For anyone that remembers the real OG mystery box videos from 10+ years ago. You should get the exact same ingredients that you gave Jamie and Barry all those years ago and see how much they’ve improved.
Sounds like a plan! See how differently they will use those same ingredients
i would really love to see this as well
For some additional pain you could also see what the price difference is between those same ingredients then and now. 😊😮💨
Mmm durian cheesecake... They have come such a long way since then
@@aknee3042 wait what ?! xD?
This feels like one of those videos where the last 14 years of learning are on full display.
agreed
2:41 Jamie: "do you know what this is? efficient!"
Then both proceed to miss the high five. **chefs kiss** 😂
The missed five has been sorely missed these last few years, I feared they grew out of it
I don't remember that last part but they've done more romantic things than just a kiss.
@@cftyftyufyfuyfty I miss the dad jokes.
Now that's what i'm talking about! Baz and Jay finally teamed up for a banger of a performance, and there was minimal bickering between them!
Way to go, lads! You guys nailed it!😁
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the episode 😁
They should get a teamwork badge!
@@cynosurewolf At this point it's just pride; the competition's over.
Whoops! I had forgotten it was over. I got so use to the badges. @@JaySay
5:50 In Japan, during the era where it was illegal to eat land animals (you could only seafood and plants), people living in the mountains and this having no access to seafood would hunt wild boar and call it "mountain whale" to skirt around the laws. So Jamie is more right than he knows!
That’s super interesting. Thanks so much for sharing! 🙏
It's better than prairie oysters.
or how the catholic church designated capybara as fish so the Catholics could eat them during lent
@@richmondvand147 also cormorants and beavers!
As someone who eats soup for dinner all the time, I can't tell you how nice it is to cook a soup, eat a portion of soup put it away come back and keep eating at it over the course of the week. It's literally one of my favorite things to do. Soup absolutely is great for dinner. On Sunday, make it over the course of the day, develop the nice flavors, eat it for dinner, if you don't want the soup for dinner every night pre-package it for lunch. I've been doing this since High School with a really wonderful Mulligatawny Soup. Which I learned in High School. I am sorry this is so long but I love soup. Please make more soups. Do an ultimate soup challenge. I love Soups so much.
I've been doing the same thing for decades. And, if you get tired of the soup you made, it can normally be frozen for down the road when you don't want to cook.
I totally agree! I've got some staple soup recipes -- lentil soup and albondigas (meatball) soup from my MIL, zuppa toscana, steak and mushroom -- that I tend to rotate out and are always a good fallback if I don't know what to make for dinner, especially the lentil soup since it's all staples I tend to keep in my kitchen. Soup is amazing and always a good meal
That little tickle attack was adorable.
9:41 I have soup for dinner two times a week, normally homemade. Partially because I love soup but also because I'm a student and soup is normally rather cheap to make and can be really filling
Here’s to team soup! 🙌
Soup for dinner is one of my favorites! You can make some really hearty soups!
Since tuna is the chicken of the sea, chicken must be the tuna of the land.
Very fair 😂
I love this style of video. Like they pointed out, groceries are not getting any cheaper and this reduced bag and staples cupboard is the kind of thing I love seeing and taking inspiration from.
the funny thing is my butcher and farmers market hasn't really gotten pricier only the corrupt grocery stores (woo capitalism) are getting obscene. I'll continue to throw my money at locals who actually do the work not some greedy corporate goons aka CEOs to mid level management
What an incredible effort. They pulled this off!
Thank you! 🙏
Of course they did, they just had to demote Barry back to a normal to pull this off.
HAPPY 14TH BIRTHDAY SORTED 🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂
You’re 4 days early…
Thank you kindly 😁
@@SortedFood Np guys
@@GIBBO4182 You should give the post that Sorted put out today on youtube a look...
@@GIBBO4182 Better to celebrate on a good note. We never know how the Normals are gonna mess up on the day
Formats like this are probably my favorite. Everything that helps me stretch my budget while still eating good is an absolute win in my book
“Let’s get it into the sexies” needs to be trademarked 💪🏻😂
Communication and Team Work... A+ blown away how controlled they were
3:44 Bazz tickling spaff is part of what makes this channel so amazing! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
the boys have gotten too good at this that wasn't close to enough chaos :)
They had very forgiving ingredients except for the anchovies and Olives.
But i love those recepies for everyday cooking.
Happy birthday sorted! I found this channel just a few weeks ago, but safe to say it's truly a game-changer!! Love you guys, hope the journey never ends
Oh wow! Welcome, it’s great to have you here 😁
This is one of my favorite episodes so far. I love seeing Barry and Jamie work so well together and actually do super well. Its really nice to see their growth over the years.
I was eagerly waiting all Sunday for a video to be out. Happy birthday Sorted!!!! Here's to many more to come ❤
Happy Sunday! Enjoy the vid 😁
@@SortedFood loved it. Much love from Sri Lanka
It would be good to see videos themed on scenarios we face in every day life. It’s a week night and you’re knackered and have to cook for the family, making your work lunch for work the next day where the office only has a microwave, kettle and a fridge. Make the packed lunches for a couple of kids, and so on… great video as always
Love the positivity between you all. I hope 10 years from now, when I go on UA-cam, i see a sorted video uploaded 1 hour ago ❤
The boys did great! But since broccoli was the only vegetable, I would have definitely spread that across two or even three dishes. Use some for soup with bacon, a part to make a pasta dish with olives and tomato paste, and knowing myself I would've also made a sandwich, but maybe make a broccoli spread with cream and add bacon on top, and amp up the tomatopaste to add flavor.
Guys, can we please have longer videos!! 11 minutes is not enough... I feel like we miss so much of the actual doing with such short videos!! 😢
Its easy to make and they make money doing easy stuff
@@mentalpasient6823well it wouldn't be easier in this case because there's definitely more than 11 minutes of filming done and it's just been cut down to 11 minutes
It does say part 1, let’s hope there’s another one today
@@grilnam9945 Ebbers just said - part two tomorrow, on their usual monday slot.
It is probably a case of trying to maximize UA-cam's ridiculous algorithms. I still agree, though; I prefer the longer videos.
“If pigs aren’t the fish of the land, then what are they?” 😂😂😂 Never change Jamie!
Jamie is so lucky he didn’t end up with all that bread on the floor.
5second rule its fiiiine
On a cold winter night SOUP IS SO A VALID CHOICE FOR SUPPER and something I make all the time
Loved the normal's approach to broccoli. Normally when I see that much broccoli in a shopping bag it means I've got a week's worth of meals with broccoli somehow shoe-horned in!
Now curious to see what Ebbers does with the same volume! 🥦🥦
I love seeing the Normals (Mr Sous included in that to me still lol) learning the more they do this challenge! Its a lot more calm and well planned than some other times, and as much as I enjoy the fun of the chaos sometimes, just watching them do so well is as entertaining and impressive! Happy Anniversary Sorted :^) glad to have your content in my life, and a couple of your cookbooks in my cupboard :^D
Love this comment, and thank you so much for your support 😁
Barry and Jamie killed this one! As fun as it is to see them in chaos mode, it’s also really cool to see them work so well together.
I loved watching Barry and Jamie working so well together and their excitement is awesome 😃
What I find most impressive about this trio of dishes is that none of them feels like the "leftover" dish. Usually when the normals do a three-dishes set, one of them is a "and throw everything else in a sandwich or a salad". You could argue that's the "bruschetta" but it feels so itself that it doesn't come off that way to me!
I feel like this is the most efficient I have ever seen the lads. Great to see!
That was brilliant! I don't see how any of the normals can be called that anymore, I'm normal and I couldn't do what they're cooking on a regular basis now. Really well done 👏 👏👏
Oh this was such a joy to watch. Yes, its fun to see the chaos and panic, but the videos where they know what they're doing and they have a plan - and they're still creative are truly a pleasure. Also such a painfully relevant conversation on inflation and shrinkflation...
Yay! The grocery shop challenge is one of my favourite things! So much scope for chaos...
That was genuinely impressive. Nice job Jamie and Baz! Keep up the great content.
What a great video showcasing all of the skills learned over the years. Thank you.
Loved this video and those dishes look delicious! Can’t wait for part 2! 😊
Loved this so, so much!!!! Thank you!!!! ❤
I would have made:
Rive with pancheta gravy and stir fried brocolli
Broccoli stem soup with croutons
And broccoli and creme cheese pasta, (similar plating to cauliflower and cheese)
Nice meal planning 👏
I'd worry about broccoli all 3 nights
Not that far off from ben's recipe
Great job, fellas! Teamwork and execution were on point. Bravo!
I LOVE these videos!
I love these ones!
Awesome teamwork guys.. love these dishes
Love these video's, but i think the soup needs bread on the side to be dinner and it the pizza concoction is definitely more of a lunch. Still great to see how much confidence the boys have making the dishes though! 14 years hard work is definitely paying off. 😊
Love this. Perfect!
they are getting better! just goes to show, practice makes better
Great video.. would LOVE to see the return of 3 way battles…
You get creativity, you get chaos, you get banter…
The two of you were truly on fire!! Great job!
Jamie giggling had me rewinding to lol!! 😂
Your guys continue to pour out quality contender time and time again!
This was a good one! I'm inspired.
This was amazing, i would eat any of those and the teamwork was spot on. 👏👏👏
I must say this has quickly become my favorite channel on this platform. You are so consistent!
Happy Birthday Sortedfood!! When you’re older we will all take you out for your first beer!
Also can I ask, what chopping board do you use? I need one and you guys always use that one and it’s taken some beatings!
Very impressive today! Love broccoli soup. Have some in the fridge I'm going to turn into soup. Thanks for the idea!
Broccoli soup is so underrated huh? 😋
I love taking the heads off broccoli to use in pasta then grating the stems for a slaw
long time watcher new acc. you guys have become VERY high level home cooks, very inspiring. and seeing all the love in the comments every anniversary is just lovely. thank you guys for everything you do, here's to many more good years to come, to each of you (the entire team), no matter how things may change.
its actually really funny coming from the chef video portion of this first, then watching this!
Really good episode!
Ebbera said he'd show his? Hoping for a part 2!
I feel like chickens are more of the fish of the land than pigs lol
This was so fun to watch! I love you guys!!~❤
Good work from the lads, I got the feeling the less expansive selection of ingredients put them more at ease, and that showed throughout the planning and cooking.
Very nice dishes, I'd make all of them and eat them with gusto.
SO impressive guys!
Excellent job! Soups always work well with whatever is left in the fridge. When I have broccoli sitting around I make broccoli pasta. Small shells, boil in salted water and a few minutes before they're done add the broccoli (cut up in florets) The timing depends on how cooked you want the broccoli and I'd recommend to overcook the broccoli so it gets mushy. To achieve that I usually cut half of the broccoli really small and the other half in large florets so there's still some texture in the end. When cooked save some of the cooking liquid, put the pasta/broccoli aside and quickly sautee some onions and a load of garlic in some butter and olive oil. After a few minutes add back the pasta/broccoli, season, use the pasta water to get the consistency you like, add some grated parmesan and you're good to go. Super tasty and takes one pot, a colander and about 15 minutes.
This has to be the most put together I've ever seen the boys.
Love this, more packs using the same protein would be great. As a single person, like Ben, If I defrost chicken or a LB of hamburger I need to find at least a couple of ways to use it through the next couple of days.
Happy 14th Birthday! You lads have reached such heighs! VERY proud to be a member of this amazing community for the last couple of years❤❤❤❤❤
Really great work Guys. 👍😊🇸🇪
This did feel shorter but uploading on your birthday and mother's day is very impressive and commited. Thankyou. Happy Birthday! 💖
I really liked this video!
Happy 14th birthday Sorted! 🎉 I've been hanging out with you for about 13 years now and have loved every minute, here's to many more! 😁💕
Killer team work! 👏😘
I love the Grocery Shop Challenges. The way my minds works into overdrive there is everything. Also, great way to plug Sidekick which by all accounts is great. Goes well with a play.
Those 3 dishes all look delicious!!😊❤❤
Pasta Puttanesca with the anchovies, garlic, capers, olives (any chilli in the store cupboard?), Umm chinese Beef and Brocoli - but bacon and brocolli. :) Umm .. the difficult third dish - I really want to make a lemon & cream cheese dessert. :D
GREAT work! 👏👏👏
The boys have nailed this one for sure! I mean those were some great ideas!
Thanks for bringing content and being aware of inflation struggles all over. SOOO many are fighting to make their money and groceries go farther! Your definitely encouraging me to stretch my skills and my groceries farther!
You guys have really come a long way and you know what I like what you made I just couldn't eat it because of the amount of pepper and a few other things that you put in but other than that it's beautiful.😊
Happy 14th anniversary guys! Keep up the good work!
Barry and Jamie nailed it! Well done
Despite all the chances over the years for the boys to really showcase improvement, I feel like suddenly a light went off in both Jamie and Barry's heads and they weren't faffing about being idiots at all. It was honestly so awesome to see them working so smoothly and excitedly about how to use the ingredients in such a creative way!
You lads outdid yourselves!
they did so well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡
What I'd like to see is how you make extra of something one night to be incorporated into the next night, etc. It's what I do at my house.
Example: You make biscuits and gravy for dinner one night - make extra gravy.
The next night you make pork shops with that extra gravy over mashed potatoes - you make extra mashed potatoes.
The night after that you take the extra mashed potatoes and use it as the base of a frittata with lots of veg - cut up extra veg.
After that take the extra veg and put it into a salad you can eat with any of the prior leftovers.
Doing this helps to save time because a lot of each dish was premade.
Happy Birthday. Been part since 4 years of this journey.
Been here since ye olde testing ways to sober up quickly... Must be something like 12 to 10 years. Congrats, guys.
Blooming love this! Thanks for sticking with us for so long 🙌
Can you do challenges of taking a recipe from 1914 Cookbook, Mrs Beetons, or similar cookbooks. Make a version based on the book's recipe and then make a modern version of the dish
Return of Le Répertoire!
Three yummy meals! I've learned from you to cut back on the meat and spread it over two (or more) dishes. I guess the same should be done with loads of vegetables, or pretty much anything that comes in larger quantities. Roast off some broccoli in the pasta pan, set some of it aside before you put the other stuff in, and sprinkle it over the soup. But yeah, everyone knows better when we're just leaning back and not having to do it in front of a camera. Well done, boys, and "Happy Birthday"!
New to your channel. Great video. The ticking was so funny.
Boys nailed it today!
Well done!
Talking about "cream cheese" inflation.
But really talking about how this video was sliced in two, when it would've usually been one videos 😂
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SORTED!!✨🎂
Would love to see you guys do some menu recommendations for Ramadhan. The early morning meal (suhoor) when you dont feel like eating but need to for energy & for breaking fast (iftar) at sunset
5:55 ebbers talking about shrinkflation when the videos are shorter with more ads is peak irony
To be fair we get more videos a week now. It used to just be Wednesday and Tuesday.
To be fair, UA-cam has gone through its own shrinkflation since the adpocalypse and they make less with more videos with more ads.
I feel a puttanesca might be on the cards!
Well done boys! An excellent performance! Now when do we see what Ben and the food team come up with?
They nailed that.
