    I got the diamond 9.6. It sounds superb. Mid and highs are fantastic. My old speakers are Tannoy Mercury M4. This diamond 9.6 is heaps better. I was eyeing the Tannoy XT8F until I saw a 9.6 selling 6 times cheaper. I wonder how is it better than the 9.6.😊

      I have both - brand new XT8F's and second hand Diamonds 9.6. I paid 750 GBP (it was a bargain price at Peter Tyson) for Tannoys and around 120 pounds fo Diamonds, and I think I have overpaid in the second case. Muddy, muffled, flat (bas wise) sound, lacking dynamics from Wharfedale. I love the looks of these speakers but sound is awful in my opinion. Revolution XT8F is in a completely different league. Bass is better, treble is better, mids are better, imaging is much better. And the dynamics - it is better also. I run both pairs with Yamaha A-S 1100. Honestly - I think that Diamonds 9.1 are way better than 9.6.

    Hi, thanks for video. i'll buy Wharfedale Diamond 9.6 or Q Acoustic 3050. Which one better in your opinion? They are same price in here. Thanks for advice.

    • @blueboyblue
      @blueboyblue  5 років тому

      Sorry, I didn't see you post until now. The Diamond are better speakers with deeper bass, but the Q Acoustic 3050 are also very good speakers with not quite the bass depth, but the bass does sound very good. So, I wouldn't say No to either one. The Diamond 9.6 have TWO 8" (200mm) bass drivers each. The Q Acoustic 3050 have TWO 6.5" Bass drivers each. There are equivalent Wharfedale Diamond speakers that have 2x6.5" or 2x6.5"+Midrange. These would probably be cheaper if you can find them.

    I listenned to this and the Q3050 a few times on my sony 🎧 . I may not be using the right words to describe this. I feel the vocals in the 9.6 are more forward and slightly piercing at times. For instance, when the singer raises his voice singing "my heart", the sound is ear piercing. And in Q3050, I can hear him raise his voice but it is not ear piercing. Do you get it? Why is it like that?

      UA-cam videos emphasize the Mid/High and de-emphasize Bass, so perhaps that is what you are hearing. Both are actually pretty mellow speakers. Not lacking in Mid/High, but not as emphasized as UA-cam videos make them seem.

    Hi! These sound pretty good. Would you think an Onkyo TX 8140, 80 watts per channel, would drive 'em well? Or are they power hungry to sound like this? I found a pair for a good price but I'm worried about my reciever. Thanks so much

    • @blueboyblue

      Not Power Hungry, they have a relatively high efficiency rating and I have easily driven them with a 50w/ch Onkyo.

      DALI is a solid company, and if you like those particular speakers, I don't think you will be disappointed.

    Hello. I really liked your setup. I have a pair of Wharfedale Evo 4.2 and I was looking and amp to match them. Do you believe that, by the sound signature of the Rotel A-11 or A-11 Tribute, that would be a good match? Thanks!!

    • @blueboyblue
      @blueboyblue  3 роки тому +1

      Generally, I think that is an OK amp. The Rotel are fairly neutral, so should works well. Though it will depend on your personal taste. The A11 Tribute is about 50w/ch, not high powered, but it should be fine. Looking at UK prices, it is about £499. USA about $799, that's a lot of money.

      www.audioadvice.com/rotel-a11-tribute-50-watt-stereo-integrated-amplifier.html
      You might want to consider the more powerful and with more features, the Yamaha Amps -

      www.crutchfield.com/p_022AS801S/Yamaha-A-S801-Silver.html
      If you want an amp packed with features, then consider the Yamaha RN803 with Network Streaming, Room-EQ, and Full Bass Management.
      www.crutchfield.com/p_022RN803/Yamaha-R-N803.html
      Rotel are definitely good quality amps, but the Yamaha are still good amps and very high value.

I've been looking at prices where I live (Spain) and I've found the Rotel A11 Tribute for 500€, so I think it's a good price. I have about 9.6 very happy with them but that my receiver YAMAHA R-S700 did not get the best out of them, for lack of power, and I have them connected with a CERWIN-VEGA CV-1800 and now they sound better.

    • @jamocerwin5841
      @jamocerwin5841 3 роки тому

      @@blueboyblue So it is, but the 9.6 are really hard, and to move them with ease they need more watts. It's also not that I put the amplifier to the full, but with less volume now they take more detail and give them new life. Although one day I turn up the volume quite a bit and the 9.6 doesn't distort anything. The Cerwin has more than twice the power of the R-s700, I've never maxed it out and I don't know if they'd last 9.6, but it seems pretty yes. Very good speakers, greetings.

      The Rotel RA-1570 is a very good amp, highly rated. Mine works flawlessly. It has a DAC with several digital inputs, a Phono In, and Pre-amp Out which can also be used as Sub out. For the money I paid ($1500) I'm very satisfied. Though there are amps for more money that I would prefer. But for what I paid, I'm satisfied.

    Thx for your videos, I really like the 9.6 but the 10.7's are easily available now at a good price however would they sound the same since the drivers are only 6.5"? Would you replace your 9.6 with a 10.7? Or maybe the 250 is the better equivalent...

    • @blueboyblue
      @blueboyblue  7 років тому

      I have considered buying the Diamond 10.7, but even at the new low price (limited supplies) it is still too much for me to justify. Besides, you can now get the Diamond 250 (2x8") though the price has gone up a bit -

      I am concerned with the 10.7 since I don't believe with 6.5"s I will get the rich lower registers the 9.6 have with the 8"s (as demonstrated in your comparison videos). The 250s are still too much to pay for. You certainly got an amazing deal for the 9.6s, used they still cost more...

    How much sound difference between diamond 9.5 and 9.6?8.4 and 9.5 difference is very big but I listened on youtube 9.5 and 9.6 sounds very close to me..Like same color and same quality...Whats ur opinion?

    • @blueboyblue
      @blueboyblue  5 років тому +1

      I think it all depends on the size of the room. While my room may not be very wide, but it is 35ft long, so I have plenty of space for the speakers to play into. I suspect the general sound signature is going to be the same on the various models, but the bigger and more bass drivers, the more impact and sense of bass you will find. Keep in mind, that many people have the 10.1 and the 10.2 (9.1/9.2) bookshelf speakers and are overjoyed with them. So, you get speakers in proportion to you room and your particular needs.

      @@ozgreeny - - Not familiar with the Atlantic, but the Diamond-Series are Wharfedale's Bread and Butter. These are the high volume sellers and highly rated speakers. Unless I am mistaken, the Diamond 9.5 have 2x6.5" bass drivers and the 9.5 have 2x8" bass drivers. For most people in most rooms 2x6.5" is more than enough. I would speculate, though I don't know for sure, that the Atlantic is a lower series than the Diamond.

      That's a bargain. The Diamond 9.6 are good speakers, but they are big speakers - 2x8" bass drivers and 44" tall. These speaker originally retailed for about $1000/pr. So, if they are in good shape and you can trust the seller, ($£€)350/pr is a real bargain.

      @blueboyblue  2 роки тому

      The Wharfedale Speakers originally sold for about US$1,000/pr. Subsequent generations sold for about $1,500/pr. I'm not sure they have an equivalent 8" model in the current line up though. The nearest equivalent in the current Diamond series would be the Diamond 12.4 which have TWO 6.5" Bass drivers each instead of TWO 8". Current price on the Diamond 12.4 is about US1,300/pr. The previous version, Diamond 11.5 did have 2x8" models and they sold for about $1,500/pr.
