Yes, and the Media should've researched her amateur career properly. But, they may have purposively Lied to make her story seem..more dramatic.
It wasn't all the media, just this reporter. I was a mainstream sports reporter, and former skater. Never file a story until you've triple checked your facts.

Karen Kadavy is one of my favorite ice skaters. Her flow is very elegant and understated; very reminiscent of the old school artistry from decades ago.👏
This is as close to the Olympics as she would get. As a matter of fact after she won she said at a separate competition that she called Carlo Fassi and told him what she had done and that he had sounded as excited for that as he had for her world bronze in 1987. She even referred to these as "her Olympics". hence the smile on her face. Sometimes it takes a long time to vanquish your inner demons, but that doesn't diminish the sweetness when you finally do!
She was in the 1988 Olympics as it says. She skated the short program, but was unable to complete the Olympic competition.
I know she was in the Olympics, but I still remember the camera angles and the camera being in her hotel room as she was watching everyone else get their metals. I just meant that she was competing for the first time ever against Olympic eligible skaters so it must’ve meant something more special to her when she beat them as this was only her second or third actual professional competition. Before this she was a professional skater but she toured mostly.
Still in awe of Caryn Kadazy as a skater and person.
Awesome artistry! I can see where performing as a pro deepened her artistry, but she didn't perform any difficult triple or combo jumps, something her peers did. Caryn ended up winning this competition after a disastrous skate from Kerrigan. Otherwise I'm not sure if Caryn would have won this competition. Still tho great artistry!
lol I love Caryn, but she shouldn't be smiling at the end... especially when you listen to the lyrics :p
She can smile whenever she wants. That music sucked.
