GREATINGS from Cologne Germany
Have only viewed this particular video of yours so far. But what immediately pops into mind is how you use your hand to circle/navigate around the spot that you direct us to press next. This is key since so many other vids are geared towards someone already having prior knowledge of parts or directories, tabs etc and skip these important steps. Hope you keep doing this sort of visual aid.
Fantastic video... appreciate for your all efforts...You are a practically best teacher....Korg should hire people like you to demonstrate their products. With your way of technical demonstration, such great products should reach upto all corners of world, since it is easily understandable...best wishes to you
I don't even have my Kronos yet (picking it up tomorrow!) but already this is an invaluable tutorial. I'm no stranger to file management on the PC, so the Kronos looks like it'll be very familiar. Superb, thanks!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, it is the one Kronos tutorial that everyone should have committed to memory. And thanks also for all the wonderful sound sets you put together for all of us. You are very much appreciated.
Super helpful as I’m about to do a full system backup before loading my first set of 3rd party sounds. Many thanks!
Thanks for the useful tutorial. I am new to the Kronos and this has really helped be gain a little more confidence in navigating my way around the disk feature.
these Korg guys cant make this more cumbersome to load a few simple sounds - incredible
Thanks so much for your patience. Very useful video.
Nobody answers this for me but here goes nothing. I saved my drums into a file in my disk on my kronos , I can see the files. I can play them in disk mode, my question is HOW do I get lets say a kick or a hi hat from there into my session so I can actually USE them?
I'm not really sure what you are trying to do, do you mean: how to load custom drum samples from a kit on your harddisk to create your own drum kit?
@@quirobinez I got it
Thank you for this very helpful tutorial. Now i feel better to handle with backups an load them again. Super!
Thanks so much! Your videos and various other information you share is so helpful and so well done. Much appreciated..!!
This tutorial saved my bacon...again.
just awesome. simple tut but it roxx, thanks from switzerland !
Back in late February, I did a "save all" on my Kronos. Everything selected. In the ensuing months, I made changed to sound sets, added libraries and built many set lists. Each time I made a change, I used the menu at the upper right and chose "write program" or "write setlist" etc, as applicable to the function that I was saving. The Disk LED flashed which made me think it was being written back to the PCG file that I booted with.
The unit loads this set at power up and loads the correct sounds and set lists. So it seems that everything was up to date. That file I saved under the name PRELOAD-ALL.KSC.
Last night, I tried out a new sound library and I allowed it to overwrite my current setup, feeling confident that the next bootup will load my preload file and my Kronos will be back to its usual state.
That, unfortunately, was not the case. Much of the system reverted to the factory state. My pipe organs were gone. My setlists were all gone. All reverted to factory state.
So it seems the "write setlist" command which I had used scores of times over the summer wasn't writing anything. And the dates on the KSC and PCG files were all February.
Now I'm wondering why have a "write" command on the menu if it isn't actually writing to the preloaded file?
I've lost 7 months of programming, sound edits and combis and setlists. I cannot retrieve any of it from PRELOAD-ALL.KSC or the PCG file. It reverts to pretty much factory settings when I load those.
Must I literally do the Save All command and chose a file name EVERY time I make any change to my programs? What then is the use of the "write program/combi/setlist" command if it isn't actually saving anything?
I feel your pain 2 yrs later

Hi. I'm new to Kronos but trying to follow this and 'Create New Directory' option is greyed out. I can create on a flash drive but not Hard Drive, so I guess I'm doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
Sir where are these amazing sound sets
I cannot find them
Thanks for posting all this useful stuff. You're great!!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much :) Your help is very useful :)
Hi Qui
Thank you for this very informative video. You showed how to save a folder into the 3rd party folder you created. How would I go about saving into the 3rd Party Folder imported folders that are actually on the internal hard drive. As my internal drive is full I am about to have a second one put in but I wish to back everything up first.Any help greatly appreciated.
Hi Please help i just got my Korg Kronos 2 88 this morning but i need to know how to load the sounds onto it from the dvd's that came with it.
Can I load krome song files to a kronos???
Write Protect Off might do it?
Excellent job!! Could you tell please how can I erase/delete one or many programs and combis that are not used anymore ?
Thanks for the tutorial How do you load for the files from the Kronos internal disk to a ext USB disk?
I like the background music. Is this something we can download or buy somewhere?
Qui has a MySpace page with several tunes including the first one on this tutorial.
I found it @ myspace.com/robinez/music/songs
So you can backup the whole Kronos system in case of data loss like say a pc or Mac I must try and do that are the discs that come with the Kronos also able to do that.
Hey Qui I have a question. I've been resampling/sampling my Alesis Fusion using Autosampler 2 that I purchased from the App store years ago before Redmatica sold us out to Apple. I've been thinking of sampling from my Alesis Fusion straight into my Korg Kronos because I have both of them setup using using SPDIF/TOSLINK. I have a cable running from Alesis Fusion to a SPDIF Cable to TOSLINK converter box straight into my Korg Kronos. My question is does the Korg Kronos have the ability to AUTO SAMPLE meaning can I choose what intervals I want to use then click something to automate the process? Or do I have to press each key myself? It would not feel right me pressing the each key myself to sample because then each sample's sound levels would not be accurately matched to each other.
How do I load KSC.Files to the Korg Kronos without Earasing or forgetting samples when rebooting then into program?
Hi Qui
Thank you for all your help. I purchased some EP sounds from the Korg.com shop the other day. I followed your instructions from this video, but when it came to loading them from the internal memory into a program space it just doesn't happen. I noticed that all your sounds to be loaded finish with the letters PCG, which makes it the right folder to load, however the ones I purchased from Korg do not say this. Any suggestions anyone?
extracted them wrong, I did that...umpteen times.
Thank you for your time, And posting this, very nice tutorial ! Regards, Totally Kenny..
Great turtorial ... I have one problem with my Korg Kronos 2. I bought additional sounds from official Kapro's library (program sounds) and they work perfectly fine in "program mode" then when I go in "sequencer mode", execute command "copy from program" the new sound is heard (sometimes even that doesn't work - also silence), I record one part of it, and when I try to listen what I just played there is nothing there, just silence. But the visual line in sequencer shows that something was recorded. This is not normal ... If you can help ... Thanks
the only thing i can think off is that you changed the global midi channel on your kronos. Check the timbre channel in the sequencer for that kapro sound and be sure that you are recording on that midi channel (which is defined in the timbre)
Yes, maybe that's the problem, i will check ... Thanks
Where can I find the background music? Has it been released yet?
Qui, how does one 'delete' sound sets from bank slots? A few moths back I had downloaded a few of your free sound sets and somehow duplicated the sound sets to different bank areas. (stupid newb that I am...lol)
Randy Tellez deleting sound sets will be shown in part 2 of this loading and saving series.
Thx Qui. I assume then Part 2 is not yet available?

Thank you for that clear explanation. I feel now much safer in transferring data. - I have one of the very early Korg Kronos (2011) and I will try now to clean up the mess in my directories created when I updated from OS1.0 up to the actual OS 3.04.
Do you have step by step instructions on how to do this: If I am doing a road show, and they provide a Kronos for me (which is what I use at home) How can I load my sounds and set lists on their backline Kronos? I know it will override what they have on the keyboard and I'm assuming they can do a "factory reset" after I leave. Can you explain how to load my sounds for my show then reset it back to what it was? I save everything to a flash drive. I don't use samples. Just want to load all my Programs, Combi's and Set lists.
Just saw your question. I have been wanting to find an answer to that same question. I have a Kronos and so does a friend of mine. We want to copy each others set lists to each others Kronos because we sometimes play each others instrument. I haven't been able to find anyone to explain how this can be done in a step by step manner. Were you ever able to get an answer or an explanation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is not easy as you said, like 300 times back and for to load the freaking sounds, but yea at least you posted it,so thanks anyway
i downloaded some free tones banks from google even though ive got the message popped up that it will change the parameters i ignored it.. now my keyboard is behaving weird .... some of combi tones are fucked badly... is there any chance i can go back to my previous settings without backup ??
you can always go back to the factory sounds by loading the PRELOAD.PCG file from the ssd. Then your complete kronos is restored to factory state. If you create your own sounds or combis and didn't make a backup before loading downloaded sounds to those banks with your own work, then those are lost. So always create a backup of your own work. But the preload.pcg is enough to get a factory kronos again.
i have not created the backup yet bro... can i remove these combi settings which ive just installed by any chance ??
if you mean custom combis from others, then the only way to get rid of them is to load empty combi banks to that location (if they are in combi banks that aren't in the preload.pcg), otherwise they will be overwritten by preload.pcg so then they are gone anyway.
Thanks, very helpful!
Excellent...thanx a lot!
I never knew that in doing a backup, I was suppose to select all the squares to make them red. So therefore, the last backup didn't take. I happened to try to load a song and all the components from several years ago to see if I still wanted to keep it in order to make room for new library I'm trying to install because the memory is to low for the KSC files I need to load. . I didn't follow the instructions fully. Therefore, upon thinking everything loaded, it didn't load to anything anywhere on the kronos. On top of that, it deleted ALL of my custom combis. Over 300 combis I have saved as templates for original music. I lost all of my custom programs with voices I created as singers for the music. They sound real and like celebrity voices. I don't even remember how I created most of them over the past several years. I lost probably 6 years of work with the click of a button. And I still can't load the new library. On top of that, do I need to install more RAM? I only started with 2 Gbs.
Crap you need to get to the korg forums if you haven't already. Those guys can help. Qui is there too.
Hello sir, i bought a new kronos 2. The first time i turn it on its already like 15 minutes and still loading, so i turn it off, and turn it back on after few minutes and it loads quick less than 2 minutes. Sometimes when i turn the kronos it loads easily but sometimes it hangs on like nothing happen for like 5 minutes so i have the idea turning it off and turning it on again and it will be fine again. Sometimes also when i power it on it says on the screen, "turn it off and power it on after 10 seconds". Please help me, if you know whats the problem. is this a major problem? Or do i need to worry about it? i used to have triton and m3 and the kronos is very different its like a computer. Thanks for your videos i watched all of them and im learning.
Yes but full system backup doesn't cover my songs.
Class once again ta
When I copy the sounds back from an old back\up, they will not play. Does not work worth a shit, Had to bring back everything from and old backup.
I put about 100 multisample sounds in my kronos 2 and he crashed maybe10 percent of ram memory a very unsteady keyboard if I could return the time I would never buy it
