Love Ena’s sparkly hairnet for Christmas - and you can tell when an episode was written by Tony Warren, just like you could when Jonathan Harvey wrote one. They were always pure comedic joy.
Geena Smith She first wore a hairnet in episode 5, when in hospital. In an interview given by Violet Carson many years later, she claimed that the idea of the hairnet was her own, saying: “My hair looked rather nice, you see, I've got... and still am, thank God, blessed with nice hair...and they started to pull it about. I said, 'don't you touch my hair - it costs me money to have my hair done like this'. So they said, 'What are you going to do?'. I said, 'Well, I'll put a hairnet on it.' And that is the answer to the hairnet, you see?"
Jed first appeared as a pretty nasty threatening character, yet within a few episodes he was totally transformed into a wise cracking clownish Scouse baffoon, always joking around
Tho 'we' jump in gaps from various episodes to episodes may annoy some, but for me it's like Dr Who style time travel stopping here then there known that in Coronation Street world nothing changes much does it😉.
@@alexanderjones9572 yes, that was far too young to die, I wonder what were the reasons she left Corrie, was she written out of the show or just decided she had enough and left? If she had lived I would love to have seen her return to the street years later as she had connections with Ken, she even went out with his Dad!!!
@@murphy9039 She was in her twenties here, so she’d be in her 80s now. Imagine -she could’ve teamed up with Rita and Evelyn as the new Minnie, Martha and Ena! Which would be which, tho....
It bugs me that so many of your 60s ones are getting blocked here when ITV never rerun them! If they want to stop us viewing them here and so on, why don't they just show us what they have! Grr!
Anyone else know the Beatles connection here ? The actress playing Christine Hardman was once married to Klaus Voorman, friend of the Fabs from Hamburg and designer of the Revolver cover. (Christine sits next to Annie Walker on the 'stage' with the black band and brooch round her neck.) She was a fantastic actress who died ridiculously young in the mid 80s.
Arthur Lowe's character here was so well known and loved across the country, that when he appeared on dad's Army he was simply playing his coronation street character. He Took Leonard swindley and Turned him into Captain mainwaring, ultimately this is what drove him into a deep depression and alcohol abuse. Easy money I guess, but typecast and remembered for a character that ultimately was just a reinvention of an old character, most of his best work was done prior to 1967, and he knew this, as did many other's, but he got stuck with being Captain mainwaring, which was nothing more than Leonard swindley with a different name
He did a series called Bless Me Father and Potter. The character in Bless Me Father was very different to other characters played. He was great ss Potter too.
So glad you're back, hopefully you are staying. You are amazing and we all really appreciate you. So sorry that so many of your videos are getting blocked. :/ Dailymotion channel, possibility? Do you have more episodes from early 70s? Would love to see more of them. And what are your plans at this point which episodes you are going to upload next?
Hello! Your channel is a fantastic source of Coronation Street episodes! You have quite a lot of ones I haven't managed to find on here yet! If you don't mind me asking, could you please upload 1st March and 20th September 1965, 26th June 1968, 26th January 1970 and 24th February 1971 if you have them? Thanks.
Also with your missing episodes, have you managed to find any of them yet? I have 31st May 2000 which appears to be in it's entirety. I've also found a UA-cam channel with 22nd January 2001 (ua-cam.com/video/MYrJ93AsrTY/v-deo.html). And sorry to bother you but do you only have Coronation Street? Do you have Emmerdale Farm?
26th June 1968 in the next few days... thanks for the link, but that is a partial ep (same that I have..) Does your May 31 2000 have 3 minutes of some other show in the middle (starting around 9:50)? ps - no Emmerdale
I saw Minnie Cauldwell dressed up like that before - she was in a film - not sure what it was called but i remember she was at a ball and all the ladies were dressed somewhat like she was in that play
I remember Kenneth Cope reappeared on the street around the 50th anniversary in 2010/11, but I'm not certain if it was as Jed Stone.. can anyone help to clarify?
Harry Hewitt was a Hard-core socialist and communist in real life, which seemed odd seeing as he was a well paid television actor earning about 10 times the average wage at the time and living the life of Riley. Almost polar opposite beliefs

Why did she wear those hair nets? She didn't wear them the first couple of years.

3:23 Will I Doo? Lol I LOVE Minnie Caldwell!!
Another classic. Thanks for sharing.
Eileen derbyshire wow miss that talent
5.06 Elsie's best Annie Walker impression! 😂😂😂
@Coronation Street Storyline Peter Susan Peter and Susan weren’t born until 1965 ( I’m watching the episode where they’re born now.)
Imagine if at the end of part one, when Jed said the curtain was ‘stuck’, Leonard Swindley went ‘You stupid boy...’
Jed first appeared as a pretty nasty threatening character, yet within a few episodes he was totally transformed into a wise cracking clownish Scouse baffoon, always joking around

Ok ' Land of Hope and Glory' isn't a specific Christmas tune, but why does that mean you can't play it at Christmas? I'm with Ena here!
Ty so much for uploading these episodes great fan from nz here
Lol Annie pushing tranquilizers!
Christine is a very attractive lady & a great actress, it's a pity she left the show so soon.
Even more of a pity that Christine Hargreaves died relatively young ( she was only 45) 😢😢

Dailymotion tends to block less videos of soap operas. In fact I had a load blocked and a few months ago they all got unblocked.
Use a VPN. I have no trouble viewing with a VPN.
Shane Miles what’s a VPN?
@@Sarah-z1f6c It's a proxy browser, Sarah, which hides your IP address.
You just need to imagine you’re a character. THEY don’t appear in every episode-so don’t know everything that happens except for hearsay.
Harry needs a roomier costume...
I dont think Ena would say best bit of acting Ive seen tonight with this cast of 2020!!!! or the bloody scripts!!!!

Much more entertaining than today's ridiculous storylines
Great selection of vintage episodes! Would you have episode 415 from 2nd December 1964?

Was that Sonny Jim?
was this live? I hope they all got back before the Big Freeze of 62/63 started in a days time !
18:25 a tranquilizer followed by whiskey😳😱🫣
Bring back the lurex hairnet, i say.

He did reprise the Jed Stone character upon his return to the cobbles
Please tell me the concert from later years where Ivy sings ‘My old man...’ and then tells jokes with Vera is uploaded!!
Love to think that was ad-libbing from Albert at 15.30 , but expect it was scripted.
Why do TV shows from the 60s sound crackly?
Brilliant.
By this point they had FINALLY changed up the music a little bit
These original characters are just shy of a Carry On crew.😀
Bill Roaches acting hasn't improved

The original champagne socialist, perhaps!
