@@musiccecilia7754 As much as I wish Eivor was Norwegian, she is from the Faroe Islands. But an amazing artist!
Try "Undercover" by Susanne Sundfør ua-cam.com/video/A-uRyOu4YV4/v-deo.html a song full of emotions.
There are many fantastic Norwegian artists, and much can probably be due to the fact that we have a school system that gives children the opportunity to test and play with music without great demands.
"Sissel", Sissel Kyrkjebø, is also a Norwegian crossover artist you should try out. She has been a Norwegian national treasure for several decades.
This ua-cam.com/video/EFe84U__kt8/v-deo.html is in my opinion a masterpiece ..
Your pronunciation of Susanne's name was very good, but I'm excited to hear Sissel's last name, it's Norwegians who struggle with it.

The RIVER (but ofc, all W & W's knows that 😘) And looking really good 😍
This is such an emotional song, touching an extremely important subject. And it gets me every time. I really recommend the documentary "Self Portraits". But a WARNING it is not for the faint of heart.
Btw. Susanne is the one sitting beside Lenes bed in hospital, and hugging her mother in the hallway. So she was invested in this documentary on several levels.... which makes the song even more mindblowing.

@@musiccecilia7754 that’s really great:) never heard about IPA before. (Other than the beer)
I was suprised you had such a strong R like they say in Bergen.
It’s almost German sounding but Germany and Bergen (Norway) had lots of connections as it was a shipping harbour many centuries ago and ships would come from Germany all the time which also affected the accent/dialect.
Im a singer too, well not professionally though. Im a 1 alt in a choir so I bet you sing higher as an opera singer.

@@mari97216 I sang alto in choir in undergrad! (my high notes were too loud to do soprano and I couldn't blend lol) but I loved singing alto, It made me a stronger sight reader. So glad to hear that you sing as well! IPA is the International Phonetic Alphabet, it helps with learning how to pronounce other languages by creating symbols that basically can be read and applied to any of them, that tell you how to say certain things. I am much more well versed in German diction though, which would make sense that it sounds a little German. lol I do my best. The two languages are similar in many ways! So glad that I was able to do the beautiful name justice and I for Sure want to react more to this beautiful artist in the future!

    • @mari97216
      @mari97216 2 роки тому

@@musiccecilia7754 oh, my problem is the opposite. I like singing high but it’s not as strong. I guess that’s why I’m an first alt now. (We have first and second alt and first and second soprano. I think they divide it different or call it something different other places).
I would prefer to be a second soprano but I’m just gonna roll with it, I recently started up. It’s just more difficult to do the harmony voice on it all, plus the sopranos have more of the song to sing, not just the back up vocals. It’s fun either way though:)
Sounds interesting to learn IPA, useful:) btw Lene Marie Fossen, not that you will bump into her more. You say Len and then the E is like the E in energy. I think the other two names sounded about right. So if you bump into more norwegians that’s usually (probably always) how the e will sound.
It does have many of the same words as in German. It’s really a mix of English, Swedish, Danish, and some German. And a few foreign borrowed words like Sofa.

This song and video breaks me every time. Thought provoking, deep, sad and hauntingly beautiful.
If I may recommend another Norwegian artist here it would be Sivert Høyem (lead singer of Norwegian band Madrugada) and his song "Prisoner of the Road", released in 2010 for the Norwegian Refugee Council. ua-cam.com/video/c-0jy3iCB8U/v-deo.html

Susanne Sundfør´s "music for people in trouble", might be something you would like. It would be interesting to hear you react to the entire piece of art that record is- To me Susanne is closing in on my all time favorite Joni Mitchel every year, her talent seems unlimited

Hi there, Can you react to Angelina Jordan - How Great Thou Art. Angelina is not only Norway's biggest treasure now but she's becoming global star like no one before.
If this performance by Angelina doesn't heal anyone's soul then there's no hope... she's that good!!!
