This one surprised me I now see why my hops never came out good I use shorten and margarine in my flour and never let it rest that long I plan to make bread tomorrow so you know girl going and try this for sure thanks for sharing this was needed.
You can use the margarine and cookeen that's ok.. kneading is important..make sure the dough is smooth and soft..let rest in a warm area.. mabye the oven..(light the oven unitl warm and take it off..time put the dough to rest inside)
Wow.. Can't wait to try these hops. Thank you for sharing, especially about the correct time to put in the salt and the yeast, plus the steam bath. Will certainly try this. Thank you
Lovely, thank you for sharing this 💞 I made this today and it was excellent ! Anddd it was my first time baking bread, so don’t be afraid to give this a try!
As a boy growing up in the Nelson street & prince street area, my mom would send me to Coelho bakery for hops, they were big, round and very crispy, when you squeeze it, flakes would fly everywhere, these don’t look like the hops I knew, no disrespect intended.
Excellent video! I can finally make hops in foreign with this recipe. I do have a request that I am hoping you can help with? In the older bakeries there was a bread that was sold. It was a free form baked long bread that had a thick, heavy interior. A slice of that with Milo and you were good to go. This was no light textured fluffy bread. It was heavy, thick, dense. Sold by smaller independent bakeries. You used to get them on Independence square by ladies selling it in a glass display case. It was also available in bakeries around the Charlotte Street area. The last time something like it was in a corner shop on Marli Street not too far from the embassy. Anyone know what I am talking about? Can Foodie Nation help me with a recipe please and thanks?
I believe you are speaking about butter bread. I am not sure if you would get that kind of sweetish dense bread anymore..but I think the closest would be from Chee Mooke Bakery or St Mary's Bakery. I hope this helps
I will be trying for my Hops Bread for this Christmas. I haven't had hops in a long time.
thank you for putting the recipe in the description it makes it easy to go back for reference! Great video as usual
I am going to try this. There is nothing like hops and butter and a cup of tea and a rainy afternoon. Delish. Thank you.

Kezzianne 💓💓💓✊🤩
How much tsp of salt?
How much yeast
Hi That’s not original Hops bread, that’s his idea. Hops bread has only salt sugar and yeast.

Or check any dirt oven bakers..you can find them online
@@karminiparsan9256 Thank you but I am in "foreign" far, far away :) I remember the bread from childhood.
Maybe it’s the schilling loaf you’re talking about
@@chandramaharaj6396 I think it was a type of butter bread but not sure.
What was a shilling bread like?
What is the amount in the ingredient
recipe please!!!!
We want to know how tobago make there beni cakes
What are the measurements of ingredients
Similar to American biscuits?
Hops egg and bacon and cheese
Aye allyuh base that hops and did not tell me
Omg
Kezz u lost some weight or wha
12 balls made recipe says 10 balls okok
1/4 tsp not 1/14 right i confused
1 and 1/4 tsp seems more appropriate
Sorry to say but the end result looks dryer and harder than the soft hops bread I remember from my childhood.
The end product looks and sound like biscuit.
Too much talk killing the video
So no baking powder 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
