This was my second “authentic” bowl of ramen. I went to Orochon Ramen a bunch of times before I went to Daikokuya. I never went back to Orochon after that first bowl at Daikokuya. The broth is amazing, and they have my favorite seasoned egg! The mini salad is always a must as well!

What must be understood about Daikokuya is that they made only ONE kind of ramen. And people lined up for 2 1/2 hours for it. You could get it kotteri style, or regular but it was only ONE ramen. Later they added other styles but what impressed me most was the mastery of it and it was like this for years... long before ramen shops started popping up everywhere especially before covid. So.. it's a bit of history there. It was that good.

One of my favorite go to places when I am in Little Tokyo. I've tried almost everything on the menu there and even been to some of the other locations. Little Tokyo is full of so many good places to eat and so many of them have been hit hard by the pandemic. It's hard to keep up with who is still open or what is new and then go through that menu there. I've only scratched the surface and I have yet to explore the Sawtelle and the Torrance area. 👍

Not sure how Daikokuya got on my algorithm but I'm not complaining. I will say Daikokuya is the best ramen I have had outside of JP. In fact, that may be even selling it short.
My only goal in life was to eat Hakata Ramen in Hakata. I did that. Been to Ramen Stadium, Ramen Museum, countless stalls. Daikokuya more than holds it's own.
