it's funny because if you've lived at altitude for a while you don't even notice it, but it's definitely an issue if you are coming up from around sea level.
Lived in Colorado my whole life. You actually notice an opposite effect when you go down to sea level. You feel way more energized than normal cause your body is used to having less oxygen and now has more than it’s used to.
I’m a local, I haven’t watched the video. But it’s probably about: 1. Altitude sickness (been there a couple times when I was a kid. Drinking water helps) 2. Less oxygen 3. It’s dry (semi-arid)
the rockies' home field advantage is not outweighed by the fact pitchers don't wanna be here and let the batters essentially get 10% bonus power and fuck up their stats
I still remember when I came back to Colorado from vacation as a kid. The altitude caused my body to cramp up and it felt like I was being tased every second, shits no joke
For perspective, the average NFL Stadium height is 581.63 feet. Without Mile High it goes all the way down to 419.6. The second highest is the Arizona stadium at only 1070 feet
I lived around New Orleans. at or below sea level my whole life. I took a job in denver and it actually took me months before I stopped noticing shortness of breath. Worse than the altitude (as a non-pro athlete) was the lack of humidity that got to me. I was so dry
Is no one going to talk about the kicking advantage? The Broncos have had some of the most elite kickers of all time with 2/5 longest kicks in history happening at mile high
Worth looking into the Bolivian national soccer team. They play their home games at 14000 feet, they’ve won one road game in World Cup qualifying in ~25 years but a winning record at home.
I took my soccer squad to nationals a few years back, it was held in Colorado. Within 30 minutes of jogging around and warming up 4 of our best players including me nearly had to get hospitalized for life threatening levels of oxygen. I was the worst and had 79%. Worst headache of my life and I felt like I was gonna die. We were the best team in Georgia, but there we were nothing. Lost all but 1 game. And looking at the leader board after . In EVERY SINGLE AGE GROUP the Colorado home teams won the tournament.
Pump the brakes lol one decent year. That’s all they have had in the last 10. Using you’re logic the 2016 raiders should’ve dominated the airwaves for national games lol
@FsSn1pEz I'm not pumping shit. The Broncos are historically a winning franchise, these last 10 years were an anomaly. They have their coach and qb, they are going to build this roster and win a bunch of games.
There is not 17 percent less oxygen in Denver. That would mean that there is only 4% O2. The truth is that there is actually 21% (same as at sea level) but the partial pressure is equivalent to about 17% . Commercial airliners are pressurized to an equivalent of around 8000 feet (of altitude) when they pressurize the aircraft, they do not take any oxygen out but the partial pressure is around 15%.
ye oxygen is the same, but the pressure into our lungs is less. also this guy had sickle cell trait, already enough to be drastic by itself. , 5k isn't that extreme compared to elsewhere.
First time I came to Breckenridge Colorado with my family for a trip we were straying in an air b & for a week.. I couldnt hardly do anything because of altitude sickness .. I just stayed in the hot tub and listened to podcasts and smoked the vape.. looking back that’s probably why I didn’t feel good because I was smoking the vape and taking oxygen out of my lungs.. but regardless I wasn’t used to the lack of oxygen
Its because Elway couldn’t draft good QBs or offensive skill positions if his life depended on it, our head coaches were terrible, and organizational incompetence set us back with terrible moves like passing on Kyle Shanahan for Vance Joseph
I live about three hours south of Denver in a small town with even higher elevation so the altitude in Denver really doesn’t bother me but my aunt lives in California and if she stays here too long it starts to get to her a little bit
Wait until you hear about how bad it is facing Bolivia in El Alto. They are quite bad in away games but make them play in either El Alto or La Paz, they'll look like 2008-09 FC Barcelona.
Strange to see a video about something I thought was common knowledge. Maybe that’s what I get for living in colorado my whole life ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Great video!

Ngl lie mate, that is the whole point of this video
@@yearlyrookie914whyd u say ngl and then lie after that 😂😂
Have you ever gone down to sea level and realized what a difference your extra red blood cells make? You'd notice it then, for sure.
I grew up in Denver but moved out of state 15 years ago. When I came back to visit 10 years later I didn’t feel much of a difference lol
Congratulations you figured out the entire point of the video.

Meanwhile the batters absolutely love it even for the opposing team cause they boost their stats up
Great piece on sports in high altitude. Mile high is no joke. Keep up the good work Evan!

Kickers love it though because they can hit field goals that is out of their normal range. A lot of the records for field goals happened in Denver.

moved from baton rouge to denver years ago, and every time i go back i feel like i can run forever

America is going to have to get used to watching a lot of national games in Denver. The Broncos are the truth
I will never Bolieve.

I just went from Portland to Colorado to visit family and got altitude sickness haha
As a Denver native I can easily see the problems of this hiking is hard especially here where the mountains can reach 14000+ ft
Also when Denver teams go down to sea level places they have more red blood cells due to the altitude in Denver and coming down increases performance
Well done and informative.
During certain points of the year of the bills have easily the second most home feel advantage

17% less than normal oxygen is about 17.9% not 4%

Its not mile high stadium. That stadium was torn down in 2001. Mile high is a parking lot next to empower field.
Should do one on the Mexican National Teams advantage at Estadio Azteca
I remember Philip Rivers was only player who loves playing in Denver. He usually has a noodle arm. In Denver you can throw farther than any fields.
This doesn’t explain why the we (the broncos) were so bad during the dark ages of Denver
Its because Elway couldn’t draft good QBs or offensive skill positions if his life depended on it, our head coaches were terrible, and organizational incompetence set us back with terrible moves like passing on Kyle Shanahan for Vance Joseph
@ that’s also why
great video. would have assumed you had more subs/views!
The Arizona Cardinals used to summer camp in flagstaff at 7000K feet, 2000 feet higher than denver. they shouldn't have stopped, look at them now.
i've seen nfl guys starting wearing oxgyen maskss at sealevel too.
I live about three hours south of Denver in a small town with even higher elevation so the altitude in Denver really doesn’t bother me but my aunt lives in California and if she stays here too long it starts to get to her a little bit
And don't eff around and have a drink there. Denver (and Albuquerque) were always crazy sketchy nights lol

5280 Feet Baby...Welcome To Mile High
Being up a mile is not that high of altitude.
It is for people that live at sea level
“In just 20 years of existence” wtf?
That was in reference to Empower Field, which was built in 2001, roughly 20 years ago. Should have been clearer on that, sorry!
@Before-The-Snap oh that makes sense. Sorry for my own brain flab!
Why while I was watching this my ears were popping
Denver teams... hate playing in Denver.
they train in denver...
Miami dolphins have the worst home field advantage ever
it’s funny… where I’m from, it’s 7000 feet
I live at 7000ft in SW Colorado
Thankfully for me I live in the red state of Colorado.
Colorado hasn’t been red in decades?
@@KyleV00Colorado has some red counties
@@dubbyu4286 Obviously, I wish I lived in one. But unfortunately the state is still a blue state.
