I just bought two G2 200 H.O. motors. I've had them for 8 months... LOVE THEM! I don't even know where to start on why... The Company backs their product. At low idle they sound like diesels.
How are they going now still got them ? Considering one instead of a merc Optimax on my 17 foot ski boat , do you recommend them still ? Merc guys swear merc and g2 is problems ? I love the reviews they seem to have lightning acceleration , thanks for the comment !
The Vindicator bad ass venom bad ass fast strike and intruder all bad ass OMC outboards I have no clue on quality control at BRP. You might have a damn fine Etec. There were a bunch of bad injectors and balancing them I heard was a bitch
As long as you're not allowing the engine to over rev I can't see any harm. Though I'm sure its rather an inefficient way of moving given that like 20% of your thust is just flying into the air. But I guess that is why we have the ol' phrase "Smiles per gallon."
Crimson Pyro you actually gain speed because it raises the boat out of the water and creates less drag. Of course there is a limit where you can go too much, the boat will porpoise and over rev and u will feel the loss of power
A bit late to the party, but I'm pretty sure Matthew meant the part of the video where the boat is pretty much standing still and the motor is raised almost all the way out of the water and they're just spraying water with the prop.
Its perfectly ok to do that with the motor especially the G2, he was demonstrating the low water pick up on the nose cone on the lower unit. The G2 comes factory with high speed water pick up..
I called it the year they came out. They re-invented the wheel and nobody wants it and nobody will want it and they will be out of business in less than a decade man. It sucks being right all the time.
They run nice so does a cheap Korean car! From ficht on they were mechanically behind in tech just adding more and more complex engine management but with expensive parts and bad reliability means they never were relied upon by coastguard or police or even surf life saving
I see more mercurys and yamahas with blown power heads for sale than anything else and none of these g2 ,s fir sale at all never seen one with a blown powerhead yet
@@atvdave88 I agree with you there they are well engineered and I don’t mind the engines at all especially in larger hp,my experience as a marine mechanic is limited but still learning just would prefer to work on Yamaha and tohatsu and mercury if i have to,and if it’s paying well I’ll fix brp
Evinrude was big for European and Australians got evinrudes that are 30 years old still run out 30 miles offshore I had Suzuki blow up on me and Yamaha just quit running but not an evinrude yet
as an ex marine mechanic I’m biased towards the best engines to work on and in service need the least parts! btw I still use my 60s sports twin to power a home made hydroplane, but brp, evinrude,Johnson, mer cruiser and stern drives, some mercury,Suzuki,Honda some Yamaha and most 4 stroke’s all trash! I build my own surface drive outboards now and won’t look back!
i am an outboard mechanic, and i have an e-tec myself. the electronics are almost just as bad. it's cheap plastic that breaks easily and lots of exposed copper that corrodes
Why do we lose our minds with unreal motors. Love it!
I have a 90 hp etec and absolutely love it. Its super quiet at idle and fuel milage is amazing.
Best 300 out there right now, and man that motor is mounted perfectly!
Fantasic watercooling intake, can run the engine all way up in trim , and wonderful sound , have a 150 g2, great motor ..
What about spare Parts?
@@janb572 no problem in at least 9 years, and it will be parts in more years for sure.
I could get a G2 300 hp with 120h 2016 Build.
Thinking about that
Stumbled on this, awesome video man, really captured the feel of the moment, RIP Evinrude!
nice sound. sounds like a solid engine congratulations

Is doing a rooster tail like that bad for the motor?? Always wondered so I'd never done it
Motor is perfectly positioned & adjusted by owner Harri Husso, who is outboard specialist.
