- Warning - Fighting robots are very dangerous and are meant to be battled and tested in a safe manner. Team Skorpios has been building and competing for 20 years in the sport, and have taken all of the safety precautions necessary to insure the safety of all members involved in this testing. Cameras have been affixed near the robot to capture footage of this weapon test, with builders hundreds of feet away, out of the path of the weapon, behind concrete barriers. When building and fighting robots of any size and scale, please take precautions to ensure your safety and the safety of others.
In this episode we test the weapon of Skorpios for the upcoming season of Battlebots on Discovery Channel! We made many changes that need to be tested through the rigors of combat, so Zach and Diana take Skorpios out into the middle of nowhere, far away from any humans to safely test the weapon of Skorpios by fighting timber! It clearly stands no match!

My favorite part of battlebots and combat robotics in general is seeing the passion and dedication that goes into this. You find the nicest people alive all coming together to put on the best show possible. It is so great to see how helpful everyone is even though they are supposed to be competing. It is a true showcase of people being passionate about something and wanting everyone to enjoy it , whether they are watching or competing. Thank you for putting these videos that give us extended access to your personal passion and exuberance for this!
What I like about Battlebots is, well, honestly everything! I was introduced to the sport by my math teacher in 7th grade during the first reboot season, and immediately fell in love. At the time, I was really struggling with life, and I owe a lot to Battlebots for helping me get through that tough stage.

Its neat to see how well Skorpios behaves on asphalt. I love the passion from the builders and fans of combat robotics. So many people with wildly varied skills coming together to make something meant to be destroyed.
My favorite part of Battlebots is how much it brings so many different people together and how accepting it is. I love how uplifting the builders are to the other teams and how, even though everyone is fighting for the same goal, its still about the fun of the sport. It's honestly my favorite thing to watch cause of how wholesome it is. And having a "Giant Nut" as a prize will never not be hilarious to me.
Honestly there’s so many different things I love about Battlebots, the destruction, the competitiveness, trying to predict the outcome of new matchups, the design and creativity of the bots, and the comedy of people getting together to smash their things together for fun, but the thing I’ve ended up loving the most is how inspiring the people are, I’ve been watching the TV show since the first season aired and I can’t think of any other show, or any other sport where such wholesome and inspiring people come together

What I like about BattleBots. Hard to summarize in 1 comment. I like how a group of people came together under one sport. In it's destructive beauty, and after the dust had settled, we still come together to help each other get ready to get knocked down again.
What I love about Battlebots is how comfortable I feel being 100% myself among fans and builders. I've been in love with the sport since I saw it on Comedy Central in 6th grade. My school notebooks were full of design ideas. It's a brutal, physical sport where nerdy, non-physical kids can thrive. Thanks for what you do for the next generation of fans. I wish I had grown up with so much access to STEM goodies in the 90s!
What I like most about battlebots is probably the amazing creativity and freedom to build such awesome machines. Every robot has its own personality that reflects the ones who built it.
Exactly! And it inspires the viewers to want to do the same. Everyone I've shown it to almost immediately is like, "Well what if you did this?" I don't know of anything other show like that.

This one doesn't count, but my favourite aspect of Battlebots is how so much love can come from a show all about robots killing eachother. The community is tight, welcoming and oh so wonderfully strange.

Battlebots has become a family event. We have been and are still counting down the days until the new season to watch together with the kids.
Battlebots and your behind the scenes videos have inspired my husband and father in law to try and make ant weight and beetle weight robots on a 3D printer which has allowed the kids to get into the sport and want to become better drivers.

What I like most about Battlebots is the variety of different bots and the different backgrounds of the builders! Each season there is something new and innovative! Plus, I love that it is a family friendly show. My 5 year old loves to watch it with me!
One of my personal favorite parts of BattleBots is the sportsmanship of everyone. It's fun to hear stories of people helping others in the pits making sure that everyone's bots are ready to fight.
The best part of Battlebots to me is the constant design tradeoffs you have to think about, everything addition has a drawback and it’s a game of balancing those pluses with minuses. You guys, and Battlebots as a whole, is unironically the primary reason I set on the engineering career path. Thanks for everything you do for the community!
What I love most about battlebots is the community. Everyone I’ve met in the community is just so nice. To be able to enjoy something you love with good people is the thing that matters most to me.
My favorite part of Battlebots and robot fighting as a whole is the camaraderie. Everybody helps each other, but then in the box, you see the emotion that built up, from brainstorming to testing and from testing to fighting.
The Reddit is great too, you can get whatever you need and ask any questions you have, getting answers from every weight class.
There's so much to love, but the people make me enjoy robot combat so much more.
My favourite aspect of Battlebots has to be the community. Sure, robots battering the nuts off each other is fun, but the cameraderie of the people involved behind the scenes is so heartwarming. My favorite thing about Battlebots, besides the epic fights, is both the engineering and the camaraderie between teams. Seeing how the teams work with each other, lend a hand, back each other up, and cheer each other on once they get back into the arena is really cool to see! It’s something that isn’t shown as much on the show but outlets like your channel and others on UA-cam really highlight and I love it!
What i like about battlebots is the destruction, meatin new friends, learning more about robotics, sportmansship and of course, the the exiting feeling of winning a match. Realy love you guys!
Our family loves battlebots for the entertainment, destruction, and cool robots that the engineers build. There's no other show out there like it and they paved their own way. No one else has been able to mimic it and it is one of a kind.
Wow! Skorpios new weapon looks really destructive! My favorite thing about Battlebots is that it inspires a lot of people to build their own robots. It inspired me to work on trying to turn an RC car into a 1lb Wedgebot.

What I like most about Battlebots? Honestly, aside from just watching some cool destruction that doesn't involve hurting anyone (well, usually!), it is something that has brought our family together. Crazy as that sounds, the kids love it, we play the HexBug game all the time, I made them a card and dice game we can all play together, we got to take a trip to Vegas together, and it continues to give us family time when we can teach things like fair play while the kids grow more interested in engineering. Thanks to BB for all of that, but thanks to you, Team Skorpios, for extending the effort to inform and entertain us.
My favorite thing about battlebots is watching the gears turn in my 6 year old boys head when he plans his own future bot. We watch every night before bed. You are one of his favorites.
My favorite part about battlebots is how much builders can express their creativity with their robot. Since there is no correct way to build a robot, every one is a work of art that reflects the builder.
So, the thing that I’ve decided is what’s most important for me when it comes to battlebots is the way it engages STEM like no other sport. The carnage sets it apart from something like chess or another activity where people might engage more intellect than brawn, but the robotics and engineering side of it makes it feel so much more evolved and important than traditional sports like baseball or soccer. Plus, it encourages children to look at STEM as something “cool” or “badass” rather than lame or dorky.
My favorite part about robot combat, is the huge variety of designs where there are robots completely different competing among theirselves and the fact that there is no ideal design, as the most innovatives designs can achieve a greater performance than some already established ones.
It’s a sport where new weapon types and strategies are developed as the time passes, who would think that a flywheel flipper like Blip or a melty brain would be a thing twenty years ago?
So that is what Battlebots means to me: it’s an amazing sport that brings up entertainment and incentivates technology without limiting the creativity and the carnage

That new disc looks absolutely devastating! My favorite part about combat robotics is the constant evolution of bot designs, it's very similar to how species evolve in nature, however it is so much faster that you can pretty much watch it in real time.

It's the creativity that always had me since the beginning of the show. Even from the Comedy Central days, I was amazed at how someone could wire up his sofa and drive it around his neighborhood!

My favorite part of Battlebots is the community, seeing how ever my builder seems to be friends with one another, it’s amazing to see how things change the moment they leave the pit. People seem like they are so good friends and it always seems like they are enjoying themselves whether they win or lose. (That and sparks of course)
What I like most about Battlebots are the fights that are true slugfests. Just a pair of top tier, excellently engineered bots (like Tombstone and Bite Force, or Rotator and Valkyrie) going at it for the full 3 minutes. While a quick electric KO is satisfying, there’s nothing like two elites going the distance!
What I like best about Battlebots is that it is a TV Show, so millions? of people get to see it. It inspires those millions of people to get creative and respect other people's ingenuity. The combat robotics community is also shown to be a smart, funny, and likable group of different types of people with different backgrounds, with the common bond of trying something new, in search of something new and fun together.
My favorite aspect of battlebots is how it combines extreme engineering and tech with raw entertainment, so it's a cerebral way to satiate or primitive will to watch combat, but with science, and without people getting hurt (well, most of the time!)
I like that Battlebots merges creativity, science and entertainment. It's interesting how the bot designs have evolved over the years based on trial and error.
What I like mostly about battlebots is that you can make a creative and extremely dangerous and destructive bot of your creation and while your destroying other bots, you inspire someone watching and they want to enter and when they put in the work and enter they inspire else too
My 8 year old son when I asked him what he likes most about BattleBots is Team Scorpios! Your bot is a fantastic design, very unique and extremely agile.
Personally my favorite thing about BattleBots is watching a flipper absolutely launch bots into the stratosphere. There's just something so satisfying with seeing that immense power on display.

What makes battlebots special for me is just the energy of the teams and the cast.
BattleBots is actually what motivated me to go back to school to finish my engineering degree, so what I like most about it will always be that it inspired me to fix one of my greatest regrets and has completely changed the trajectory of my life.
My favorite part of Battlebots is the engineering and design of the robots. The engineering it takes is just incredible, from figuring out how to engineer spinning weapons to actually building/machining a whole robot. Combat robotics is a big part of the reason why I want to go into mechanical engineering/robotics for my career.
My favorite thing is how it brings people together. Bot builders, event organisers, and the fans all come together to do something that is equal parts very difficult, entertaining, terrifyingly destructive, and inspiring. Its such a pleasure to see people coming together to do something great that no one person could acheive, not for personal gain, but for the benefit of others. Just think how Battlebots/robot combat has contributed to the advancements in microcomputing and engineering, all the kids who will grow up to be engineers or scientists because they love Battlebots.
Battlebots is one of the reasons I got interested in medical science. Watching Mythbusters growing up made me fall in love with the scientific method, the problem solving, and engineering and Mythbusters only really existed because everyone involved in the show met at Battlebots. Rediscovering Battlebots in 2016 I was instantly hooked, it reignited my interest with electronics, rekindled my love of science and engineering, and really helped me figure out what I wanted to do with my life.
TLDR: Putting that much effort into smashing stuff makes kids grow up to do amazing things that benefit everyone :)
I love the community behind battlebots. In the pits everyone is always willing to help each other out while in the arena they are ready to destroy each other's bots!
What I love most about battlebots is the community and the creativity. Despite battlebots being about the destruction of other peoples robots the fact that afterwords teams help each other fix their bots in the pit is amazing. And the creativity is also cool to see the bots, the outfits and the costumes builders sometimes give to the bots to match their specific opponent is what makes battlebots great.

The engineering and execution by "regular" people is the best part to watch.
The thing I like most is our community. Over on reddit everyone is willing to help out new builders and share experience.
This is probably some of the most enjoyable Battlebots content, just pure destruction of basic items. What I enjoy most about Battlebots is its simplistic completely. There is something as simple as Tombstone in concept but it requires so much attention to detail to keep it from flying around uncontrollably. Great video guys and good luck to everyone. =)

I love the creativity the most every year you can expect at least one team to try to stretch what is “meta” in the realm of combat robotics and it’s all the more sweeter when those robots actually do well at competing and change how we think about robots.
What do I like most about battlebots? This Community! There’s groups all over Facebook, Discord and other platforms dedicated to helping people with this insane hobby and the community overall is super supportive. It’s genuinely the most kind and helpful community I’ve ever seen, and you guys definitely help out a lot with these awesome videos! I’ve learned so much about robot combat from you guys and other battlebots teams and the community in general that I’m finally gonna head to my first event in April 2022. I’ll be cheering for skorpios this season! *strange hand scorpion thing ensues*
What I like most about Battlebots is the creativity put into the designs of the bots. Both ingenuity wise (HUGE, SMEEEE, Mammoth) and personality wise (Rusty, Nelly, Witch Doctor)

Most my favorite throughout the years are the incredibly destructive win or die spinners and flippers that are right on the limits usability and physics. What I love is this is not the only approach. For every destructive chaos monster you have engineers who are more controlled or creative to their particular approach .

What I like most about Battlebots: How it inspires people, especially kids, to get into science and engineering. Nothing makes me smile more than seeing kids get inspired to build their own bot and want to explore how something works in another bot. Battlebots is an incredible avenue for kids (and adults!) to start exploring the STEM field. It can be a tricky field to REALLY get involved in at a young age, but robot combat is a very fun bridge that can make that possible.
On a personal note, I discovered Battlebots when I was 8, and Mythbusters soon after. Between Robot Combat and Adam and Jamie, I fell in love with science and engineering, and my adult life is now dedicated to it. I graduated with my B.S and M.S in Mechanical Engineering, and I'm now working on the PhD. I can confidently say that without Battlebots, my formative years would not have been the same, and I doubt I would have ended up dedicating myself this hard to any other field.

I think there’s a lot to like about battlebots, but for me what it mainly means is something entertaining and interested while all the while being fun. These last two years, these haven’t been no normal two years man, and that’s why I’ve only gotten more and more invested in Battlebots is because it’s offered an escape, something to put on and at least for a little while forget about what’s going on in the outside world. It’s been really nice to just have that sometimes and be able to turn my brain off and just watch some robotic carnage. So I thank you, along with every other builder, for putting all this time, effort, and money into building these bots.
What I like about battle bots. During the fights seeing an underdog kick some butt and do better than they expected.

A new arrival into the current round of Combat Robotics, but the creativity and testing that goes into this. My 7-year old son is fascinated, and so am I. We've printed our first 150g robot, but still need to get all the internal electronics. Now to find some opportunities to attend events!
My favorite thing about battlebots and combat robotics in general is the amazing challenge of making destructive robots, taking a complex engineering approach involving multiple engineering fields and an amazing community from which anyone can learn, even just by simply watching. My favourite part of Battlebots is, that these massive machines have had 100 possibly 1000s of hours put into upgrading and building them, and then they are just put in an arena just to destroy each other. I also like the sportsmanship from almost every team as they are willing to help if an opponent is stuck.
As a aspiring bot builder, I find it fun that battlebots has some the smartest engineers in the world come together to blow things up.
My favorite part about Battlebots( both the show and sport) is all the different design ideas. All from the different methods of building a pusher/wedge to all the different spinners and how the go about using it. From “simple” stuff like End Game and Tombstone to things like Skorpios and Switchback
I love watching weapon testing at any size 150g on up. Now what do I like most about battlebots.....everything. It really has come together since the days of comedy central.
Something I have always loved about all combat robot is how when even you get your bot completely obliterated you can still have a great time. Giving away trophies is so much fun.
My favourite part of Battlebots is that we continue to pit robots against each other, we can’t let them unite and band together in fear of a great uprising 😂😂.
It’s also awesome for my kids, as I feel the builders of the show are awesome role models that you don’t often get with other sports.
Honestly my favorite part of battlebots is the creativity of all the builders, for instance you and sawblaze making hammersaws, or blips new design, not to mention all the bots that didn't make it into battlebots this year.

I love how much my two young boys get into BattleBots. They will watch fight after fight after fight. They love the combination of remote controlled robots and the action.
The constant improvements and desire to iterate is the best thing about Battlebot’s. Notice when they’re looking at the damage one of them mentions they could get further into the wood with a faster arm. These bots are NEVER done!
It's cool to see how the rain didn't seem to affect Scorpios! I've always wondered how combat robots handle environments outside of what they were built for. I look at these machines and see them as extremely specialized tools and half-expect them to be unusable outside those situations, but builders such as yourself always remind us that you're engineers, ergo, Problem Solvers. Perhaps my favorite part of combat robotics as a sport is seeing how you engineers solve problems, all the way from the long-term design decisions, to the in-ring improvisation when the plan inevitably does not survive contact with the opponent. I love how non-traditional sports in general exemplify skill in areas people once could only dream of, but now have genuine value beyond the playing field, whatever form it may take. My favorite part of Battlebots - as much as I love seeing the various bots designs and the destruction they bring, what I’ve come to love most about Battlebots is learning about the teams/builders thru builder’s blogs, the aftershows, and interacting with them on social media. It’s obviously a great community of people, seems like they’re all family.
My favorite is all of the innovation and designs that builders come up with
something I really like about battlebots is all the engineering and designing of building a battlebot. while usually the simpler the build is the better it preforms seeing over engineered bots like walker chomp and beta fight is really cool to see.
A few years ago I started watching more behind the scenes videos of battlebots. The additional information and learning out there has given me the confidence to try and broken items in my flat.
So although I may not be a robot builder, the additional content that people like you, Robert Cowen, Team Just Cuz, Tim from team monsoon and Norwalk Havok has improved a 35 year olds man life. That is what I like most about battlebots.
And the most important part of this post is to say thank you. Thank you for your videos and thank you for making the world a better place.
What I like most about Battlebots is how the contestants put pen to paper designing a Bot that can move as needed and then have a weapon system that is reliable and very dangerous. The ability to go thru several fights in a short amount of time must be so hard to do. I appreciate the total package, speed and power.
What I like most about Battlebots is how on the surface it looks like dumb big robots fighting each other. And the more behind the scenes stuff you watch, the more you get to see what a huge amount of time and effort is spent on getting a robot to fight for three minutes and survive.
I think Battlebots is the only show where I might prefer watching all the youtube channels for additional information, because it often makes it much more interesting. Knowing what damages were still there when going into battle, knowing the strategy and how it played out, what issues had to be fought through before getting the W. It's fascinating.
I like how battlebots as a concept is such a rich engineering problem. Just two robots fighting each other can have a fairly easy starting point, but you can also easily devote years and years of time to homing it in exactly. I think battlebots, even more than motor sports, is an encapsulation of the engineering process.
What I love the most about Battlebots is the creativity of the builders. The creative designs make everything much more interesting.

What I like most about battlebots is the Community around it. When someone was in trouble every one would step in and help them. Or if someone had a fight coming up another team would help another team. Overall everyone just wants to see carnage and explosions and the best way to do that is by teamwork.
What I like about battlebots is…

• I like how you can be so creative with making designs.
• The most of the time great sportsmanship.
• the warm welcoming to new comers.
•And honestly the community as a whole.
And robot combat is something I haven’t have the time nor many to do. So being able to get the lightweight would be a dream come true.

I like Battlebots for the robot fights conducted by teams from all different backgrounds. While many are engineers are some kind, there are also prop designers, medical professionals, and even lawyers who participate! So many cool designs slugging it out for our entertainment, and even fueling imagination!
My favorite part of battlebots is that it inspires people to be interested in careers in... okay, okay it's all the pieces of robot flying around.
My favorite part of BB is being here since the CC era and watching those same team evolve over the years and getting to see so many new and exciting teams from budget to big money builds is great. This is such an underated sport.
