@@BrettHollandTheJourney Well, EA is currently the only entity that is preventing us from having more C&C. Why? Ever since they lost their cash crops (FIFA and Madden) they've been selling themselves out to companies like Apple and Amazon. yuck.
everyone seems to forget that Civ 2 was on the PS1 back in the day (and that was what introduced me to Civ), so no Civ 6 isn't the first big boy civ on consoles.
I loved Populous and Centurion on the master system (or mega drive) back in the day. Years ahead of their time. Also Kessen and Kessen 2, Command and Conquer Red Alert… All excellent console strategy games
I always really liked Operation Darkness. It was a turn based WW2 strategy game involving Nazi Vampires, and a team of Allied Werewolves. You could shift to your wolf form and attack tanks for bonus damage. There was also a great leveling system that made it so even the minor generic soldiers could become great asset's.
No love for the Xbox and PS2 exclusive Aliens Vs Predator: Extinction? The game that lets you create a hive and then go kidnap folks for a good facehugging :)
who doesn't want a face-hugger carrier. a giant xenomorph that carries several face-hugger eggs on it's back. a weekend of fun for the whole family right there 😳
My personal favorites were Ogre Battle for SNES, Ogre Battle 64 for N64, Master of Monsters for Genesis, Dark Wizard for Sega CD, Iron Storm for Saturn, Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics for Playstation, and every Disgaea release ever. Any one of those are more than worthy to make the list.
I'm a little surprised Starcraft on the N64 missed the cut. Or maybe not so surprised. Also Advance Wars. (For which the Switch remaster has had its release delayed, quite understandably.) It's worth mentioning that the original PS1 did actually have its own mouse released, which was usable for a bunch of different strategy and RTS games.
This list should IMO be renamed top Console strategy games of the 2000s. There were no 90s games at all. Hell were any pre-PS3 and pre-Xbox 360 games other then Pikmen? And Fire Emblem: Three Houses wasn't the first FIre Emblem home console game to come west. And I seriously hope you want to keep handheld games and home console games on separate lists because that's the only good reason I can see for leaving Advance Wars off.
The immediate, obvious problem with putting a strategy game on a console is controls. A controller can't begin to compete with mouse and keyboard for strategy. I thought the alien vs predator game that came out on consoles was great, but good luck doing half of what you could with a PC strategy title in that game.
As everyone else is shouting out to games... The Kessen and Dynasty Tactics games were incredible Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders was genuinely brilliant and some of the older strategy games ( KKND Krossfire, Command and Conquer, Warzone 2100, Dune 2000, Z and of course Hogs of War!) were genuinely fun even on consoles, though maybe there's some nostalgia filters in play there.
My top strats on consoles bfme 2 ,Kane’s wrath ,ruse , red alert 3 , halo wars ,and Age of wonders planet fall . I like civ revolution 2 was good as well
No one is really talking about it, but a game called Kingdom Under Fire The Crusaders was released on steam. Its a really fun strategy game, but it is kind of old though. This used to be a Original Xbox game, but was ported to PC.

You have been equating tactical games and strategy games in this video. They are not the same. Real-Time strategy and turn based strategy games have been mostly absent from consoles but tactical games, especially tactical RPGs, have had a strong history on consoles even going back to the 80's, several tactical RPG series started on consoles and were console exclusives such as Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, Warsong, Suikodon Tactics, etc. Tactical games have never been absent on consoles so including Fire Emblem and Valkyria Chronicles on this list is a bit incorrect.
There was one for the Wii: played through it a decade ago - it was quite enjoyable. (Had multiple voice language options, so I played it with French voices and English subtitles - highly recommended.)
r.u.s.e deserve a remake or a new part, maybe with a modern setting. all together, I miss in RTS games some game mechanics like dynamic weather and more focus on sound design! that's my favourite genre and there is not a single RTS title out there that lives up to the technical standards of the current Generation they came out, either it's very difficult to make these kind of games or it is just not a big market for it and so are the budgets low.
I always refer to this genre as my least favourite but every one I've ever played I've become addicted to and gone on mammoth sessions, like pause would be cheating (it's still real to me DAMMIT).
Fire Emblem is a turn-based tactical RPG not a strategy game, that genre has always been strong on consoles with series like fire emblem, advance wars, final fantasy tactics and more. You could even say that genre was even more prominent on consoles than pc. Tactical RPGs were not hampered by using a controller thus they were a major console genre.
I play this on PS4. Impossible to find a multiplayer game and it’s sneaky by saying that lobbies have people in them. It’s just padded out with bots. Wish more people played it. Had some good matches.
As if you can't play on the PC from the sofa and as if their PC version were worse. There's a reason why mouse and keyboard is objectively better than the controller for strategy games.
