Jamie now consistently making time for a clean-up is just more proof of how much he's grown since the early episodes. I really believe he's shown the most growth amongst the normals. And his dish came out so well, I can't decide whether to be irritated or impressed. Well, given I'm a bit of Indian- Italian fusion myself- I guess, I just have to try this myself and find out!
How about an all chefs unplanned battle where the dishes have been planned by the normals (like Mike planned for the one Ben’s making in this video)? 👀

Jamie's is definitely the winner in this one.
I think Jamie's dish proved that the concept of a lasagna is perfect and that if you make a few changes to it, it's still pretty good.

Gotta say, I recently watched one of the older videos, like 3 or 4 years old, and the evolution is palpable. They've gotten so much more confident in both the cooking and the banter, and it all just makes for fun videos

Don’t worry Barry, that’s the dish any 5-year-old would go for! My sister made herself top mum in my nephews class for his birthday last year when he requested poo cookies and she made them. And yes, they tasted amazing. 😂

Barry's pasta would win first price in my college's traditional cooking competition for the most ugly (disgusting) looking but tasty food, for sure.

Love what Ebbers has done with Mike's idea. Love how he slowly warms up to it throughout the entire video and in the end seems to be having fun 😊

The Unplanned Battles always seem to bring out the kids in them. The banter, camaraderie, and the pure joy of enjoying each other's company whilst going unhinged with their cooking, like a group of kids being given free reign with Lego and Playdoh.
It is a wonderful thing to watch!
Jamie cooking up a concerning fusion, Barry streching the brief, Mike creating something out of his League, Ben trying to keep control (succseeding and failing at the same time).

‘Slightly miffed but trying to keep it professional and too nice to be really angry Ben’ is my favourite. Also a battle isn’t complete without Jamie trying to merge two cultures and not cause a new world war! Then Barry finishes off with mixing all the pretentious ingredients from that region together. Love it 😂😂
1. These images look like someone was drinking while putting food terms into an AI "art" generator.

Amazing video. I know Barry won the apron but I think it would be another interesting series idea where he has to defend it, with Jamie being the first challenger. He more than deserves the chance standing toe to with both Ben and Kush.
As an Indian, I am surprised I have not yet seen this one around in India with all the fusion thing these days, looks absolute banger!

Hey, it's a fusion of two of the three great food cultures of the world (Mediterranean, Indian, and Chinese). You can't go wrong! ;-p
India had Butter Chicken Pizza for a while, and Canada had Butter Chicken Lasagna! This is definitely the new monster we need.
I'm doubting the "unplanned" part, when Mike had enough prep to be able to have an idea to give Ben, and a full provolone.

This could be a fun battle format, one chef given a normals recipe/idea vs a normal executing their own idea.
And a Normal desperately trying to execute a chefs idea, but they only get the name and ingredients, no recipe.

This battle was super fun 😂 I know as Italian I should be offended but I love you guys too much for that. On the side note I suggest you two things: 1) us a proper "rotella tagliapasta" (there is even a kit with different attachments for decorating), 2) sweets ravioli (which are really common in this period of Carnival) are always deep fried or baked in the oven, I suggest you to try, they are really good 😊

I can appreciate that cooking is about what tastes good not rigid adherence to what recipe was used for a arbitrary number of years beginning at an arbitrary date. If that was the case then no preparation of any food is really "traditional" because we used to just eat nuts and berries and raw meat.
At some point someone was the first person to cook a lasagne or a spaghetti Carbonara or whatever, and it was "not traditional" when they did it because they were first.
I'd love to see Mike making this once he is able, and without seeing this vid.
Just to see how his version turns out vs Ebbers'.

Gonna have to vote for Jamie! Love all the flavors he put in there, and while it's very far from a traditional version of any of those dishes, it still looks incredibly tasty.
idea for a future battle: plan and prep for a meal, and then make everyone rotate one spot to the right so they have to cook someone else's idea (a bit like Ebbers today but for everyone)

Honestly guys, this has been my favorite video in awhile. Three friends in the kitchen roasting each other, a healthy pinch of Benuendos, and good food at the end. It's a recipe that will never fail.
Unplanned!? O, goody! Plans go awry so hilariously on this channel- i can’t wait to see what madness will ensue when the team doesn’t bother with planning- at all! A Runaway Sorted Train! Choo! Chooo!!! Crash!!!
Thank you for the video! By the way its kindof random but I wonder if you can make a challenge (maybe) to use 1 whole plant as a theme? That would be awesome. For example cooking several dishes starring banana, banana stem, banana blossoms etc etc. Papaya, papaya leaves, papaya flowers etc etc.
Laughing with bazz is fun at all but i like to put in my own 2 cents: Barry has earned that apron and having worked within the industry for many years and seeing the advances Barry has made through the years. He truly won the apron! Sure he will do a barry and think too much outside the box every now and then but that's what makes him special! YOU ROCK BAZZ!

It would be interesting to have the chefs fill the fridge with random/unexpected ingredients and the normals come up with what they want to cook before seeing the ingredients available. Then they have to stick to what they wanted to cook but adapt based on the ingredients. It’s sort of like unplanned battle but a little different?

Making any dough from scratch is one of the most satisfying things a person can do at home.
I make bread and pasta. There is something very soothing about rolling pasta. Very zen feeling for me.
Made a focaccia a couple days ago, let the dough rise for like two days.
Munched on the edges with honey for breakfast, an then made tasty sandwiches with the rest. It's probably the best sandwiches I've ever had.
At least while fully clothed.

I love the idea of Ben or Kush being given ingredients and a weird idea from the normals and asked to make it on the spot. Wonder if there could be a video idea from that.
In all honesty: Watching your videos is one of the things that cheers me up no matter my mood. I am having a not oi good day, but seeing you guys on my screen with your energy, your ideas, your puns... It just makes my day a bit better.

Honestly all three looked outstanding. All of you guys seemed to be in control (for the most part) with very little flapping. Kudos to Ben for getting thrown in there with someone else's idea and making something that looked delicious. I do have to give it to Jamie though. His just looked like something I could eat over and over and never get tired of it.
The innuendo's ! Oh dear this is the toughest spooning I've ever done . How deep do you think Mike would have gone - From previous experience, not that deep. Good cause I'm exhausted after this spooning. How did that not make anyone of you crack.
For the millionth time, cheesesteaks don't have fresh peppers. You can add them if you want, but it's not a standard ingredient.
Peppers, onions, and mushrooms = yum!
@@sabrinawilhelm7964 they're not bad! Just not standard. Mushrooms are actually a pretty common addition, much more so than fresh peppers. But pickled peppers (hot, or sweet) are even more common.
It's just weird how the entire world outside of the Delaware valley somehow decided every cheesesteak is supposed to have big hunks of onion and green pepper.
@@tinkdnuosto be fair most places ive been to caramelized the onions and peppers or at least softened them on the grill before putting them on the sandwich
@@alyssat7809 the onions should be "fried" but not caramelized. Soft and translucent, golden, but not brown. And yes, IF you're using fresh peppers, they should probably be grilled too. I just said "fresh" to distinguish from pickled hot or sweet peppers.
Although like I said before, you can have it however you like it! But fundamentally it's meat and cheese on an Italian roll, with or without onions. Anything else is an extra and NOT included or expected on a cheesesteak, traditionally.
Suggestion! Unplanned dessert battle! Finesse and chaos combined!
Absolutely LOVE the "artist's renditions" of the dishes. Possible editing tip, when showing the "sexies", fade from the rendition to the ACTUAL dish?
I know everyone likes to tease Barry - But he did win the Sous Chef Apron fair & square, in fact he won it despite some setbacks.
Don't hold anyone hostage - There is a difference between teasing and belittling. Barry won that fair and square, he's awesome
In terms of technique required I feel like Jamie's was the simplest. That is not to say Ben and Barry did not execute their tougher techniques, but as far as the most complete, good looking, well balanced dish I think Jamie's dish gets the win. Now give him the red apron already.
I think the win goes to Jamie, but I’d love to try Mike/Ben’s dish (minus the whole provolone part - a bowl would suffice). I’d like to try Barry’s if the recipe and method were developed a bit more.

Then Barry for his creative and out of the box thinking. Making a dessert pasta is very unique but risky. However he pull it off so great job.
I was honestly really disappointed by the use of AI generated images for the food mockups. Would honestly far prefer (poorly) hand drawn graphics over this, then at least it'd be clear what the intent of the cooks is.
As an indian J all i have to say is you are very brave very brave you took two of my favourites and now i will cry until i know what that tastes like 😢

@@FrostedCreationsI believe it means that Mike was supposed to be doing it, but was sick or otherwise occupied. And that they didn’t have time to fully prepare (see: Jamie had to get something out of the fridge rather than buy a new cheese, Mike didn’t order ingredients, etc.).
The way Ben goes from innuendo to self-deprecation in under 10 seconds is my brand of humor. Ben's/Mike's dish sounds great... Would love to see Mike have to actually cook it up without any help... To compare against what Ben made...

Would love an annual, end of year, Chef Skills Challenge championship between the three normals to see who improved the most that year. In case someone wants to knock Barry off of his sous chef throne and take his red apron.

I've been dreaming of a New York style pizza made on thinly rolled naan with a favorite curry for sauce and cheese melted on top.
I would vote Jamie, it looked so nice.
I love combining pasta and anything tomato based! So Jamie gets my final vote as well! I think as a concept/novel idea- Barry's is the most interesting, but also seems difficult to potentially execute. Mike's seems like a safe and done deal (not sure if it tastes better/texture better than Barry's) but putting a hole into bread and filling it with pasta isn't unheard of (like a sausage roll but instead its pasta and bread.
Were the sketches for the dishes done with AI?
Ben calling out Barry 😂 I have said that since day 1 the apron was handed out. Barry only knows desserts, Jamie only understands proteins.mike imo has the most well-rounded skill set
As much as I love the cheese steak idea and I am sure it tasted great. I have to go with Jamies dish sounded and looked more interesting and made me REALLY hungry. His dish also happens to give a nod to some of my favorite Indian dishes.
Barry's would be only my number 3 but that is mostly because I prefer savory over sweet.
Philadelphian here: You can do whatever cheesesteak inspired thing you want. We won't be bothered until you start trying to pass it off AS a cheesesteak. I can't imagine caring if you "really understand and appreciate" the original, but you do have to know what ingredients and major techniques actually go in something or very don't, cheesesteak or otherwise, in order to make anything inspired by it. This easily fits the bill on the cheesesteak front but will probably confuse the cheese-wheel-pasta folks.
Barry gets my vote for his creativity.
He always thinks outside the box and I appreciate that!

Maaaan, the AI images of the planned dishes really killed my buzz of imagining what they were explaining. I enjoyed that bit, and now it's gone.😕
Jamie's definitely my winner, too, despite me being a huge fan of pasta alla ruota. The problem with the latter is, it's pretty much impossible to make at home without wasting tons of cheese (and buying whole wheels of cheese is also not that easy for most of us, or practical. Who's got the storage for that?)
Team Mike & Ben is my second place, because I love pasta alla ruota, and this twist looks and sounds absolutely delicious.
Barry comes third, I find his dish rather confused, despite it being innovative.
