    thank you very much, it work for me. Do I have to copy and paste them in every document where I want to use them? Can I save them forever without copy and paste every time?

      Brushes in Illutrator are document based. Since there are currently no brushes libraries in Illustrator on the iPad what you could do is collect your brushes in one document in your Creative Cloud or on your iPad that you keep there permanently and copy a brush out of there when you need it. You could apply the brushes on the artboard(s) in the document so that they are easier to copy.

    Im new to illustrator so maybe this is a dumb question but why the heck would they make this so difficult?

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  11 місяців тому

      The iPad is basically a closed shop,. Downloading files from any website to a certain folder is close to impossible - particularly for a newbie. And there's nothing that any app vendor can do about that.

      @@petoctopusBecause iPad is not a desktop and the code is limited. I can only guess they’re having a difficult time coding a stable version that will work across all iPads. Adobe doesn’t seem to have it in the pipeline for future releases. Maybe it’s near impossible. iPad wasn’t originally built as a graphic device.

    How do I get my custom brush in AI on iPad to not scale to stroke to the size and length of the object/line? I’m shading a drawing using a cross hatch method with a custom brush. Some of the lines are small little lines and others are significantly longer. It’s really ruining my drawing having the longer lines be much much thicker than the shorter lines. And I can’t just shade them all with the same or close to the same length.

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  4 місяці тому

      That would only be possible with either scatter brushes or pattern brushes, but both cannot be used on the iPad. Even when they are already in the document. So your only option is to create artbrushes of different lengths, which is a rather crude workaround.

      @@Vektorgarten I don’t understand how Ai for iPad could be out this long and such a simple feature still hasn’t been added. So disappointing and frustrating.

    May I know, how to delete the brush we created ?

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  2 місяці тому

      That's a good question. I assume you want to delete it on the iPad, right? On the desktop it's not a problem. On the iPad you can edit some options, but it's not possible to delete them. Other than opening the file on the desktop version, a crude way would be to copy the artwork to a new file.

      Did you create that file (on the desktop version)? And if so: did you already create brushes from the shapes? What kind of brushes are they?

      @@Vektorgarten it’s a brush file I downloaded in .ai format that I have previously used on desktop! I’m accessing the files via creative cloud - could that be the issue?

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  2 роки тому

      @@mollymccorkle5963 So there are brushes in the file? Some of those downloads just call themselves brushes, but only contain the shapes and you still have to create the brushes. So if there actually are brushes in the brushes panel then it could still be the case that Illustrator on the iPad cannot use them. Currently it only supports calligraphy brushes and art brushes. Can you upload a screenshot of the brushes panel somewhere with all the brushes and post a link to it?

      @Vektorgarten  6 місяців тому

      The synchronising feature of Creative Cloud has been shut down. What do you have available? Dropbox or Google Drive, iCloud? If nothing helps, try sending it via e-mail to yourself and then save it on your iPad. Does that work?

    How can I open in iPad this file, which I copied from?

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  7 місяців тому

      Easiest would be to save the file as an AIC file to the Creative Cloud. You could try if you can also transfer it via Dropbox or the like to the iPad and then open it via the "Open or Import" option in Illustrator.

    how can you tell what the difference is between an art brush and a scattered brush?

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  2 роки тому +2

      They behave differently. Art brushes stretch the brush shape along the path (think of a paint stroke that winds just like the curve does). Scatter brushes scatter the brush shape around the path (think of stars that are sprinkled along and around the path, often using randomization). They also look differently in Illustrator's brushes panel. Does that help?

      @@VektorgartenSo which one is supported and which one is not? I imported a set and Illustrator on iPad named the brushset “Document” but the preview for each brush looks nothing like the sample brushes contained on the canvas. I have some gritty inky brushes that although the preview doesn’t match, they work. But the stipple brushes don’t work at all. Worst of all, I found you can’t apply the brushes I downloaded to shapes from the shape tool using the Properties panel. If I draw a circle using the circle tool and go to the Properties panel, the brush stroke menu only contains default brush styles. My downloaded brushes aren’t available. 😢

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  4 місяці тому

      @@sadepennbrook Stipple brushes are usually scatter brushes. They are not supported on the iPad and neither are pattern brushes. Document based brushes should be available in the Properties panel inside the document they live in. But only if they are supported.
