understand what you're doing before you start. Fortunately, I've created this complete beginner's guide to rigging and animating your first character using Duik Ángela. You're going to learn what kinds of considerations you need to make when designing a character for rigging, how to build a skeleton using Duik's bones system, how to automatically rig the character with Duik's auto-rig feature, the best way to clean up your rigged comp for easy access to only the controls you need, and how to use Duik's auto walk and run cycles feature to animate your character. It's a lot, but it's all here. I promise that once you're done watching this tutorial you'll have a firm grasp on everything you need to rig and animate your own characters in After Effects.

What's your favorite new feature of Duik? What else do you want to know about?
I think the Morph tool is going to be VERY slept on. I actually bought the full tutorial for Angela from RX and the potential for the morph tool is massive. Would love to see your take on what that tool can do.
The animation library and the non-linear animation!
Key Morph!
Honestly, any DUIK tutorials are highly welcomed!
Is it possible to create just a head rig with duik Angela
I'm not even 5 minutes in yet, and I can tell how much love went into this tutorial just by the way the character is segmented and labeled in a nice little visual animation just for the audience.
No no, just for you.
I have not even finished the intro... the feeling is the same
@@jangonauta I have not even opened UA-cam yet... feeling the same.
You explain everything so well and leave no detail loose! Thank you!
Another fantastic tutorial on Duik! thank you, Jake. We appreciate the work you put into these tutorials.
Thanks for making so much great content! Your videos are always super clear and I learn a ton. I'm excited to try this new version of Duik
Jake, you're amazing!! every second of this video is worth it. Thank you!!
This was the best DUIK and character tutorial I ever watched. Thank you so much!
What an incredible tutorial! I spent so much time going through it and I will be coming back to it until I have it mastered. Thank you!
@JakeInMotion
Awesome job! This is by far the best Duik tutorial I've ever watched. You have answered all of my questions in detail. I see that there had been a lot of prep going into the content and the flow of the tutorial. Very well done, Jake. Keep up the great work.
Just finished it, great explanation of the main features and practical examples, really appreciate it. thanks a lot Jake!
Man, you are the king! I'm a big fan of your tutorials, this one is so easy to catch up, pace of your narrative is just perfect! Thank you!
Jake this is an absolute killer tutorial! Thanks so much. This is exactly what I was looking for to get started with DUIK. You are a great teacher!
From workspace setup to animating. This is a true beginner friendly tutorial. Thank you
Every time I watch a video of yours, Jake, I learn so much more than just the subject of the video, like shortcuts, workflow, organisation, etc. The knowledge and resources you impart are invaluable, and I am incredibly grateful. Thank you!
Thank you for this tutorial! It was very instructive! Just got started on Duik and I already love it!

Thanks for such a detailed tutorial! 😍
I look forward to your lessons on Duik Angela!☺
Thank you jake for updating us. From 2 years I watched almost all your After effect tutorials, And in every tutorial I have learnt something new. Highly Appreciated Dude! 🤩
i don't think i can even begin to explain to you how useful this tutorial is, i've just learned more things in one hour than i did in the past few months. THANK YOU!
This is one of the best tutorials I have seen it was so easy to follow and so well made, thank you so much
Wow, this is very thorough yet very concise, I've learn lot of things, but I never saw anything like it. Amazing amazing
This was excellent!! So well-explained. I feel confident I can do this!
Auto-positioning bone structures was also present in Duik Bassel . Great guide anyway, I am thinking about transitioning to Angela for some time now and this really helps. Thanks Jake!
The Time spend on this tutorial is realy worth it!
Might be the best tutorial I´ve seen in a while!
Thank you for sharing your expertise!
this is really amazing and as always Jake did an amazing job teaching us
this has been soooo helpful. i was wasting a ton of time with a clunky workflow. this has been super helpful
DUIK DUDE! This is brilliant Jake!!! Thanks so much for sharing all your skills with the motion community and keeping us informed 🙌💪
You're the best, Logan!
GREAT tutorial as always, thanks Jake!
Thank you Jack for sharing and explaning new features of DUİK :))
This has been such an eye opening video. I was dreading trying to learn this but this is such a comfortable way to get started! Amazing video. Absolute legend.
I have no words to express that how much this tutorial has helped me. My client is sitting on my ass for some mascot animations and Jake thanks a ton for this tutorial. Love from India
This is super useful and well produced, thank you so much
This is the most useful rigging tutorial I have ever seen, thank you!
what a high quality tutorial as always. nice, ill use it religiously
Thank you for this great and very formative work. To complete this series it would be nice to have a video with character interactions while walking or running. For example jumping over obstacles or going up and down stairs. An in-depth look at the elements of the character would also be great. For example how to animate facial elements or clothes. Thanks again for your work and the hours of very detailed and enjoyable explanations.
Amazing. And using the overlays on the OCOs as a starting guide for character design is all the emojis. Chef’s kiss, fire, brain exploding, heart eyes, all of em. Thanks Jake!
👨🍳🤌🏻🔥🤯😍
Thx a lot dude, it’s was a great lesson, I learned 10x more here than a online course I bought. Congratulations by your kindness sharing this with us.
"... just like Ben Marriot would want it" made my day 😆
Gold content as always!!! Your effort is much appreciated Jake.
Thank you so much, I'm so glad to hear that 🤗
Great tutorial. Can't wait to try out some of these techniques.
Woo-Hooo! What a tutorial - Right on point without "ehms", "ooopses" and "lets seeee...one second". Brilliant - and a big Thank you!
I am always a fan of your tutorials. Very helpful for a beginner like me!
Thank you very much for sharing this content. You are undoubtedly one of the most didactic guys I've ever seen on UA-cam (and I've watched a lot of 2D and 3D tutorials).
Wow, thank you so much!
This is the coolest tutorial i've ever seen!! Really awesome!
Im just gonna leave a thank you here, added to my favorites so i can check this oer and over, it has everything in one place
I have been using DUIK Bassal for about a year now and wanted to see what was new in Angela, well I'm so glad I watched this because it turns out my professor taught us how to rig the foot wrong! Now I know I'm not crazy when I couldn't get the fancy foot controls to work haha
I use Moho for animation and rigging, but when I saw the Walk Cycle, I was convinced to make my life easier by using Duke Angela, Thanks for the tutorial.
thank you so much for this really pedagogical tuto!
JAKE you make my favorite videos. A year ago I was saying to myself "I hate After Effects" but you really keep me coming back to AE and having fun with it when i do. Even when I already know something, like DUIK, watching your videos are always compelling and give me some nice little food for thought when coming back to rigging in after effects.
Seriously I cannot express my appreciation for you and your videos enough!
I have a distinct Love/Hate relationship with After Effects, as well. Almost to the point where friends and family are wishing we would finally get it over with and just break-up.
Thank you for such a detailed tutorial. Everything is clear even with a little experience in animation;)
Excellent job! Just can't say "thank you" enough!
whenever i want to learn anything in after effects my first choice is always jake in motion.
That was cool! Very detailed explanation) Thanks for your work!
This channel is a blessing!!!! Thank you
Wohooo!! Thanks for this, Jake! 🙏

Thank you very much for the tutorial. Can not wait to use the wisdom in projects!
You're welcome! Be sure to tag me in anything you share!
Thank you Jake, this is awesome and is going to take me to the next level. I was frustrated at first, because I almost missed the ending of the video. I thought when you were saying subscribe etc. that was the end. I'm impulsive. Thank you for that extra step.
DUIK Angela jeeps getting stuck just before the auto-rig is complete. I have tried using a duplicate bird twice. I saw in help notes to flip horizontally and rig again. You gave any suggestions. I wasn't too old to learn this stuff after all, but I am too old to have patience with these systems. Please help.
Great essential guide! Thank you!
Your channel and course on skillshare is blessing
the video I was looking for. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this gem! Keep up the great work!
You have a beautiful smile!

Great tutorial for beginners! Thank you
You are super as always, thanks for the great tutorial
Thanks for the tutorial. So much details.
thanks so much, this took me from nothing to something I can use on a project
Thank you so much for this Jake! I’m studying a motion design degree (in my third and final year), but our degree teaches more of the contextual stuff vs technical skills. I’ve learnt most of my technical skills through UA-cam and have a lot more to learn. I love that yours are so easy to follow, thanks for helping me along in my journey! ❤
It’s better that way. Technology changes fast!
Awesome introduction to Duik!
best tuto i've ever seen, thank you so much
i just like and iam already subscribed... just from the intro i know it is going to be a good video! Keep it up man youre awesome
Amazing content! Thank you so much, Jake!

can't thank you enough! ♥
Amazing TUT and Script thanks jake
Thank you veryyy much! You solve my biggest problem at 19:17 !!!! Auto Parent by hold Control!
Man you just ideal tutorialist! Thank you!
hey Jake...but a good deep dive for the connector like you did that epic video on how to rig a head would be definitely AMAZINGGGG!!!!
Thanks anyways for everything
This is fantastic I must say. From the layers labeling, duplications, and keyframes. I must say I enjoyed the tutorial. I am lucky to stumble on your page less than 3 hours, but this first tutorial glued me to your page. A FAN!!!
thanks so much for all this nice tips.
Thank you Jake 👍🏼 Just what I was looking for 😊
Happy to help!
Thank you jack!!! Great great video
Thanks Jake, great tut. I’d be interested in how the key morph and connectors work. Also would be interested in how you use DUIK in a bigger scene where the character is interacting with scene/props/background. I’m a member of DUIK (and like that you mention supporting maim thru including amount in client projects) and also have bought some of their tuts but always seem to have a stumbling block in their tuts that I can’t get past or takes me a number of re-dos to get back on path. Your manner of teaching seems to not cause me any set backs. I’m able to follow along, no issue. Makes DUIK more desirable to use when I can see the ins and outs of the tool better. Thank you.
Amazing tutorial. Thank you🙏
Omg thank youuuu for this amazing semplice explication 👌👌👌🙏
Can’t thank you enough ❤
Thank you so much for this video!!!
Thanks for the very easy to follow tutorial :)
Thanks Jake!
Amazing, thanks
Excellent tutorial
