    Why not try asking the questions in Japanese? Just to see if the answers change due to cultural bias in the AI training data.

      there is no bias in chat gpt because it was never trained for accuracy of information at all as a language model. or to put it another way you could say it had apl the biases? chat gpt is amazing but definitely not a source for accurate brand new information without fact checking haha😅

    • @warwizard1309
      @warwizard1309 9 місяців тому +43

      @@ldkmelon you misunderstood my point
      The cultural bias is inherently present in the training data cause the English input is written mostly by Occident sources which are interpreting a foreign culture through their own. Input written in Japanese is on the contrary written mostly by Japanese which by obvious reasons are a more reliable source of information on Japanese culture.

    • @ldkmelon
      @ldkmelon 9 місяців тому +14

      @@warwizard1309 almost all content that chat gpt is trained on is not written at all by its creators, but just scoured from the internet and other sources. I totally agree that asking the question in japanese will give different answers and use different sources. Asking the exact same question mutliple times will also give different answers and use different sources. Since no accuracy checking is involved at all.

    For the onsen, it may be obvious for Japanese people not to bring cell phones or drinks at the onsen. But where I live in Canada, in some baths you can bring your drinks to the pool, and people mess around with phones and take videos and stuff even though it's forbidden. It's very very annoying, it's probably a western thing. So I'm not surprised Chat GPT mentioned it, since you wrote your questions in English, it probably took the instructions it found on the internet for foreigners visiting Japan.

    Hey Shogo, in case you are in need of content ideas: How about making a video about Irasutoya? Since you use their graphics all the time. I see them on at least 50% of other japanese channels as well and i read that they're so commonly used in Japan, by companies and even the government, that the artist got praised on japanese media but also some japanese people are really annoyed seeing them everywhere. Some even go as far as calling it the "Comic Sans of illustrations in Japan". But to people outside of Japan it's just adorable graphics, haha! 😆
    I've looked up the website in the last days to see what it offers and the amount of work Takashi Mifune has put into it is really astonishing. Though it might also be worth shedding some light on competitors as well or the whole illustration scene in Japan apart from Manga since Irasutoya doesn't really need even more publicity i guess.
    Maybe the idea is too niche and doesn't really fit the format of your channel but i thought i'd suggest it. Non-japanese UA-cam seems to have only 2 videos about it yet.

    Hi Shogo, could you make a video going into detail regarding harakiri etiquette?
    You've mentioned in a previous video that you could make a whole video about this topic cause it was a lot of info.

    Konnichiwa Shogo! I saw your video about Harakiri and Suicide. This is a serious issue. Thank you for addressing about this to us. It takes a lot of courage to post that. However my question is, why don't you talk about this, in Japanese too so that they can understand? I am not saying that you should overwork yourself. But if Japanese saw your videos related to social problems, like this, there are chances that they can understand.I hope the problems in Japan go away. You're a really great content creator. ❤❤.

    I've been hearing new onsan outright don't have the tattoo policies, as well as organized crime is way, way less of an issue as it was in the 70s and 80s.
    But, that's largely me "hearing" about it and not being able to prove it (outside that one onsan Azur Lane collabed with where their website says tattoos are allowed), as most onsan don't have websites and the ones that do I can't exactly dig around on, as I can't read Japanese.

    I have a question about the onsen rules, you mensoned that if you gave a tattoo you might be asked to cover it up, but how would you cover it up if you arent allowed to wear any kind of clothing or bathing suit?

    This comment is unrelated to the video and it's quite a selfish request, but are there any Japanese channels similar to Shogo's? I really like his channel, especially the videos about Japanese traditions, history, etiquette, societal norms and problems, but I want to learn Japanese, and to that, enjoyable Japanese media is crucial.

      A channel I enjoy watching sometimes is watercolor by shibasaki. His channel is off topic from the things you mentioned but I still would recommend it. He is much like a Japanese Bob Ross haha, he does various art videos.

    I actually use Chat GPT for this exact reason. It seems to do well with terms and stuff, but terrible with time periods (ie what battles took place between 1500 and 1545?) Chat GPT will list battles that happened after the end date of the time period I wanna know about

    I would never use the word Seppuku for joking around about something. I always use Harakiri for such conversations with friends. Because for me personaly, it will feel kinda disrespectful if I say Seppuku in this joking situations. But honestly i never thought about the difference, it was just an intuition. But now it makes sense.

    Chat gpt is an AI tool. It can give you highly customised answers. It is very useful, especially if you are learning stuff related to IT. Only drawback is debugging the code takes hours together. This issue is due to the fact that chat gpt is evolving. If you have chatgpt, you can save a lot of time when researching topics.

    Shogo had ChatGPT plus and yet he didn't use the GPT 4 version, which is like 75% better than GPT 3.5 in terms of accuracy and gives fluid responses.
    And there is also Bing Chat, which is just as if not more OP than GPT 4 since it has the ability to search the web and answer, which is a real time saver xD.
