  • This is the first of two Q&A sessions with Professor Jeffrey Sachs, recorded on June 12, 2023 at a peace event in Vienna. Dr. Sachs explains why NATO did not allow neutrality to become a solution for Ukraine and why the alliance is seeking to expand into the Indo-Pacific region. The warmongering of western institutions continues. They are preparing for global war.

Well, you love his rational arguments, but politics are ruled by emotions and afterwards covered with rational arguments! Just think of Adolf Hitler, think of Wladimir Putin´s move to attack Ukraine, think of the former leader of Irak, late Saddam Hussein, who ordered his army to attack Iran in 1980, think of Kim il Sung (North-Korea) .....Taiwan is still independent due to the US. It is clear, the US follow their own (economical) interests and often pretty crude. As I lived directly at the border to East-Berlin I still prefer to be dominated by the US as to be a minion of Russia. It is unbelievable how they treat in Russia their own people ! And if you have a chance to speak to people from Poland or the Baltic states, no one ever wants to be in conctact with Russia again! And China? Well, Spratly Islands are still an issue and nuisance for Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia.Just think of Tibet, which was occupied by China,...J. I'm fed up with Stoltenberg's ongoing escalation and warmongering given a nuclear threat in Europe. In the build-up to the current political, military, economic and diplomatic conflict that NATO has unleashed in Europe, Stoltenberg has led the way from its very inception. In December 2021, during a visit by Zelensky to Brussels, Stoltenberg affirmed that the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation would continue its eastward expansion, despite Russia’s protests. He has lied with impunity in order to pursue the aggressive and expansive policy that characterises NATO and has been the direct cause of the current conflict in Ukraine.

There was a time when the blue beret meant something to Canadians, we went around the world advocating for peace. Today we have a Prime Minister that goes around the world talking tuff and disrespectful to China and Russia. Our present Prime Minister is like a small dog that stays behind a big dog and bark, hoping the big dog will defend him. The big dog only cares about its own interests. I am hoping one day that a leader will come in the mold of our present Prime Minister's father. That will advocate for peace and justice all over the world. He is the opposite of his father. @synth. First, you just make declarations, and think that they are arguments. There's a difference between making declarations and arguing, don't you know?
Second, even your declarations are ridiculous. I'll take just one: of your declarations: that the Afghanistan and Ukraine war are completely different. How so? Let me point out to you some similarities.
      1) Both are wars far from the US homeland.
      2) The US has no business waging war in both countries. Did Afghanistan carry out the 9/11 attack? No. Did Russia attack the USA? No.
      3) Was the Afghanistan war a moral war? No. Is the US on moral high ground waging the Ukraine war? No. The US started the Ukraine war in 2014, and refused talks with Russia to resolve the conflict, thereby closing off all avenues to peace.
      4) Did the US pour enormous sums and resources into both wars? Most definitely, and is continuing to do so in the Ukraine war.
      5) Who benefits most in both wars? The military-industrial complex.
      6) The Afghanistan and Ukraine war are both empire wars of US imperialism.
Next year, I'll tell you the US lost both wars.

@@katong1953 The US is not directly involved in the Ukraine war so you are already dead wrong in your first point.
The US did have business waging war in Afganistan. The taliban were not willing to hand over the terrorist masterminds behind the attack and the US gave them an ultimatum.
If Afganistan war was moral? Probably not, but it does not give it any credits for Russia to invade Ukraine.
Russia is the one who invaded, hence the one who actually started the war. You can talk about provocations, reasons and all that , but in the end it was Russia who started the war, they were the first one to send troops and initate the invasion first.
( and why does Russia have a free pass for you and the US does not in Afganistan? Obviously a ruzzzski troll)
Yes the US helps Ukraine with it's defensive war, which is the actual moral part of the US global policy in a long time.
Of course the weapon industry earns money during war, you thought they would earn less? Every countries military industry earn more during conflict, while many other sectors suffer. Basic economics. The russian military industry is also booming right now.
How on earth is giving Ukraine the means to defend their SOVEREIGN territory american imperialism and Russia INVADING AND ANNEXEING TERRITORY not? You are obviosly just some Russian propaganda account or just incredibly stupid.

The same regarding the way they imperturbably kept expanding NATO towards the East, despite what had been said to Gorbatchev in 1991. And all of the Native Americans too definitely know something about hundreds of ‘broken treaties’ in the past… Not exactly the best way to be trusted around the Globe.
