I agree with your thoughts. Book box items have been disappointing me lately as well, so I've actually went book box only on all but Owlcrate's box. Owlcrate is also definitely my fav when it comes to items. I think they are consistently trustworthy for everything from their boxes to special editions. Illumicrate is such a hit or miss box and I just skipped my next To Bee Read renewal because this one was so bad.
I’ve recently gone book only but the ones I get are Fairyloot YA and Adult boxes at the moment and they do a ton of custom stuff. It sad that they don’t put in at least a bonus gift like a bookmark but they never disappoint with their book choice.
I debated about writing these comments but after getting home from vacation and opening my box, I felt I needed to say something. I’ll start off by stating that I get the standard box (which is $45 plus shipping). I prefer this option because I get to choose my items and if I don’t like items from certain tiers, I can just get my points, which I love. The Key, this is definitely where your unboxing started with the negative comments about Litjoy. I was shocked when you said that the Hades Key wasn’t nice. This is an extremely detailed Key. The $45 Keys you are referring to include 2 or 3 charms. Is this what you meant, that the Key doesn’t come with charms?? Litjoy is selling the Poseidon key as an addon for $25 since it doesn’t come with charms. The Love Hypothesis test tube tea infuser: since this is a licensed item (“not inspired by”), it’s made to look like an actual test tube from the book. Also, if they added designs on it, it wouldn’t be safe to use as a tea infuser. Same with the book sleeve, it matches the description of the grimoire in the book. You started by saying you liked the book sleeve and then changed course after opening the key. Why?? I think it’s amazing that Litjoy is taking the time to license their products. The add on option: Litjoy includes the Keys or book alley as addons instead of going straight to the shop to give subscribers first access and free shipping. FYI, The non-subscribing Lunacorn members are in an uproar about book allies/Keys with charms going to subscribers first. $45 is not cheap and I only own a few Keys with charms, but I love the ones I have and have no regrets. That’s great that you liked everything! Everyone has there own opinion on things and what they feel they’re worth. For myself, I didn’t like the box. And in regards to the keys, I stated that I would like for them to include one of their super fancy ones with charms instead of giving us a cheaper version of the ones they’re known for. Again, all my opinion so it’s great that you enjoyed the items!
I get the same TBR box you get and it didn't blow me away. Love the pub glass. As you said, they do great pub glasses and I have several of them that they have put out. The key is nice, and the bookmark is very pretty but I won't use it as a bookmark. I won't use the book sleeve, the beeker thing, or the popsocket although the popsocket is cute. I hate those headbands because they don't stay on my head like they should I guess my head is shaped weird or something. I have many of LitJoy's keys (I have no self-control with those) but agree, they are very expensive when they are an add-on to an already expensive box. Now that their magical crates are done at the end of the year I might save money, but they are coming out with a bunch of special edition books that I'm interested in but they are very expensive. If I wasn't a Lunacorn getting discounts I wouldn't have been able to get many items they sold.

Oh man Litjoy just sucked the wind out of your sails. It started off strong with Shanghai Immortal. I am so excited for that book! It sounds awesome and that edition is amazing! Illumicrate seemed pretty nice. I love that edition of the book I hope it's good.
I'm definitely excited about Shanghai Immortal and nervous about the Illumicrate book, but it was soooo pretty. Yeah, we're just not going to talk about LitJoy anymore 😆
Fox and Lit isn’t worth it. If you don’t get any goodies and they don’t do much custom stuff. The book itself isn’t even sign rather you just get a bookplate. You send it yourself that the cover they do, isn’t better than the original. I’m struggling to see what your paying for.
I just cancelled this subscription. I was actually really excited about the headband because I’ve been buying lots if headbands recently and the headband in this Box was way too big. And there’s no way to adjust it so it’s completely useless. That was the iamb I was most excited for when I opened the box.
😭 Ugh that's so annoying that it didn't even fit! Watching the video back while editing and then going to see the spoilers for next month, I skipped the August renewal for To Bee Read. The box plus shipping for me is 85$ which made me choke when I think about the crap we got in the box. Soooooo yeah. Idk if I'll get another box or not. This one was such a bummer and not worth the price tag.
Not a fan of TBB (aka Litjoy 2.0) disappointed with my book choice it didn’t match there bk 1 in the series AT ALL but I wanted it over the Greek book choice. But seriously if you’re going to do a book 2 in the series from your book one wouldn’t you make the bk 2 match bk 1, UGH, seriously really why why not. I I billion % agree with their MONEY grabbing. I pre-paid for the year subscription and that will be it for me I am done with their box subscription.
This is EXACTLY the reason I didn't get the other book because I had a feeling they didn't think about it, and didn't match the first book they did. They should have just foregone to special changes and matched the first one. I so agree with you that it was such a bad decision to make by them. I skipped my next renewal after seeing the items. I'm going to wait until the box after (February renewal) and if I still don't like the items, I'm cancelling. It's just too expensive of a box for the items they do.
You are not clear in the way you present your book boxes.. Picture one book box at a time, Don't pile all your boxes on the couch i cannot tell what book club you are talking about..But you have a great personality..
